Bet365 and ew terms

Recommended Posts

Hello.

First post.  I had to put this out there because it made absolutely no sense to me, although I have to admit that, according to their rules, Bet 365 has settled my bet correctly.

I backed Almaty Star in the 2.20 Goodwood yesterday (3rd Sep).  7 runner race, they were paying 3 places with an extra place option.  As a cautious punter I backed it 4 places at a reduced price (I think it was 16/1 3 places and I took 10/1 4 places.

There were 3 non-runners but Almaty Star won.  My bet was voided.  Bet 365 said that I'd chosen 4 places and because there were only 4 runners 'I couldn't lose'.

They told me that because I'd chosen the extra place option, normal ew rules (ie 4 runners all on to win) don't apply.  Unfortunately their rules do differentiate between ew and ew extra races.  Why, I don't understand.  Haven't I already taken a hit in price for the extra place?

Common sense says this should have been settled win only.  I'll paste the relevant rules.  Is it worth me pursuing this?

Each Way Extra bets are considered an offset to standard Each Way terms. In the event of non-runners, if the standard Each Way terms change, then the Each Way Extra terms will also change accordingly (including changes to the number of places available and/or the market place fraction). In the event of the number of runners in the race being equal to or less than the number of places offered at time of bet placement then bets will be void.

We may offer additional (Boosted) places on certain horse races above the aforementioned standard terms. Where we do offer an additional place(s) we reserve the right to alter the place terms from one quarter to one fifth e.g. if we offer 4 places in a Handicap race with 12-15 runners this will be at 1/5 the odds and not a 1/4. Boosted place race terms are dependent on the number of horses that are in a race at the off. In the event of non-runners and/or withdrawals we reserve the right to change the place terms offered for subsequent bets placed. In the event of the number of runners in the race being equal to or less than the number of places offered at time of bet placement then bets will be void.

Thanks for your help.

Steve.

Based on the above I would say it has been settled correctly.

Personally I wouldn't mess about with the each way extra options, it probably is not good value.
