Huge Tote Payout

Did anyone notice that the 1/4F who won at Southwell last night paid over 6/1 on the Tote ! That's incredible ! Can anyone think why this might happen ? I can only think that people don't play a well odds-on shot on the Tote because they think the payout will be so miniscule But of course the fact that no one is playing the fave means that you end up with a much bigger payout than expected Might be worth keeping an eye out for these odds-on favs at the smaller meetings to see if this is a trend which could be exploited ?

Matt Chapman on ATR saying Tuesday about this happening a lot on the Tote payouts lately across a lot of meetings. He read out at least 10 occasions of where short priced favourites had won and been paid out at much bigger prices, but also named occassions where say 5/1 horses were being paid out at 5/6 or 6/4 for example. He was claiming he would e-mail a certain reporter at the Racing Post to do a feature on it to see what exactly is going on, but until that gets sorted out its definitely something the regular punter should keep an eye out for for extra value!
