cavello
Re: EW Double System Arrived home had just had time to have a quick look to see if you had put up anything. Missed bet on Hart of Gold( my son had a nice touch here).:notworthy But had a decent bet on Dream Champion Looked at Dream Champion could not believe the price. Overpriced from form perspective let alone the massive place advantage to the punters. :nana

slapdash
Re: EW Double System Looked at Dream Champion could not believe the price. Overpriced from form perspective let alone the massive place advantage to the punters. :nana I haven't kept careful records, but I have a feeling that in the races like this that I've bet on (5-7 runners, odds-on favourite, clear second favourite, no other horse anywhere in the betting), the second favourite wins a lot more often than the price suggests it should. Maybe there's a tendency for punters to think "the odds on favourite must be most likely to win, I'm not taking less than 2/1 .. 9/4 ... 5/2 on the second favourite"? Don't know if anybody has the technology to back-test this?

slapdash
Re: EW Double System Thanks. That's all races where the favourite is 1/2 or less? I presume it's not so easy to filter for races where the second favourite is also, say, 3/1 or less? Why are the number of bets different for favourites/2nd favourites/3rd favourites, by the way? Is that because of joint 2nd or 3rd favourites?
cavello
Re: EW Double System I think that right joint/co 2nd favs. From a different source 2-y-O races only 5-7 runners Odds-on fav 2nd Fav 9/4-100/30 3rd Fav =>11/2 Again +3% Yield on E/W bets
