Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th Looks like the money men may have been right Saw :loon Had to splip out for a moment and then get back and it has all gone pear shaped for Central Coast. Down a goal and down to 10 men and hard to see them winning from here. Just for interest...This loss will hurt CCM and breath new life into Queensland, and will certainly bring a smile to the Jet's face. The Roar have played very well tonight. This is how the Ladder will stand if the game stays the same as it is now.

Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th

Frisky, always went to your Blok but nothing yet any pick today? Thanks
On the +1.5 goals?? 2nd pick in this system will be Charlton v Liverpool in 3 hours. Charlton not strong enough and should be goals. I prefer to wait till about 5-10 minutes gone for a better price and play "in play" :ok

Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th

Queensland haven't been able to score at a heroin house lately and tonight they have kicked 3 goals against a team who has kept clean sheets against Adelaide/Sydney/Perth in the last 3 games. :wall
BeeJ, ,They are betting maybe on over again and again in asia, Thats 3 stakes already, maybe 1 more

Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th

A good game overall helped by some dodgy refereeing and poor defending which ensured the under had no chance. :wall
In the past 2 weeks the games that looked like they would be overs were under, and vice versa, I can never really pick them.

Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th Melbourne Victory v New Zealand Knights Date: Sunday December 17 Kick-off (local time): 7.00pm Venue: Olympic Park Radio coverage: SEN1116 (Melbourne) 1116am Head-to-head Five league meetings: Melbourne - 5 wins Previous meeting New Zealand 0 Melbourne 4 (North Harbour Stadium, Hyundai A-League round 10, October 2006) Last five results Melbourne: Win - Win - Loss - Win - Draw New Zealand: Loss - Loss - Loss - Draw - Draw Analysis Few will expect the New Zealand Knights to crash Melbourne's premiership celebrations when they travel to Olympic Park to take on the all-conquering Victory on Sunday evening. A Melbourne win will hand Ernie Merrick's men an unassailable lead at the top of the table and see them collect the premier's plate with four rounds still remaining - one week earlier than Adelaide managed last season. Of course, the Victory's name has been written on the trophy for a number of weeks already and if bottom-placed New Zealand does deny Merrick's side its 13th victory of the season it would go down as arguably the greatest shock in the Hyundai A-League's brief history. They return home to Olympic Park this weekend for the match with the Knights on the back of achieving a record-breaking Telstra Dome crowd of 50,333 against Sydney last Friday. But although off-the-field the premier-elect has exceeded everyone's expectations at the signature venue, on it Melbourne has lost twice and drawn twice over the past five matches in what amounts to a slight stutter in the context of the season. New Zealand, meanwhile, has strung together two results for the first time since the opening rounds of the campaign, following creditable draws with Newcastle at home and last weekend against Adelaide at Hindmarsh, the Knights' first away point of the season. Largely through an unprecedented injury curse, former coach Paul Nevin and interim boss Barry Simmonds have been forced into using 26 different starters over the course of the season including Chinese import Gao Leilei, who made a goal-scoring debut against Adelaide. Compatriot Li Yan, who was an eleventh-hour withdrawal last week with a leg injury, looks set to extend that to 27 after having previously played 20 matches for the Chinese national team and spent time in the Chinese Super League with Xi’an Chanba. Neil Emblen should continue, though, playing upfront alongside impressive Canadian striker Alen Marcina with Richard Johnson and Jonas Salley reforming an important combination in midfield. However, left-back Gregory Duruz is now sidelined with a knee injury. Melbourne, which has used just 17 starters in contrast this season, welcomes back Scottish midfielder Grant Brebner with Mark Byrnes giving way.

Re: Australian A league Round 17 - Thursday 14th - Sunday 17th Victory senses triumph THERE will be celebrating tonight if Melbourne, as expected, sews up the minor premiership today at home against New Zealand. After reigning supreme all season, Victory can finally confirm it is the best team in the country with a win over the struggling Knights at Olympic Park. Another sell-out crowd seems certain, and goalkeeper Michael Theoklitos is confident the team will notch a goal or two after last week being held to a 0-0 draw by a defensive minded Sydney FC. "The minor premiership is (technically) over now, but it could be really over if we get a win," Theoklitos said. "I think we can do it. When you're winning, everything is rosy. The boys get along well and we've been playing in front of 50,000. We thought if we could get a 15,000 base in our second year we would be happy. But this has been crazy." Last year, Victory struggled to kick goals, but its defence was still the second best in the league. This year, the side has excelled at both ends, conceding 11 goals and scoring 32. "It shows we're a cut above the rest," Theoklitos said. "There's so many players who have been great -- Danny Allsopp, Fred and Archie Thompson. And Kevin Muscat has been great in the midfield. Everyone's up for contention for player of the year. Kevin's been great, and he's a good leader." Scottish midfielder Grant Brebner returns to the side after missing last week's blockbuster because of suspension. Defender Mark Byrnes is the unlucky omission from the 15-man squad, as coach Ernie Merrick looks to load the attack. Daniel Piorkowski will also miss another week because of a hamstring injury. Victory will be keen to maintain its perfect record against the Knights, recording five wins from as many matches in its short history. In their two encounters this season, both at Auckland's North Harbour Stadium, Melbourne has slammed seven goals to nil, winning 3-0 and 4-0. Victory is 13 points clear of second-placed Sydney on the league ladder, with 12 wins and two draws from 16 rounds.
