Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18

Forest Green price is shortening. I cant think why. Suggests Dartford might be resting players or playing some youth players.
I haven't seen anything about Dartford making wholesale changes. Tony Burman has been shuffling the pack pretty well over the past couple of weeks, and he even rested a couple of bodies on Saturday. The price change is possibly just down to the fact that FGR are a better side on paper; though in terms of team spirit, current form, the capability of the management team, and just about any other criteria, Dartford look the more likely. They'll probably be quite motivated to go for the win here and edge above FGR in the table - a massive achievement for them. I get the impression that the FGR players aren't pulling up any trees for Hockaday at the moment, and I don't know why that would change tomorrow after their miserable run. Having said that, I don't really favour any play in this game, though I can make a case of buying total goals at 2.8.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Anyone have any opinions on the Chelmsford v Tonbridge game ?? I fancy the home team myself as they are still needing points to secure their playoff place, while the away team need the points at the other end of the table. Would appreciate any team news or views if possible. Thanks in anticipation

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Don't you think that the U 2.5 is very likely here? Forest Green cannot hit a banjo with a barn door at the moment and from what I read, they barely even created a chance in their last few games at home. Heck, they even failed to score against Telford only two weeks ago. Dartford are generally solid at the back and have kept three clean sheets in their last three away games while all of their last

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Saw Staly beat Gloucester 4-0 at the weekend and Gloucester were quite awful and only threatened once the whole match. Dogged by injuries, small squad and financial trouble i have to take their opponents Gainsboro at 7/5 even though they are on a poor run themselves.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 TV match preview: 4pts Luton vs Newport - Over 2.5 goals 4/5 BetVictor I expect us to see goals in this match. Luton are playing a more attacking formation in their last couple of matches and Newport have plenty of goal talent in their ranks, most of which will be looking to prove a point on their return to Kenilworth Road. When these two met in Wales earlier in the season the matched ended 5-2 to Newport and while I doubt (and hope!) the scoreline won’t be similar I would expect to see some goals in a match where there is no real pressure on either side. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Spread punters in our game could also do a lot worse than have a buy of Scott Griffiths' goal minutes. Think you can buy it at 3 with Sporting Index still and with Steve McNulty carrying an ankle injury he isn't going up for corners so Griffiths is going instead. Griffiths is unlikely to win a header from a corner but he had a couple of chances from knockdowns against Grimsby which he had a nosebleed with but I'm sure work will have been done there and he could easily notch. He and Martin link well down the left too so it wouldn't surprise me if they link up to put Griffiths through at some point when he bombs on. Another worth considering is Alex Lawless at 9. He's playing the number 10 role at the minute and getting in the box much more than normal. With Shaw winning flick ons Lawless is always a danger. He scored on 75 the other night and earlier in the season when playing a deeper role he scored in the 86th and 90th minutes against Nuneaton so he's one who could run up a big number from a small risk.

When these two met in Wales earlier in the season the matched ended 5-2 to Newport and while I doubt (and hope!) the scoreline won’t be similar I would expect to see some goals in a match where there is no real pressure on either side. I thought you didn't do too badly on Friday night certianly seemed an improvement of late. Hard for the teams in the play-offs as no doubt they will want to rest players in preperation for the play-offs, but at the same time will want to have momentum going into them.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18

Saw Staly beat Gloucester 4-0 at the weekend and Gloucester were quite awful and only threatened once the whole match. Dogged by injuries, small squad and financial trouble i have to take their opponents Gainsboro at 7/5 even though they are on a poor run themselves.
I will add my thoughts on the game later, but I will say that we aren't really in financial trouble as such and it certainly has had no bearing on performances on the pitch,

After years of trying we've finally found a manager who has a plan set out and knows what he wants and how he's going to do it. The last two were managing without a plan as they went along really. Heard a lot of things about John Still being a long ball manager but I've seen nothing to suggest that, in fact some of our football the other night was very pleasing to watch so with a little bit of reinforcement in the right areas there's reasons to be cautiously optimistic next season.

Although is this season is anything to go by a slow start is no barrier to winning the league. Doubtful you will be value pre season though.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Hereford v Mansfield I was originally going to leave the BSP alone and I was tempted by Tamworth given Ebbsfleet look very poor and even lost to AFC Telford on Saturday, but I couldn't pass up on backing Hereford at odds bigger than they should be. At this time of year bookies always make teams who have more to play for shorter than they would be at any other time of the season and naturally title chasing Mansfield have much more to play for than Hereford. That was also the case when Mansfield went to Braintree on Saturday and they ended up losing 2-1, blowing a 1 goal lead. They looked nervy in the 2nd half as they know they have the title in their own hands. Hereford have been a strange team this season as they have never looked like getting in the play-offs, their manager Martin Foyle has slagged his players off a few times and yet they are currently in 6th place. They are in a good run of form at the moment as well and should have beaten Gateshead on Saturday. If Braintree can take advantage of Mansfield's nerves then so can Hereford and they should not be as big as 19/5 (Stan James). Gloucester v Gainsborough I was pretty keen to take Gloucester on tonight as injuries and tiredness caught up with them on Saturday when they lost 4-0 to Stalybridge. Gloucester currently have about 7 fit players and it says a lot when their 45 year old manager had to come on as a sub last week at Harrogate. I saw them a couple of weeks ago against Bishops Stortford and they still had plenty of energy despite a lack of fit players and deserved the win, but I think it is natural everything was going to catch up with them eventually and Saturday they were poor. The problem is Gainsborough are not in great form themselves and were also poor on Saturday. They have only won once in their last 6, although they have had to play the top 2 and Harrogate in that spell. They managed one shot in the first half on Saturday against Colwyn Bay and lost 1-0 all be it to a team fighting for survival. If they play like that again then anything might happen, but if they play anywhere near like they can I suspect they will have too much for a weakened City side. As I say though the stake is reduced given how they played on Saturday.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18

