2.30 Huntingdon - Mentalist 11/2 Bet365 BOG I think this is a fairly poor race in truth and there arent too many horses involved that look capable of defying their mark. One of those horses is the favourite who bolted up LTO but I get the feeling he didnt really beat much that day a 10lb rise in a mildly better race puts enough doubts in my mind. The one I am keen on is Mentalist who represents the constantly in form Venetia Williams yard. He wasnt at his best LTO and jumped poorly but that may have been down to the ground being too heavy for him, so back on this better surface I think he should have a good chance. He may have ran below form LTO but that race worked out well with the first 2 showing improved form since. The run that intrigues me the most is when he won at Ludlow, where he battled on gamely to beat a horse that was in good form prior to that run. The 3rd has also placed since. Before that his two runs over this type of trip both give him a good shout off a mark of 115 so I am hoping that he runs well.

Re: BBOTD Thursday 21st Feb S3.40 Phase Shift 1pt Win 8/1 Bet365 Danny Cook does really well for Brian Ellison and I assume Ellison has applied the tongue tie for the first time with a view to the horse finishing its races better. The horse usually finishes in the places but doesn't win often, hopefully the tongue tie will show the required improvement. The course, ground and trip should be just about right so hopefully it will run well off bottom weight in this soft ground.
