The Masters is a few weeks away - thought it was worth kicking off the discussion early with a few stats as we’ll start to see the usual offers from the bookies soon (extra places, hotshots etc).

Masters dates are . Thu, 10 Apr 2025 – Sun, 13 Apr 2025 (GMT 1PM+)

Odds of previous winners (decimal)
2024 - Scottie Scheffler 5.5
2023 - Jon Rahm 10
2022 - Scottie Scheffler 17
2021 - Hideki Matsuyama 47
2020 - Dustin Johnson 9.5
2019 - Tiger Woods 15
2018 - Patrick Reed 51
2017 - Sergio Garcia 51

Favourite - Scheffler’s win last year was the first favourite to win the Masters in 19 years (Woods in 2005)

Repeat/First time winners - 7 of the last 11 Master’s winners were first time Master’s winner

Opening round - last 19 Masters has seen the eventual winner finish in the top 11 at the end of day 1

Majors form - 10 of the last 11 Masters winners has finished in the top 6 in at least 1 major in the previous 2 seasons

Round breakdown over the past 4 seasons (inc ties)

    R1 R2 R3 R4 To Par
2024 Scheffler -6 (2nd) E -1 -4 -11
2023 Rahm -7 (1st) -3 1 -3 -12
2022 Scheffler -3 (4th) -5 -1 -1 -10
2021 Matsuyama -3 (2nd) -1 -7 1 -10
2020 Johnson -7 (1st) -2 -7 -4 -20

My personal approach to the majors is to build a portfolio of bets weeks leading up the start of the tournament.

I currently have a starting position of Aberg at 20/1 to win taken a few weeks ago and aim to have a roster of 4-6 golfers for the tourmament
