kevshat
South Africa warm up for their anticipated tour of Australia next month with a quick 3 game ODI series in New Zealand which takes place this week. All three matches are live on Sky in the UK and with the World Cup getting ever closer should be pretty competitive. kevshat
Re: New Zealand vs South Africa - ODI Series Series preview: 2pts South Africa to win 3-0 7/2 Stan James New Zealand are a much underrated side when they are at full strength but if they have an issue it is with their strength in depth which isn’t the best and against this bowling attack in particular they probably need their best two batsmen but don’t have them. South Africa often flatter to deceive on the world stage but they have a chance to impose themselves in the country which stages the World Cup here and given that they go to Australia after this and will want some momentum to take with them they might not let up so 3-0 South Africa could be a good bet. kevshat
Re: New Zealand vs South Africa - ODI Series Top batsmen previews: 1pt D.Brownlie Top New Zealand Series Batsman 8/1 Paddy Power Dean Brownlie is someone looking to establish himself in the one day side and he looked good against a loaded England Lions side over here earlier in the year so he can definitely play one day cricket. Coming from Perth he is used to playing quick bowling and scoring off the back foot so he should go pretty well against this South African attack and given that he should avoid the completely new balls and the initial Steyn spell he could be overpriced at 8/1. The former Lancashire star had an excellent tri-series in Zimbabwe recently to cement himself in the number three position and by virtue of the fact he plays seam and spin equally as well and has plenty of gears to his batting I see no reason why he won’t go well in this series from a position in the batting line up which is probably perfect for him. The boundaries won’t be big enough for him when he opens his shoulders so he should score quickly and can top score in the series at 9/2. kevshat
Re: New Zealand vs South Africa - ODI Series 1st ODI preview: 4pts South Africa Highest 1st 15 overs 4/5 Coral South Africa are a little too short to back for the match given how difficult grounds can be to defend but they are not too short in the opening 15 overs. I like them in that market because Quinton de Kock scores freely in that period and you don’t get given anything from Dale Steyn or Morne Morkel up top and with Guptill having a ridiculously poor record against the Proteas added on top I’d expect the visitors to be ahead after 15 overs. kevshat
Re: New Zealand vs South Africa - ODI Series 2nd ODI preview: 4pts M.Guptill Under 25.5 runs 5/6 Ladbrokes South Africa looked very good in the first match but the match prices are about right. One line which looks too high is Martin Guptill’s runs line. It is at 25.5 which looks way off the mark. This will be his tenth innings in ODIs against South Africa and he has only passed this number once. His last five innings against them read 7, 0, 0, 5 and 5 and if we’re honest he looked well out of sorts in the opening game. I don’t see him making it to 26 against this attack.
