Golf: Verzon Heritage 17th-20th April

Having a decent each way bet on Stewart Cink in the Verizon Heritage, beginning today. Twice winner of this event, in 2000 and 2004, and comes into this week on the back of a third in the US Masters. That display in the Masters continued Cink's fine form so far in 2008, as he has 2nd place finishes at the PODS Championship and the World Match Play, and 3rd places at the Masters and Torrey Pines. With Davis Love having won this tournament on five occasions, it is obviously a course that suits some people better than others, and Cink, having equalled Woods in the final round at the Masters, plays it very well. All in all, with his course pedigree and his recent form, Cink is a knocking each way bet at the widely available 16/1. Having one other tournament bet - somewhat of a flyer being taken on a 400/1 rag, but this is certainly not a shot in the dark. J. P. Hayes performed well in this event last year, shooting an opening round 67 and a third round 66, so he can obviously find his way around the course. If he can convert 2 good rounds into 3 good rounds then he would have a great chance of hitting the places over this weekend. At 400/1 he's definitely worth a few roubles each way.
