Tectona
Hi all, im am new to posting on this forum, although i have been visiting it on and off for past 2 years, I don’t think I’ve posted a message. Very keen on the poker league, looks fun, and the free roll coming up. Just wanted to ask, if anyone could post a thread about Live Games, tournaments etc sorry if something has been posted already. Im interested in playing locally and don’t really know where to start. As sad as this may sound Im abit of a maverick, enjoy my own company rather than having loads of mates obviously I have m8’s but I don’t want to play poker against them… you all know what I mean! So any suggestions about poker in your locality would be great, i am in derby. Cheers Tectona
Jezza
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments Hi Tectona and :welcome to the poker forum mate. Dont worry about not being able to find old threads...they can be buried away deep in the archives but this one here... http://www.punterslounge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13975 Has a lot of good advice on live games. Once you have checked that thread out, I would phone around your local casinos and ask them when their tournaments are on...there should be a couple near you I would imagine. Oh and get into our next league game...they are indeed great fun! Jez
Sir Puntalot
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments Hi Tectona, You're welcome to enter the league, only 2 games gone, so plenty more action to go and will guarantee you entry into future freerolls that we have planned. ;) I would search google.co.uk for live poker games in derby and see what it comes up with. ;)

BillyHills
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments Gala at Nottingham have them every week, £20 buy in usually. About 100 players. Is there a Gala in Derby? The Leicester one isnt doing Holdem Poker just yet but they plan to.
Markpl1
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments I think i am probably your man here. I live in Nottingham and play at gala in Nottingham regularly (to the point of addiction). Its great atmosphere at our place (apparantly the noisest cardroom in the country) and gala are now starting to support the poker there new comps and all that. Though i would warn you that it also has reputation as having a high standard of play and has produced in recent years so up and coming pros. The comps in Nottingham are as follows: Monday £30 rebuy pot limit Tuesday £10 rebuy no limit Thursday £20 rebuy pot limit Friday £20 rebuy pot limit Sunday £50 rebuy pot limit ( first Sunday of every month its 100 quid) I would recommend tuesday night as it is beginners night and a less frantic atmosphere and you might even get to see me dealing (that should be a laugh in itself) There are cash games afterwards as well but i avoid them as it tends to be omaha hi lo and lowball etc. Also i believe Stanleys have reopened their cardroom recently in Derby for a couple of comps, not been yet but do plan on venturing across the M1 at some point for a look. So yeah if you fancy a trip over to notts let me know and i will happily show the ropes. That goes for any other pler who fancies a night of poker with some of Nottinghams more interesting characters.
Tectona
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments hey guys thanks for your replies. i will take a look into the old threads and may head to nottingham at some point Markpl1. i been mainly playing pot limit sit and go tables via party poker, have quite a good winning average, but the whole atmosphere for live play would be good. Intimidating at first i would imagine, like you say not to be taken lightly poker is indeed a game where more experience you have, the easier it is to tread on people which im learning. i believe derby has couple gala bingo's will check them out and post anything new i find on here, which may help others in east midlands i once read about stanley casino' mainly 5 / 7 card stud, maybe its now changed due to the popularity of Hold Em. anyhowe thanks for the warm welcome, and catch u all tommorow evening at the free roll. Markpl1
Re: Live poker rooms / Tournaments The gala in nottingham is on maid marian way. As you correctly point out there are 2 galas in Notts. It would be good to see you down here. I might well give Derby a go at some point unfortunately there nights conflict with Nottinghams.
