Step-Ladder E/W Doubles

I'm going to test a system here and see how it gets on. I've written a program that basically gives each horse in a race a rating and ranks them in order from the best value selection to the worst value selection. I'm still undecided how best to use these rankings, I think (if it is to be profitable), the best methods might be to lay short priced horses that are lowly ranked or to lay the lower ranked horse in a match bet market, but those probably don't make very interesting reading so I'll try the higher risk/reward option of E/W doubles ! Each flat race with 5 or more runners is eligible (which is virtually all of them) and any non runners will be ignored. The doubles are in racetime order and 2 consecutive placed/winning horses will yield a return. It's basically doubles in the format of AB,BC,CD and so on..... I'm also going to test a filtered version of the system which looks at the top 3 rated horses in the race (or top 2 for 7 or less runners) and applies a filter to produce the selection. Since these look at the top 3 rated in the race, they may be different from those unfiltered selections which are just the top rated. These will again be 1pt E/W doubles in the "Step-Ladder" format so the following 6 selectons produce 5 * 1pt E/W Doubles. Full Step-Ladder There were 4 races in total which had non runners or less than 5 runners so there were 27 e/w doubles Staked: 54pts Returns : 1.45 Placed 8/1 and 2.00 Placed 20/1 = 18pts 3.35 Placed 10/3 and 3.45 Placed 12/1 = 6.23pts Total Returns = 24.23pts Loss = 29.77pts Filtered Step-Ladder Staked: 10pts Returns: 5.35 Won 6/4 and 7.40 Won 3/1 = 12.41pts Profit: 2.41pts
