Step-Ladder E/W Doubles

I'm going to test a system here and see how it gets on. I've written a program that basically gives each horse in a race a rating and ranks them in order from the best value selection to the worst value selection. I'm still undecided how best to use these rankings, I think (if it is to be profitable), the best methods might be to lay short priced horses that are lowly ranked or to lay the lower ranked horse in a match bet market, but those probably don't make very interesting reading so I'll try the higher risk/reward option of E/W doubles ! Each flat race with 5 or more runners is eligible (which is virtually all of them) and any non runners will be ignored. The doubles are in racetime order and 2 consecutive placed/winning horses will yield a return. It's basically doubles in the format of AB,BC,CD and so on..... I'm also going to test a filtered version of the system which looks at the top 3 rated horses in the race (or top 2 for 7 or less runners) and applies a filter to produce the selection. Since these look at the top 3 rated in the race, they may be different from those unfiltered selections which are just the top rated. These will again be 1pt E/W doubles in the "Step-Ladder" format so the following 6 selectons produce 5 * 1pt E/W Doubles. Re: Step-Ladder E/W Doubles There doesn't appear to be too much wrong with the horses that the program is churning out (10/1 and 16/1 winners yesterday and winners at 7/1 and 16/1 today so far today) but nothng to return for it so perhaps the type of bets needs revisiting. In addition 14/1 shot Teen Ager was just touched off having gone odds in in running (double would've paid 119/1). Claim The Roses was 2nd rated in the 3.50 and that won at 33/1 to add to todays near miss hard luck stories, but onwards and upwards !! Re: Step-Ladder E/W Doubles 4 winners (at 8/1,7/2,7/2 and 3/1) and another 3 placed today but again poor returns due to the nature of the bet. All the 4 winners weren't consecutive hence no decent payout and I've decided that all things considered, I need to change the type of bet. I've had a think about things and have decided on a new approach so I'll retire this thread now and hopefully the new format will reap rewards ! :ok
