John Deere Classic 10th July 2014

The John Deere Classic continually comes down to tight approach play and putting. When you miss the green, scrambling play to get up and down is key. After the success of last week let's go with the same triple price strategy with a view to filling a number of the spare places. With Stricker, Zach and Spieth in the field, the bookies are virtually saying it's a 3 horse race, but their are weaknesses against all 3 this season. Jeff Overton 125/1 55th in Birdie Average, 53rd in Bogey Average 52nd in Putting Average and 26th in Scrambling. Last appeared in the resort shoot-out at TPC Louisiana. Troy Matteson 200/1 You'd never back him up with stats, but he always come to the fore on resort courses, when his back is up against the wall when it comes to trying to keep his card. 2nd here recently. Kyle Stanley 150/1 31st in Proximity to the Hole and an established ball-striker. Found the putter (at last) in West Virginia last week and second here in 2011. Chad Campbell 150/1 Struggles immensely with the putter, but 8th in Bogey Avoidance, 14th in Proximity and 58th in Scrambling. Playing for his card and has a history on resort courses. If the putter clicks, watch out. David Toms 100/1 67 in Birdie Average, 28th in Bogey Avoidance, 19th in Proximity, 67th in Putting Average and 62nd in Scrambling. Making plenty of birdies after a sluggish start to the season, and has plenty of linkable course form at Kapalua, Colonial, Sedgefield etc. Past winner here. Sang-moon Bae 100/1 - Putting beautifully at the moment and his scrambling jumped considerably at Old White TPC. 17th in Putting last season and a renowned genius with the flat blade. No US resort course form whatsoever, but has won tournaments in South Korea at -22 and -17. Brian Harman 100/1 27th in Bogey Average, 5th in Proximity, 34th in Putting Average, 33rd in Scrambling. Struggles a little to make birdies (72nd) and not in the greatest nick, but could surprise. Plenty of T10s this season show that he's ready for his first PGA Tour win.. Best of luck to all.

Re: John Deere Classic 10th July 2014 I too am on Kyle Stanley @151, but seemingly every tipster I check on has tipped him too, which means he's bound to fail. He's ranked dead last in putting but his approach play has still been excellent. His putting when 2nd in 2011 was very good on the back 9, making multiple putts from 20+ feet and it was the driver that him down that day (he'd still have won had he not made that poor drive). Anyway, hoping that those memories will help him with the flat stick this week.
