This might be boring for most, but if you're thinking of having an NHL punt at this stage of the season, it's always important to bear in mind some things - 82 games are to be played by each team, ie 11 or 12 o tap for each - some teams obviously already secured or almost secured playoff spot - Ott, Car, Phi, Det, Dal, Buf, NYR - out of these, Det and Ott are really through, the other ones as well barring force majeure. With these teams, motivation might be a bit questionable, especially once they reach a top 4 position in the Confererence - which means home ice to face off playoff series. - there are still some good battles of the playoffs to look for. In the East - TB, NJD and Mtl are currently "in", but especially NJD are having a rough ride (3-5-2 L10). Atl a real contender - 3, resp. 4 points behind and in hot form. Toronto, Fla, NYI with outside chances, all with positive records in L10 and Florida flying. In the West, Ana, Col (@ 86 pts) and namely Edmonton and Vanc (@ 84) are currently "in", but the chasing pack, namely SJS and LAK hot on their heels. Out of Edm, Van, SJS, and LAK, only SJS are with a positive record out of L10 and a very hot one at that - 8-1-1. Unfortunately, as ever, this situation is usually already facotred into the odds, but still some value is to be found. I'd also avoid any sky-high prices on uninterested teams (although all teams are playing till the end and all players should do their best to secure their future);) That's it.;)
