Daft question #652 - Stalls and Draw

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps, I'm sure one of you knowlegable chaps can answer me a couple of questions that have got me intrigued ... 1) Is there a set of rules official/unofficial that dictate what order a horse gets put into the stalls? I may be talking crap but the faves seem to go in last? And do skittish ones get dispensation to go be one of the layer ones? and, 2) How is the draw determined? Is it entirely random? Or do trainers get a choice in a draft type style? Thanks, these are just something I've always wondered about! .... Cheers! :ok

Re: Daft question #652 - Stalls and Draw 1) Trainers can request that certain runners are put in last, or indeed first. Some that are taken down steadily often go straight into the stalls to keep them under control. Like all animals, most will behave in enclosed spaces, obviously the odds ones panic at times. If more than one horse wants to go in last you will see sometimes that they try their best to put them in together. Of the rest they used to put them in starting with odd numbers first, not sure if this is still the case? 2) The draw is computer generated at Weatherby's as soon as the final decs are in, 48hrs before the race.
