Re: England > Weekend > Skrill North & South Aug 24 Bishop's Stortford away at Maidenhead United (2/1 Bet365) A healthy price about the visitors, I feel. Bar a shaky opening day showing against Bath, Bishop's have been doing well. They could have won at Boreham Wood in a 2-2 then did win at Sutton, deservedly coming from behind. Previously 100% Bromley were beaten 1-0 on Monday. The side works hard, with a very strong and dangerous midfield, and although they have lapses defensively the clean sheet against Bromley suggests they are getting it right at that end, too. Maidenhead are unbeaten in three so are no mugs. The win at Whitehawk now seems less surprising given the Hawk's choppy start and they followed that up with a win over Hayes. The keyman in those results was not Richard Paquette but Harry Pritchard, who'll be missing for this one (and for a couple of months). He was missing in the 1-1 draw at Ebbsfleet, where they were competitive but hanging on at times, but they will miss his game-changing capabilities. In what looks like a very even match, I can't get the visitors out to 2/1.

Re: England > Weekend > Skrill North & South Aug 24 AFC Telford away at Gainsborough Trinity (19/20 Marathon) The price was a touch better last night but even the wrong side of Evs there's something in it. AFC Telford have not exactly been strutting their stuff yet but they have been strong, hard working and resilient - qualities that Liam Watson's side have in abundance. Gainsborough spent the summer shedding bodies as the full implications of losing their chairman took effect. They have been miserable in the league and Steve Housham was bemoaning the sheer lack of quality in his squad after Monday's defeat. For good measure he added that the squad is so small that they are guaranteed a start and are thus 'on easy street'. Three loanees came in yesterday but I can't see that being the answer. I wouldn't chase the price down any further but AFC Telford have the edge.

Re: England > Weekend > Skrill North & South Aug 24 Gloucester City v Guiseley The first bet of the weekend is my own team Gloucester who look a big price to beat Guiseley. I tried to oppose Guiseley in their second game against Gainsborough, but Trinity are a worse side then I thought they would be so I don’t think a win there says an awful lot. They have drawn with Colwyn Bay and beaten Workington since, but again I don’t that form is anything to write home about and for me the bookies are still pricing them up based on the fact they finished second last year, rather than based on the current squad. City have got off to a very solid start and were unlucky to lose to title favourites AFC Telford last Saturday and then beat Leamington 1-0 on Monday. In my view these two teams won’t be far away from each other in the league table come the end of the season, so the home team have to be backed at 21/10 with BetVictor and William Hill as that is too big. Boreham Wood v Eastleigh The home side have struggled since beating Tonbridge Angels on the first day of the season and given how Angels have performed on the whole since then, that win doesn’t say much. They lost both games over the bank holiday weekend 3-1 and although Eastleigh themselves only picked up one point last weekend, they had much tougher fixtures. From an ante-post point of view I am happy with how they have started their Skrill South campaign and I don’t really see why they are as big as 5/4 (Bet365) to land the three points.
