Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday August 30th Source : OPTA stats William Hill Wimbledon v Stevenage This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Football League. Stevenage won the most recent clash in the Capital One Cup in 2012, as they secured their place in the Second Round with a 3-1 victory. Matt Tubbs has scored in four of his five appearances in all competitions this season for AFC Wimbledon. The Dons have dropped a league-high five points from leading positions at home this season. Stevenage have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 games in league competition. Bury v Accrington Bury have won four of their last five home league clashes with Accrington Stanley, losing the other. Accrington have failed to score in three of their last four encounters with the Shakers, winning the other 1-0. Bury's Danny Rose has netted three goals from three shots on target in 2014/15. Accrington have conceded a joint-league-high two goals from the penalty spot, three short of their total last term. Stanley have conceded a league-high six goals in the first half, with five of those arriving in the fifteen minutes before half time. Cambridge v Carlisle Cambridge are unbeaten in their last six matches against Carlisle in the Football League, winning three (D3). Carlisle have conceded in each of their last seven trips to Cambridge in the Football League. Cambridge United have fired in a league-high 54 shots this term. The Cumbrians have lost six and drawn four of their last 10 league matches. Kwesi Appiah has attempted 17 shots so far this season, six more than any other League Two player. Cheltenham v Hartlepool The Robins have netted in each of their last nine against Hartlepool in league competition, winning five (D2 L2). Pools have shipped two or more goals in four of their previous six league trips to Cheltenham (W1 D2 L3). Indeed, Hartlepool have never kept a clean sheet away to Cheltenham in the Football League. Cheltenham have avoided defeat in their opening four games this season (W3 D1). They last went unbeaten in their opening five matches of the season in 2005/06. Marlon Harewood ended a run of 767 minutes without a goal in the league by scoring against AFC Wimbledon last weekend. Mansfield v Burton Mansfield have yet to score against Burton in the Football League. Only one goal has been scored in the two previous meetings in the Football League (Burton 1-0 Mansfield - 2013). That goal came from the recently departed Billy Kee. Including clashes in the Conference, Mansfield are winless in four against Burton Albion, losing on three occasions (D1). Burton have kept a clean sheet in each of those aforementioned four clashes in all competitions. The Stags have picked up four victories from their last six home league matches, losing twice. The Brewers have won only one of their last eight away games in League Two (D4 L3). Northampton v Exeter Northampton have won seven and lost two of their last nine against Exeter in league competition. Exeter City have kept just one clean sheet in their last 31 league trips to Northampton Town (W4 D10 L17). No side has fired in fewer shots this term than the Grecians (22). In contrast, Exeter have faced more shots than any other League Two outfit this season (61). The Cobblers have lost only one of their last six in League Two, winning three (D2). Oxford Utd v Dag & Red Oxford United have lost eight successive league games for the first time in their Football League history. The Daggers have scored in each of their previous three league outings to Oxford, winning once (L2). Oxford have scored exactly two goals in each of their three home Football League encounters with Dagenham. Jamie Cureton has provided three assists this season, no player in League Two has registered more. Indeed, Cureton has either scored or assisted seven goals in his last eight appearances in the fourth tier. Plymouth v Southend Plymouth have drawn five and won two of their last seven home league games against Southend. Both teams have scored in six of the last seven clashes at Home Park in league competition. Reuben Reid has netted four in his last four matches in all competitions The Shrimpers are unbeaten in their last seven away games, winning three and drawing four. The Pilgrims have committed a league-high 59 fouls this season, 13 more than their total after four games in 2013/14. Portsmouth v Newport Pompey won the most recent clash between the sides, 2-1. Jed Wallace and Ryan Taylor secured the points for the South Coast side. Newport County were shown three red cards in three clashes with Portsmouth last term (all comps). Portsmouth are unbeaten in their last 11 League Two matches, winning eight (D3). The Exiles have conceded a league-high three goals via headers this season. Newport have yet to score in the second half this season, a joint-league-low with Exeter City. Shrewsbury v Luton The Shrews have won only one of their last 12 league encounters with the Hatters, losing eight (D3). Luton have netted in eight of their last nine league trips to Shrewsbury, though they failed to score in the last match there (0-3). No side has faced fewer shots this season than Shrewsbury Town (26). The Hatters have won just one of their last 11 games in the fourth tier (D6 L4). Shrewsbury have netted in each of their last 10 games in league competition, scoring 17 in the process. Tranmere v Morecambe This will be the first meeting between the two sides in the Football League. Morecambe's only victory over Tranmere came in the Football League Trophy (1-0, September 2007). Rovers have won just one of their last nine games, losing six and drawing two. Morecambe's Paul Mullin has scored three goals in his first three league games as a professional footballer. Morecambe have scored four goals via headers, a league-high. Tranmere have dropped a league-high six points from leading positions this term. York v Wycombe York have won five and lost one of their last six games at home to Wycombe in the Football League. Wycombe have failed to find the back of the net in five of their previous seven visits to York City in the Football League. The Minstermen have gone 21 games unbeaten in league competition excluding the playoffs (W11 D10), last tasting defeat back in January (v Chesterfield, 0-2). If York avoid defeat to the Chairboys, they will set a new club record for longest run of games without defeat. All three of Peter Murphy's efforts on goal this season have resulted in a goal.

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday August 30th Portsmouth v Newport Title favourites Porsmouth have continued their great form at the end of last season. Unbeaten, winning 3 of their four games so far. They lost midweek to Stoke in the cup, but that was with a massively changed side. Newport picked up a good point at home to Burton last week, but have lost their other three games. It's 2nd from top v 3rd from bottom. So why are Bet365 offering 2.10 for the home win? Too good to resist for me The other promotion favourites Bury are another obvious bet. Lot's of new signings but they seem to be gelling since their loss on the opening day. Accrington, like Newport, were pointless untill a draw with Luton last week. 2-0 up very early on, then conceded two before half-time. Bury should have too much for them. 1.66 doesn't excite. One for the accas perhaps? Cheltenham have made an excellent start and will go with them tomorrow at 2.05, at home against Hartlepool, who were winless until a surprise victory at Wimbledon last week. Good second-half performance from reports might have given them a boost. But the odds seem too generous for a team on a roll.

Re: Sky Bet League 2 > Saturday August 30th Taken Exeter to win at Northampton (4.6, 5dimes). Exeter look awful and Northampton have owned them historically, but the home side are no world-beaters and it's far too early for this sort of matchup to be priced up like it's top vs bottom, especially in this league. The similarly priced up match is Portsmouth-Newport, which I'm going to avoid. Portsmouth are considered a top team and have actually showed it.

Portsmouth were still 2.10 last night (see above post). Have placed my biggest bet of the season so far on them. Newport were bit unpredictable last year, so am hoping they don't remember how to play.

That's what I get for thinking.

Now on my official list of teams never to bet on in this league, joining Plymouth and Exeter for sheer annoyingness
