That was treated however, and he improved upon that, to win last time out by three and half lengths in a Class 3 Novice hurdle. Today is drop in class, to a conditional handicap and he could be leniently treated as he is open to more improvement. SportHorse Racing Event3.40 Newbury SelectionHe's The Gaffler (Each-Way) Strength5/10 Date03/03/2006 Bookmaker/PriceStan James @ 7.50 (Back) ReasoningIn great form having switched to fences. Disappointed on his chasing debut, but that was likely due to lack of experience. But has won last two races - Class 4 Novice Handicaps by 17 lengths & 9 lengths winning both with plenty to spare which means he is probably a step ahead of the handicapper and todays extra distance should see him to even better effect. Although todays race is a step up in Class to Class 3 he is nicely weighted at 10-9 and should go well. SportHorse Racing Event4.15 Newbury SelectionPredator (Each-Way) Strength5/10 Date03/03/2006 Bookmaker/PriceLadbrokes @ 8.00 (Back) ReasoningHas been backed this morning and this horse looks another likely well handicapped improver from the O'Neill yard. He was 2nd last time on his handicap debut in the same grade as today (Class 3) in a 2m handicap and shaped with promise as he ran as if he would need further. Today, he gets in off 10-7 in a 2m5f handicap, McCoy is on board and the two favourites in the betting both have top weights and they could struggle with this rival who has a low weight. I expect him to run well. SportHorse Racing Event4.45 Newbury SelectionEskimo Jack (Each-Way) Strength5/10 Date03/03/2006 Bookmaker/Price>Bet365 @ 5.50 (Back) ReasoningMakes his debut in hunter chases today. Had some useful form in handicap chase company in Ireland towards the backend of last year, 7 of 18 in a 20k handicap and on his latest start was 2nd in a good 9k handicap, and if you look back to 03, he was 7th in the Irish Grand National. Today represents a big drop in grade to this Class 6 hunter chase, best in on Racing Post Ratings and has a solid chance.