Don't you think that the U 2.5 is very likely here? Forest Green cannot hit a banjo with a barn door at the moment and from what I read' date=' they barely even created a chance in their last few games at home. Heck, they even failed to score against Telford only two weeks ago. Dartford are generally solid at the back and have kept three clean sheets in their last three away games while all of their last[/quote'] The stats are strongly on your side - Dartford aren't conceding away (one in four, following 12 conceded in the preceding four away games); FGR aren't scoring at home (just three in the last eight). I can't help thinking, though, that there might be a higher chance of goals tonight than the stats suggest. Dartford look well equipped up front if they decide to go for it, which they may well do as there is a chance to finish above FGR this season. It's expecting a lot for FGR to click suddenly - Hockaday has given no hint that he knows the best blend of the capable players at his disposal - but they can be a dangerous side. If this were a mid-season game with the sides in the same form, I wouldn't touch this play, but because of the end-of-season feel to things, I've bought total goals at 2.7 with Spreadex. It's counter-factual, but then so are two-thirds of the results in this section!

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Hi Guys, What do you think about Ebbsflett - Tamworth ? Home team is no chance to stay in the league. The away team is still fight to stay in the league. Otherwise, interesting H2H. Each season: one time wins Ebbsflett, and one time wins Tamworth. I think away win is worth to try. What do you think about it ? (Sorry for my bad English )

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 A couple of fixed odds plays for me... Bishop's Stortford at home to Worcester City (7/5 BetVics) Beaten once away since January, the home side really can't win on their own patch, but I think they'll have a decent chance against a Worcester side that is still suffering from injuries and has a youthful look about it. While both sides are averse to clean sheets, Worcester haven't scored in five away games. Hitchin Town away at Redditch United (8/5 Marathon) It feels odd to be backing a side that has only once away since Christmas but Hitchin's form has improved markedly and they were well worth the point at Chesham on Saturday. Redditch's game on Saturday was called off late, but not before the teams were announced and that showed just two on the bench for Redditch. They'll be stronger tonight but it shows that resources are depleted at the moment and regular keeper Dan Platt, brought in last month to steady the defensive unit, is definitely missing. Met Police at home to Bognor Regis Town (23/20 BetVics, Marathon) Playing Wednesday. A couple of chirpier results and performances have put a gloss on Bognor's season, but they still have a softish underbelly and I think a play-off chasing Met Police are worth considering at this price. To be fair, the Police haven't always done themselves justice at home but they certainly deserved more than a defeat when they lost to Thurrock at Imber Court recently. They were missing a host of players at Margate on Saturday and still conjoured a win; they'll be stronger on Wednesday and I think this a decent price.

As I mention in my preview I was tempted by Tamworth, especially as they were well beaten by the bottom side on Saturday. I just think Tamworth are priced up about right though, but I could not put you off backing them.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Mansfield to win @1.75 is a sitter here for me today. They play a more difficult game with Wrexham @ Saturday and have chance to sit on top of the table today. Last match was somelike strength saving for this one today. Also, they have a good record with top teams and I dont see them throwing away points. But fun fact is that our (Kidderminster) fans will give support on Hereford stadium to beat Stags today.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Braintree draw @ 3.9 (one unit) and outright win @ 4.53 (half unit) Hereford draw @ 3.95 (one unit) and outright win @ 5.22 (half unit) Dartford draw @ 3.91 (one unit) and outright win @ 4.28 (half unit) I'm convinced that with little to play for anything can happen...Mansfield do need to win, of course, but Hereford are no pushovers. Wrexham probably don't care which team they play in the first round, except possibly Kiddy, the only top team to beat them (twice even). I'll be curious whether they throw their final game at Mansfield in order to keep Kiddy out (they'll be rotating anyway).

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Apr 15-18 Decent enough night for me. Bishop's Stortford failed but Hitchin won and goals in FGR/Dartford made up with a 2.3 profit. Great calls by AFK 47 and addpea on Gainsborough last night, Kevshat on Luton/Newport overs, hazader on Mansfield, and allthethings on Braintree X and Dartford win (and pretty close to a Hereford X, too). The season might be winding down but good to see this thread still on it!
