A Pony a day, well most days..........

You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Friday 04/08/2006 Galway 06:50 MORATORIUM f/c. 8/1 stake = 10 pts WIN Noel Meade runs two here, with MORATORIUM turning out under a 5lb penalty after beating Shellin over the course and trip on Wednesday. LTO Racing off a 4lb higher mark than when just touched off in this race two years ago, MORATORIUM came good to win his fourth race on the Flat under a superbly judged ride from Fran Berry. The veteran had only a couple of rivals behind him heading into the final half-mile but soon began to make good progress through the field and stayed on well from the turn to grab the lead inside the final furlong. A very capable sort at this best, Moratorium was 3lb higher than when last successful and remains capable of winning again.

Re: A Pony a day, well most days.......... You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Saturday 05/08/2006 Galway 04:20 THE FONZE f/c. 7/1 stake = 10 pts WIN In a contest that may be dominated by horses that have already run at the meeting, the dangers include THE FONZE, twice a winner on the all-weather in Britain before finishing a highly creditable fiftth in Thursday's Galway Hurdle. LTO The Fonze has been in winning form on the all-weather in Britain and gave a positive display on ground that might have been expected to prove a bit lively for him. He would have been closer but for running into traffic problems before three out and still had plentyto do after the second-last. His three successive wins in handicaps last November were obtained on soft and heavy ground, and there could be a big pot to be won with him on an easier surface.

You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Sunday 06/08/2006 Chester 03:25 H.HARRISON f/c. 12/1 stake = 5 pts EACH WAY Good second to Roman Maze over C&D just under a year ago and weighted to turn around that form now; hasn´t been operating at that sort of level on turf this summer but creditable effort at Musselburgh last Thursday offers some hope, with inside draw a help. LTO chased leader, ridden along over 2f out, weakened approaching final furlong

Re: A Pony a day, well most days.......... You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Wednesday 09/08/2006 Kempton 08:52 JOMUS f/c. 10/1 stake = 5 pts EACH WAY Rarely wins (1-46) and not an easy ride but is a fairly consistent AW campaigner; quirky side again came to fore when very slowly away before reluctantly keeping on in first-time blinkers last week; could sneak a place if on best behaviour. LTO

Jomus is probably the unfortunate horse of the race. He lost several lengths at the start, and made his progress widest of all, where he must have been some seven or eight horse-widths off the rail going around the bends. His finishing effort was understandably shortlived but he can definitely do better, and will be a force in this grade if things go his way.

Re: A Pony a day, well most days.......... You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Thursday 10/08/2006 Sligo 08:35 THE FONZE f/c. 11/4 stake = 10 pts WIN THE FONZE, a creditable fifth running off a hurdle rating of 119 in last week's Galway Hurdle, is a hopeful choice to score. Eoin Doyle's dual purpose performer was beaten only 5l into fifth by Paul Nolan's CUAN NA GRAI and having scored twice on the all-weather in June over 10f he has solid credentials over this longer journey especially off this current Flat mark of 63.

Re: A Pony a day, well most days.......... You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Friday 11/08/2006 Wexford 06:55 SHELLIN f/c. 9/2 stake = 10 pts WIN The fitting of first-time blinkers saw Shellin finish second for the third time in her career behind Moratorium in a Galway 1m4f handicap. Any improvement on her revised 75 rating could see her play some part. LTO Shellin produced a good effort in first-time blinkers. She made much of the running and stuck to her task well when Royal Alphabet moved past on the turn in, staying on well to regain the runner-up spot in the closing stages. She is more than capable of landing a similar contest.

Re: A Pony a day, well most days.......... You're still standing on the corner Just don't say I didn't warn you Saturday 12/08/2006 Haydock 03:50 BO McGINTY f/c. 10/1 stake = 10 pts WIN Not the easiest to place these days but running well since Beverley win in June and unlike some of these has shown in the past he can run well off current mark; Paul Hanagan preferred and thereabouts. LTO taken down early, off the pace towards near side, good progress just over 1f out, ran on final furlong, nearest finish
