Breeders Cup 2005

Re: Breeders Cup 2005 Here we go with an early analusis I got off my American friend a month ago and added some not re NR and slightly alternated/added something.;) BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE FILLIES One to consider is Folklore. This Lucas trained filly looked impressive in her Matron win. Second choice is Adieu who has already beaten Folklore twice. Reason for Folklore as the top choice is one can't argue with trainer Lucas's success in these 2 yr old Breeders Cup races. He has a knack of getting his 2 yr olds ready on Breeders Cup Day. Other contenders are; Wild Fit, Sensation, Beau Dare, and Rumplestiltskin. BREEDERS CUP JUVENILE The undefeated First Samurai, although rather green, has to be the top choice in the Juvenile division. His impressive victory in the Hopeful at Saratoga over the previously unbeaten Henny Hughes in my opinion puts him at the head of this class. Other contenders are; Henny Hughes, Private Vow, Stevie Wunderboy, Sorcerer's Stone, and Ivan Deraisovich. BREEDERS CUP DISTAFF Ashado, last years Breeders Cup Distaff winner, ran poorly back in September out and looked not to even make this years field. The Beldame at Belmont on Oct. 1st should give us all a greater look at some of the Distaff hopefuls. My early choice for the Distaff would have to be the unbeaten Mott trained/Steinbrenner owned Sweet Symphony. Other contenders are; Society Selection, Stellar Jayne, In the Gold, Island Sand, and Shadow Cast. Lets all watch the Beldame on Sat. Oct. 1st to get a better idea about this field. BREEDERS CUP SPRINT The buzz in the Sprint this year is all Lost in the Fog. The unbeaten Lost in the Fog is regarded by many horse people as the best sprinter in years and Lost in the Fog is ranked #1 in the NTRA rankings. However, how he performs against older horses is still a mystery. The second best sprinter in my opinion is Wildcat Heir but he's having physical problems and may not make the Breeders Cup. Other contenders are; Pomeroy, Woke Up Dreamin, Toscani, and Silver Wagon. BREEDERS CUP FILLY AND MARE TURF All I can say here is Ouija Board. Can anyone beat Ouija Board in this race? Other contenders are; Angara, Sand Springs, Shawanda, Melhor Ainda, and Megahertz. BREEDERS CUP MILE Although trainer Bobby Frankel has not had much success at the Breeders Cup in the past it looks like his luck may change here with Leroidesanimaux. This speedball had a very impressive win in the Atto Mile and looks to be the heavy favorite in this race. Other contenders are; Artie Schiller, Dubawi, Singletary, Rakti, and Starcraft. BREEDERS CUP TURF The story of this years Breeders Cup Turf race as of now has to be Kitten's Joy. Kitten's Joy last years odds on favorite who lost in this race last year seems to be having physical problems and has been sent back to Kentucky to recover. I believe if Kitten's Joy is on the shelf, Powerscourt the winner of the Arlington Million this year would have been the one to beat, but he's not travelling. If he brings his "A" game to the track all others will be looking for place and show. Other contenders are; defending champion Better Talk Now, the unbeaten Shakespeare and the European contingent Motivator - not travelling, Oratorio, Azamour, and Hurricane Run. Bear in mind that Europeans are the horses to beat in the Turf races at Belmont. They have always taken a liking to the Belmont Turf and the weather. I'll be looking for top Europeans and look to score some nice money. Plus, Oratorio would be a must in the exotics for sure in the Classic. BREEDERS CUP CLASSIC This years Breeders Cup Classic field looks like possibly the weakest Classic field in Breeders Cup history. With a lot of the top Classic horses on the shelf for the year such as Ghostzapper, Roses in May, Afleet Alex, Bellamy Road, and Commentator just to name a few it looks like Saint Liam will be the Classic favorite this year. Saint Liam definitely is no sure thing( are there any sure things in racing LOL). Saint Liam has looked impressive but the pace in his races has been set up to his liking. Saint Liam should be tested by several contenders such as Flower Alley, Rock Hard Ten, Perfect Drift and Borrego. Anyway you look at it, not a very good Classic field this year. There you have it, an EARLY LOOK into this years Breeders Cup races. Still a month to go and a lot of things can happen...
