Bangor 04/03

Recommended Posts

Horse: CLASSIC FIDDLE Course: Bangor Time: 3.20 Made a good start to her hurdling career, winning a novice at Hereford before matching that form when 2nd in a similar contest at Chepstow Horse: PRIVATE BE Course: Bangor Time: 4.20 Made an encouraging chasing debut when 2nd to Opera Mundi at Newbury, should win this barring accidents with only the disappointing Royal Paradise to beat. Horse: CONTACT DANCER Course: Bangor Time: 4.50 Another Johnson runner, Disappointing on the flat when last seen but worth chancing here on his run for Peter Bowen, also fitted with cheekpieces. Horse: NO RETREAT Course: Bangor Time: 5.20 Dual C+D winner who should take all the beating with Kinsey taking off a useful 7lbs. Only found Tribel Run too good LTO when both pulled clear by 6l's, this should be easier

Re: Bangor 04/03 I'm going against the grain today, and opposing 2 odds on favs, both of which appear prominently in the Bankers thread.:\ GUNNASAYSO Bangor 3.20 6/1 RPF Has something to find with the odds on fav, Classic Fiddle, but is a worthy EW alternative. The fav is too short for me, mainly based on the fact it is trained by Henderson. Was turned over at odds on lto, and again has to give its rivals weight (7lb). Unsure at to whether the drop in trip will be to its advantage. Gunnasayso has no chance of turning the tables on the books, but a chance is taken that the horse has improved, judged by 5L 2nd in maiden hurdle lto. Seems better suited to this trip, and may give the fav something to do here. ROYAL PARADISE Bangor 4.20 5/2 RPF Again, another short priced fav in Private Be. For me, the price is exaggerated by the trainer / jockey combo of Hobbs / Johnson. Admittedly, the fav has decent form but has only had 1 start over fences and that was in a 3 runner contest. For that reason, worth opposing and the only contender to me is Royal Paradise. Mick Fitz on board is a big plus. Showed improved form lto when 2nd to decent type, Nicholls trained Good Spirit. Has 3 chase starts under its belt and is a former Grade 1 hurdle winner in Ireland. Has its conditions today for the first time in England, genuine soft ground. And distance looks perfect too, as 2m4f looked too far for this horse.
