European Darts Open 11-13 Jul

The latest European Tour event begins in Germany on Friday and with the Matchplay just over a week away this gives those who have qualified the chance to build up their form to go into Blackpool. The tournament is live on the usual bookmaker streaming services. The draw is being made on Thursday so once that is up I'll copy the link to the draw and schedule into here. Re: European Darts Open 11-13 Jul Running a bit late but I don't see too many early shocks so should be plenty of time to get on. 1.5pts ew R.Barneveld to win European Darts Open 16/1 Coral (1/2 1-2) Barneveld hasn't done a huge amount since he won the Premier League but we're getting into the busy period of big tournaments again now so I'm sure he will have stepped up his practice and I would expect him to play well this weekend. There aren't many weak sections in draws these days but he's found himself in one which isn't too bad with the likes of Whitlock and Chisnall off form while King and Dolan are hit and miss at the minute. A potential semi final would be tougher but we know he has it in his locker to beat anyone because he showed us it in the Premier League and if he arrives in top form, and Thursday's qualifying where he lost just two legs in two matches suggests he's in good nick, then 16/1 could look a little big come Sunday afternoon.

Re: European Darts Open 11-13 Jul One for this afternoon. 4pts G.Price to beat C.Lloyd 11/10 Stan James I don't think either of these will be troubling the stage come Sunday but one of them has to win this afternoon and Price looks a big price to do just that. Colin Lloyd hasn't been past the last 64 of any tournament this year and he is someone who enters all of them so he is clearly in no form whatsoever. Price is hit and miss and we have to realise that but he has made the last 16 in a couple of tour events this year and has wins over solid players like Paul Nicholson, Michael Smith and even Andrew Gilding in qualifying for this tournament so he has more winning momentum behind him and the fearlessness of youth whereas Lloyd may feel under pressure to perform having finally got back on this stage. At odds against though the Welshman looks a solid bet this afternoon.

Re: European Darts Open 11-13 Jul Couple for tonight. 4pts A.Smith to beat A.Hamilton 5/4 Paddy Power Andy Smith has been playing well this weekend and I think he's decent enough value to see off an Andy Hamilton who isn't the one we've seen on the big stages for the last couple of years. Hamilton is struggling to find his power scoring and while his finishing is getting him out of trouble eventually he will need to find his scoring again. Smith has scored very well this weekend and stuck in a nice 96 average in his first round win. He's only just behind parity on the head to heads of these two over their 12 meetings which when you think how good Hamilton has been over the last couple of years is pretty remarkable. Given that Hamilton doesn't look to be in that form at the minute I'll go with the Pieman in this one. 4pts K.Painter to beat K.Huybrechts 6/4 William Hill Kevin Painter is another who has played well this weekend so far. He saw off the competent challenges of Keegan Brown and Steve Beaton for the loss of just two legs on Friday and was knocking in 15 dart legs for fun so he's in good nick. We don't really know how well Huybrechts is playing this weekend yet because his opponent was very poor in his only match in this tournament so far but he's been losing to some fairly low ranked and average players in the recent past so Painter has to be overpriced here given that we know he's going so well. Huybrechts is a good enough player to slip into form again but he may well need to and at the prices the Artist appeals to me.
