Rio on the level

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking for sometime about posting my flat season selections. We seem to have quite a few new posters joining the regulars which is making ATR a good read these days & so I've decided to join in. I did want to start last weekend but the shift pattern I work had me unable to post. This is the main reason I've not done this before as I would like to give some idea of why I'm backing something & not just the selection, although it won't be as in depth as some are doing. Anyway lets see how it goes. Not the most inspiring Saturday to start with, the Derby & Oaks trials at Lingfield both do not interest me. I've looked at the Victoria Cup which is transfered from Ascot. The favourite Iffraaj would be one to take on, it could be chucked in off 92 but is not drawn well in this big field on a tricky track & may find traffic problems. New Seeker front runs & should grab the rail & try to make all from stall 17 & over this easy 7f could well hang on, however I fancy one to come from the back & like the look of Uhoomagoo who was 3l behind Jedburgh at Newmarket LTO when stopped in his run. He's 5lb better off here & at 16/1 is a fair price in what could be a messy race. Uhoomagoo 10pts @ 16/1. With Gonfilia out of the opener at Lingfield this looks between Lucky Spin & Ruby Rocket & I prefer the latter. This isn't the strongest looking group 3 & Ruby Rocket has decent form at listed class. She has only tried 7f once before & didn't seem to stay but that was at the much stiffer Newbury. She's won over a stiff 6f at Newmarket & should get this easy 7f ok. Lucky Spin has won over C&D & goes well fresh & is a big danger but I feel Ruby Rocket has that touch of class & can take this. Ruby Rocket 40pts @ 11/4. Theres also a race at Haydock I like, The Stanleybet Handicap Hurdle. If Rooster Booster wins there won't be a dry eye in the house however he may well not have won LTO at Sandown had Royal Shakespeare not taken a crashing fall two out. This one was beaten 4l in the Scottish Champion Hurdle by the fast improving Genghis the time before that & despite being 8lb worse off it is Genghis for me in this, he could well turn into a live champion hurdle contender next season but would need to win this to do so. Genghis 30pts @ 7/2. Good luck to all today, Rio.

Re: Rio on the level Not a good day. Iffraaj won well, it will be interesting to see how far up the ladder this one goes. Uhoomagoo was a running on 5th. In the other Lingfield race I picked the wrong one & misread the market as well. Genghis was a major disapointment, the slow early pace didn't help, oh well early days. Staked 80pts Return nil Profit/Loss -80pts. Rio.
