Flat Racing - Thursday 5th Sep 2013

Nice wee puzzle to end the card at Salisbury kick off 17:50 Trainer Mr Hannon has a runner and he will be hoping his apprentice will do the business but am going to side with another shrewd customer in trainer Mr Mick Channon, Mr Channon owns the horse and so far from 10 starts the 3yr old colt is yet to get his first win on his CV, he was last seen 21 days ago running at Chepstow on soft ground, he wasn't given a hard time that day under apprentice jockey D.Cremin and he's again in the saddle today. Mr Channon sends out the three runners but the one that will give him the most pleasure is the one he owns, the trip has no concerns, the going could be more up his street, he has a better draw this time from door 9' - first time visitor at Salisbury is again going into the unknown ? 5:50 Salisbury - Lambert Pen.

Re: Flat Racing - Thursday 5th Sep 2013 16:50 Salisbury 1m 6f 21yds Class 2 CGA Persian Punch Conditions Stakes Selection: No Heretic – 11/8 BetVictor There is a decent card at Salisbury today and one of the highlights is the Class 2 race at 16.50, featuring No Heretic who was most recently seen at the Glorious Goodwood meeting when finishing 5th in the Group 2 Artemis Goodwood Cup, and also previous course and distance winner, Mysterious Man. The other runners making up the 6 set to go to post are Asbaab who has continued to improve in his 3 starts. The Marcus Tregoning trained Cavaleiro, previously run in the 2012 Epsom Derby and not been disgraced in listed company at Ascot and Nottingham since. Viking Storm, winner of 5 of his 20 starts and finally Suegioo who was beaten last time out by the previously mentioned Mysterious Man by 3/4 of a length at Newmarket. A case could be made for most of the runners, but I am going to side with No Heretic to improve on his 5th at Glorious Goodwood in better company last time out when finishing 5 3/4 lengths behind Brown Panther in the Group 2 Goodwood Cup over 2 miles. Despite being the 50/1 outsider of the 14 runners, No Heretic led for much of the race until 2f from home when he was eventually overtaken, he couldn't find much extra under Jim Crowley but he stayed on well to take 5th in front of some decent horses, including previous two time group race winner Mount Athos who has since gone on to be placed in Listed company, Colour Vision was another previous group winner behind the selection also. No Heretic's latest win came back in May at Newmarket in the Class 2 Qipco Supporting British Racing Stakes Handicap over 1m 4f where he beat Suegioo by 1 1/4 lengths. After racing in contention he led inside the final 2f and although he wandered up pressure the horse stayed on well towards the finish. Back in 3rd was Opinion who won the Class 2 Duke of Edinburgh Handicap at Ascot over 1m 4f the next time out. This race looks like an easier task for No Heretic to return to the winners enclosure following his recent efforts in decent company. Although he hasn't won over further than 1m 4f previously, the extra 2f should suit judging by the way he has raced over further since. The biggest danger could be Suegioo who wasn't too far behind him in the race at Salisbury and he's another who should appreciate the trip.
