Re: key race - paddy power gold cup - 16/11/2013 done two for the race just hope they run but on a few £ e/way Paddy Power Gold Cup – Cheltenham Saturday November 16th The key statistic to take into consideration here is that every winner since 1991 had already won over at least two and a half miles (including point-to-point form). It is also worth noting that 12 of the last 15 winners had also won at Cheltenham over fences and 10 of the last 12 were rated between 136 and 150. This does not look a vintage renewal of the race so the winner may not prove to be more experienced than usual. CHAMPION COURT is on target for the race and has a leading chance. He has three course victories to his name and the only time he has finished out of the first three over fences at Cheltenham in six attempts was when he finished fifth to Cue Card in the RyanAir. He handles most ground and it is worth remembering that he was beaten less than five lengths by Sir Des Champs off level weights in the Jewson. Sir Des Champs is a 170+ horse, so a mark of 157 is not too bad. He also ran very well for a long way against Long Run in the King George, so he is clearly a class act. Two and a half miles is very much his trip though and on a track that suits, he should run well and looks over priced at 14/1. THIRD INTENTION really impressed me last time out, jumping well to win at Cheltenham. Although still a novice, he has plenty of chase experience at a high level, including finishing a close second to Captain Conan at Sandown and second to Dynaste at Aintree. He was a classy hurdler also and stays this trip well. He looks to be improving and could run well at decent odds.
