I'm trying to identify the past runs of any given race (if they exist).  While trying to develop the rules, I came across conflicts by two reputable racing publications for the 152 race at Southwell

Both have the 2024 race matching (winner Bobby Joe Leg on 18 Jan 2024) but one of them lists the 2023 race as the 6pm Southwell on 17/1/2023 which is a 5f race whereas the other lists 730 & 8pm races which are 2 divisions of the 7f race!

This means that if anyone was using these data points as part of their analysis may come to the wrong conclusion!

Would appreciate any guidance/insight.  Thanks very much in advance.

Here's the racing results for Southwell on 17/01/23 ..

Horse Racing Results | 17 January 2023 | Racing Post

the equivalent to todays 7 furlong class 6 handicap is obviously the race which was divided into two divisions at 7.30 and 8.00

but I think with low grade racing in general it's difficult to think of individual races as having a history like established pattern races

I imagine Southwell will hold dozens of class 6 seven furlong handicaps every year ..... I just think it's a bit meaningless to think in terms of the race held on a Tuesday in mid January ....... it won't have a unique history that's different to any of the other dozens of similar races
