Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) Round 11 Score Prediction based on Average Scores For and Against Using Ads For and Against tables, I have gathered the average score For a team compared to the average score against for their opponents. Of course teams are often above or below their average, it is up to you to work out who will be above, and who will be below. An interesting guide never the less.

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) Another interesting stat i notice is that Carlton, Geelong & Collingwood have scored the rounds highest score twice each, while St Kilda have scored the rounds lowest score 4 times. On another 2 occasions St Kilda have scored the second lowest score of the round, so when they are bad they are really bad. Carlton average the second highest score in the league, but on the other hand they concede the highest average score per round. Might be handy for Under/Over betting in the points markets. Of Hawthorn 6 of Hawthorns 7 wins, their winning margin has been between 20-39 points which proves they have been pretty consistent this year when they win. Geelong have won 7 games, but 5 of those wins have been by over 39.5 points which means they are capable of big wins, 3 have been over 60 points meaning they are capable of destroying opponents.

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) Following on further with your stats Ads. I have always found that teams that average over 100+ points for per game early in the season they end up higher on the ladder at year's end, and combining that with teams averaging under 80 points against per game, it gives you a good guide to the better teams. Averaging over 100 points for per game Geelong 120 Essendon 101 Carlton 102 Averaging under 80 points against per game West Coast 72 Adelaide 76 Sydney 76 Geelong 78 Hawthorn 79 Interestingly enough Geelong are in both columns, which indicates they score well and defend well, a great combination, and shows they are a big threat at the moment. Also of interest is that Carlton are one of only 3 teams averaging over 100 points for per game, and they sit 14th on the ladder. If they can improve their defence this year they will many more games. If they bolster their defence before next season then they will improve their win/loss ratio dramatically.

Do my eyes deceive me? Is that something semi-positive about Carlton written by beejay :loon

The Carlton games have certainly been exciting this year, ive been to all the games played in Melbourne and despite losing alot of matches, i have still come out of the game with a smile on my face knowing it was an exciting game of footy and i got my money's worth (not like this St Kilda vs Hawthorn shit of a few weeks back). But the fact we concede so many points is absoultely staggering. I cant remember a team having so many point against per game since the Fitzroy days. Carltons midfield and forward line are very good the majority of times, but it seems every time the ball goes in our defensive it hardly ever is rebounded and usually results in a score to the opposition. The defence is very poor to say the least/ Is there a stat available for rebound 50's? Im sure there is, Taza do you keep it by any chance? Be interested to see if Carlton rank 16th in this stat...

What about when i was standing next to Jeffers after the win at the MCG last week and you were an hour up the road on the phone to him saying (and i quote) "I really like Carltons style of game". I reckon behind this Anti-Carlton masquerade you've got going, you have a soft spot deep down for the Old Dark Navy Blues :dude :dude

Ads25 Seems beejayville has gotta crush on Carlton. Looks like a new Carlton permanent member.

You can't help but love the Blues if you watch them tbh...our style of play is great to watch, and if, as Beejay says, we sort the conceding out, we're a top 4 team atm. Of course, that's like saying if the Titanic hadn't sunk, it would still be floating. Honestly though, Carlton are both a pleasure to watch, and extremely frustrating. Every time we fcuk up going forwards, or lose the ball in the oppo's 50, it's straight down the other end and Goal. I turned to Ads at least 4 times on Saturday and said Goal, before the other team had crossed half way, you can pick it that easily. Not entirely sure what the problem is in defence tbh, but it shows no signes of going away. Hopefully at least for teh remaining games we can play like we did this weekend and make a fight of it - could end with 7+ wins if we do. :ok

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11)

DId anyone read Jimmy Hird's article in the Sun Herald today? Superb it was :clap
No I didn't notice it to be honest. And it is Herald Sun not Sun Herald, us Victorians are very particular about how our paper is pronounced. If you want to stay an honourary Victorian i suggest you learn the right lingo. :lol What's your thoughts on Cartlon's chances against Port Power? Jeffers, your AFL posts have been very commendable comsidering you are still learning about the AFL. The knowledge you have picked up has become quite good for a new comer to our game. I expect it is because you have been watching the games live. Good stuff picking AFL up so quick and I look forward to your comments when talking about a game because you offer a fresh view point :ok I am a little concerned about my beloved Black and White against Melbourne, they have had the wood on us in recent times :dude

