In terms of W-D-L record, Kosmina's record was the most impressive in the first two Hyundai A-League seasons (W23-D10-L16), having led Adelaide United to top two placings on the 2005/06 and 2006/07 ladders. Meanwhile, Central Coast striker Adam Kwasnik is set to make his 50th Hyundai A-League appearance.

Re: A League Round 10 - Sydney v Central Coast (Sun 28th Oct - 3:00pm) The match previously billed as the return of Qantas Socceroos World Cup star John Aloisi against Sydney FC recruit Michael Bridges has been hijacked by John Kosmina's unveiling as the new boss in the harbour city. Sydney reacted speedily after letting go Branko Culina by confirming its appointment of the former Adelaide United coach and 2005/06 premiership winner this week. Kosmina has only a matter of days to stamp his mark on a side which has lost four times at SFS this season already and faces a potentially season-defining clash with the Central Coast on Sunday. The match, with his new club languishing in sixth on nine points, presents an unusual scenario for Kosmina who spent almost all his managerial career with Adelaide on the top half of the Hyundai A-League ladder. But he does possess a healthy record against the Mariners with three wins and two draws in his six league meetings with the current table toppers during his Reds tenure. Adding the drama, Kosmina still has four games of a five-match touchline ban to serve leaving new No.2 Anthony Crea in matchday charge of a side missing Mark Rudan (suspension) as well as midfielder Terry McFlynn (ankle) and Adam Casey who broke his leg in the 1-0 loss to Adelaide last week Sydney lost Mark Milligan on the eve of that match because of a calf strain picked up on international duty but he returns as do suspended duo Steve Corica and Ruben Zadkovich as well as Englishman Bridges pending his visa confirmation. Aloisi is also named for the much-anticipated NSW derby and is tipped to start upfront alongside former Sydney favourite Sasho Petrovski who has already scored against his old side this season. Central defender Alex Wilkinson has returned to full training after a knee injury and might make his first appearance since late August after his recall to the squad. Brad Porter also gets the nod after serving a one-match ban. Adam Kwasnik, a first-half substitute in last week's 2-1 win over the Phoenix, will earn his 50th Hyundai A-League cap if selected after a calf problem. Kwasnik came on earlier than anticipated in Wellington after Andrew Clark limped off with a hamstring injury.
