The Format 2 divisions of 9 teams. Each team play each other once. Each side has 4 matches at home and 4 away. Each match is 40 overs per side and teams get 2pts for a win and 1pt for a no result/tie. Losing teams get nothing. At the end of the season the top 2 in division 2 replace the bottom 2 in division 1. 7th in division 1 then travel to the 3rd place side in division 2 in a one off playoff of which the winner goes into division 1 next season.

Re: Cricket: Natwest Pro40 2007 Ok then. Onto the bets. Division 1 1st. 2pts ew Sussex to win Pro40 Division 1 8/1 Betfred (1/5 1,2,3) Division 1 of this season's Pro40 is wide open. Any 1 of the sides could win it but Sussex are getting a bit of momentum in one day cricket now and I think this competition could come at just the right time. When considering outright picks for this competition we must first of all work out what impact the Twenty20 World Cup will have on squads. Well we look at Sussex and they'll lose Matt Prior. They could lose Luke Wright and maybe Michael Yardy too and also Rana Naved. Well Luke Wright isn't as imperative to their chances in this as he is in Twenty20 and Michael Yardy is replaceable I think. Naved's a loss but this league wouldn't be wide open if someone had no problem areas. So having checked the effect that will have, we now need to assess form. Form is fine for Sussex. They qualified for the quarter finals of the Twenty20 and have every chance of making finals day. Goodwin and Adams are quality with the bat and the Pakistani spin twins, Mushtaq and Saqlain will have most sides in trouble. Sussex look an all round good side even after the players leave for South Africa and represent a decent each way bet in a wide open division. 1pt ew Gloucestershire to win Pro40 Division 1 20/1 Bet365 (1/5 1,2,3) As with Sussex, the 1st thing we will look at is the effect the Twenty20 World Cup has on this squad. Unlike many of their rivals in this division, that tournament has no effect on Gloucestershire as they won't have anyone currently playing for them going out to South Africa. So we look at the squad and it looks like a side who are massively overpriced. Craig Spearman and Alex Gidman aren't in their best form yet but they're too good not to find their form soon and when they do runs will flow. Hamish Marshall and Chris Taylor makes their lineup solid. With the ball, although I keep thinking their bowling attack can go round the park, that doesn't happen that often as their Twenty20 campaign suggests. The Gladiators have made the quarter finals of the 20 over extravanganza and also finished 3rd in the South division of the Friends Provident trophy with only run rate denying them a semi final spot. Gloucestershire are a solid one day side and at 20/1 have to be worth an each way stab.