That wil teach him to have a shower before a 6am training session!! :unsure Well...what first looked like a crappy weekend, with lots of close games...now look slike I'm going to have a few bets. Essendon/West Coast under 194.5 (1.90) The Bombers have been pulling out every defensive technique in the book lately. Flooding...tagging defenders (Kennelly last week)...adds up to them having the BEST defensive record in the last 5 games @ a shot every 2.37 entries. Actually, their record in the dome suggests that they do much the same thing consistantly at 'home', allowing just 90 ppg @ a shot every 2.26 entries this season. West Coast have really struggled to score on the road as it is. A little over 76 ppg...but their high possession game does stand them in good defensive stead, allowing a shot just every 2.19 entries. I suspect this game will be much of the same. Plenty of chipping around by the Eagles...Essendon flooding back to play fast break style, but chances are the Eagle's defensive will be up to that job. Tough to pick a winner, tbh, but don't think it will be a monster score either way. Hawks/Swans...another low scorer on the cards...will be happy to take an under of around the 180 mark. Sydney seem to have gone into a very slow (boring!) game style on the road this season, av'ing just 43 I50's, and 42 against! (about 160 points per game). The Swans have played just one game in their last 10 at the MCG that has gone over 173 total points! Hawthorn have proven to be a strong defensive team as it is...allowing just 45 I50's in the last 5, and about 75 ppg. Lean the Hawks, but couldn't take them as favs...under hopefully! Dogs -5.5 Expecting a much more solid performance after last week's shocker...Brisbane defense every bit (well, almost! :D) as bad as Carlton's...allowing a shot every 1.77 entries in their last 5. Home stats are skewed by 2 good defensive performances early (v. Hawthorn and St. Kilda), but they've allowed 25, 30 and 30 shots in their last 3 at home...to 3 teams who just don't score as well as the Dogs do. Murphy back is a huge boost too. Of course, the Dogs defensive midfield pressure (lack of!) is always a concern, but Brisbane have only topped 100 in 3 of their last 10..Brown will be double teamed...either way Harris is a strong match-up for him, and Hargrave/Morris on Mitch Clark. Dogs look to have too much fire power here...won their last 3 v. Brisbane by 23, 28 and 42...2 @ the 'Gabba. Carlton/PA...tough to take either team here. Carlton allowing 228 ppg in theri last 5 at the Dome! Last 5 games show 2 terrible defenses. Blues allowing a shot every 1.67, PA every 1.73! The good news for Port is that they score every 1.75 entries...the bad news is that in the last 5 games they have entered their 50 the LEAST of any team @ just 44 times per game...which won't win you too many. Even v. Richmond and Melbourne (allowing 55 each), they entered just 48 and 45 respectively. Carlton allow 56, but can Port take advantage?? Tough one to read for me... Crows/Geelong...Well, all year I've been saying the Geelong are yet to beat a team better than them...there may well be a very good explaination for that right now!!! :clap Not sure I can take them as road favs, but again looking at an under. Crows allow just 45 I50's/game at home. Geelong have been super defensive last 5, allowing just 46 I'50s, and a shot every 2.34 entries. Geelong should win I guess... Kangas +9.5 thanks! Off their first BAD game for a long time...not even that bad...things were very even until the last 20 minutes. Saints really struggling. Only topped 100 in 2 of their last 10...just 4 wins on the season...Kangas still seem to be under-rated. Nearly 2.40 for the win looks huge!...I'll take the start...can't see St. Kilda winning by too much if they can get up at all. Very tempted by the Tiges +30...but the big loss @ Port worries me. Freo just aren't very good!!...but like Collingwood last week, I can't see Richmond having anyone to stop Tarrant/Pavlich...Polak will go to one...can Bowden run with Tarrant?? Mmmmm...food for thought. Althugh Freo have won 4 of the last 5 (3 at home), wins have been by only 23, 10, 27 and 11... ...Freo 1-39 paying a pretty handy 2.35!...reckon I'll be tempted by that. :ok Sure, Melbourne have won the last 3 meetings, but 2 were as big favs...won last year as decent size dogs, but Collingwood were bit over-rated...playing much better this year imo. Although Melbourne have been in some close games and finally got a win last week, last 5 games show they are still nearly -8 I50's a game (Coll +3.5)..Melbourne allow a shot ever 1.78 entries, Collingwood score every 1.79...Melbourne score every 2.02, Collingwood allow 2.03!! Just about a mirror image...can't see Melbourne notching up number 2 here. 1.70 for the 'Pies looks very fair indeed. Good luck everyone. :ok :cheers

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) What to watch for this weekend.

- The weather in Brisbane, if it’s a heavy track or there is rain about, jump off the Bulldogs. The Lions will enjoy playing in the wet (remember Cairns).

- Dennis Cometti wearing a raincoat in the commentary box on Friday night. McAvaney will be orgasmic every time Judd goes near the ball and you know he’ll be excited seeing it’s his first time behind the microphone with Judd playing.

- Luke Hodge is in doubt for the Hawks. The Hawks won’t win if he doesn’t play. They need a full complement of midfielders to attack the Swans.

- Warren Tredrea must perform against Carlton. He will get plenty of opportunities against a suspect defence and if he can’t fire in this, he’ll need to assess his worth to the team.

Some facts

- The Bombers have scored around 100 in their last 7 games at the Dome. - West Coast average 29 points in second halves away from Subiaco this season, and average 8 points in third quarters. - Hawthorn score more heavily after half time in their games. - Swans average 20 points less away from home. - Bulldogs average 90 points away from the Dome, but only score 35 after half time.

- Carlton have only beaten Melbourne in their last 14 games at the Dome.

Score Predictor & My Tips(in Bold) Essendon 97 West Coast 96 Hawthorn 84 Sydney 79 Carlton 93 Port Adelaide 91 Brisbane 80 Western Bulldogs 98

Suggested Bets

SYDNEY Win PORT ADELAIDE Win Good luck everyone.

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11)

Well, our record at the Dome is shocking...something like 10% wins (no jokes about that being our overall record please)...our record at the G is much much better.
Nice review by the Englishman :ok Got me thinking about records at the Dome...Below is the record for teams playing at the dome from 2000 to 2007

Re: AFL Football Round 11 (Friday June 8 - Monday June 11) Port Adelaide have been Carltons bogey team since they entered the league in 1997. We just never seem to be able to beat them ever. Still will never forgot the day Warren treadrea burts on to the scene as a teenager in 1998 and booted 8 goals as Port went to win by about 100 at Optus Oval. They were shit at the time too... Tommorow night as as good as any to break the hoodoo though, infact i like our chances tommorow. $1.91 is good value

What's the mail on Hodge? Last I heard (early this week) he just had a cork thigh and will be fine.

Essendon 97 West Coast 96
Took 11 rounds to get a margin right, but better late than never. Nearly got the score too. Congratulations to Essendon for showing they are clearly good enough for September action. Only need to win 4 more games to qualify for the finals which should be a formality given their fixture. There's no doubt Kevin Sheedy will be signing a new contract in the next few weeks and deservedly so. West Coast now appear to have a problem winning away from home and have Geelong snapping at their heels now.
