Flat Racing Tuesday 16th of October

Recommended Posts

*Young Lou - Leicester 5:40* If it could reproduce it's run where 5th to Vow, or just build on that a bit, it would certainly put it in the frame here in this race. I think the booking of Harry Bentley is a positive, i think he is one of the best young riders out there, and also interesting that run behind Vow, when 5th of 14, came on soft ground, tomorrow's forecast, and could be the type that goes on soft better than any other ground. The trainer Robin Dickin is in great form with 3 winners from the last 5 runners. *0.5 Points e/w @ 16/1 Bet365 BOG*

Re: Flat Racing Tuesday 16th of October 5.20 - Wolverhampton - Duke Of Aricabeau @ 10/1 Bet365 Only win from 13 career starts came at Doncaster back in June over 6f, bettered that when going down by a neck to the re-opposing Chester Aristocat in August. Has been in and out of form since but seemed to go nicely on polytrack last time out over 6f and looked as if tomorrows step up to 7f would help. Been dropped a few lbs for past couple of efforts and wears blinkers for the first time which may also help. Adam Kirby booked for the ride which looks a positive and could just be overpriced at double figure odds i feel.

Re: Flat Racing Tuesday 16th of October 5.20 Wolverhampton Dark Lane has been running to a consistent level but has yet to convince he stays 7f and for that reason looks opposable despite good draw. Lady Layla looks a very short price having put in 2 disappointing efforts last twice but prior to that has been in good form over CD and obvious hope is that polytrack brings him back to life but looks far to risky at present. Big Wave returned to form last time out over CD when trying 7f for the first time staying on really well under a patient ride. Probably better off with a prominent ride drawn 7 might be a little tough but wouldn’t be an obvious choice to back that effort up. Whos Shirl isn’t straightforward and does need a strong pace to chase and got that last time out when getting a wide run throughout and got caught very wide into the home straight and isn’t always easy to win from their and ended up hanging towards stands rail away from everyone else but finished well. Runs off same mark tonight and if can get a better run through should see her go close again given she is now 9lb below last winning mark. 2pt win Whos Shirl 11/2 vc 7.20 Wolverhampton Competitive handicap with several in form types and a few of these have a good chance. Noverre To Go should find this tougher than the claimer he ran in last week when 2nd behind Red Cape who too should find this tougher both aren’t getting any younger and there marks reflect what they have shown this season and likely to find this tougher for all both go well on the AW. Sutton Veny and Arctic Lynx are identically matched as when they met over CD last week, Arctic Lynx was given a very patient ride that day from a wide draw and did make eye catching late headway but that is often the story with him and mark may just beyond him maybe and becoming a bit of a monkey to win with drawn wide again and no obvious reason for turning tables unless ridden very different. Sutton Veny returned from a few lesser efforts last time out yard had been going through a quiet spell but just signs of better things recently which offers hope but she too is on a long losing run and is only a 1lb below last winning mark but would be far more attractive back at Kempton. Hopes N Dreams was hit hard by handicapper having won 2 handicaps at Hamilton at beginning of year, mark now looks on the harsh side and also form on polytrack in Ireland some way below his turf form. Amoure Medici is a progressive 3yr old and has really improved for the fitting of the hood on polytrack, has a good record on the AW aswell with 7 runs 3 wins and 3 placed efforts. He has had potential excuses last twice with wide draws, much better drawn this time out and improved again last time out when beating another progressive sort in Theresnoneedfordat over CD, further 8lb higher today but they both pulled well clear of the remainder and looks the sort that has more improvement in him yet. 2pt win Amoure Medici 9/2 vc 8.20 Wolverhampton Borug won last time out but is not a reliable sort to confirm that, not only that he is badly drawn and a 6lb rise makes him look vunerable back on polytrack along with a step up in trip. Spensley returned to something like his best last time out at his beloved Kempton over this trip, this is his first run around here which is a slight concern but Fallon does get on well with him. Den Maschine has improved some 31lb in the handicap since February. He has won 3 from 4 over CD and clearly loves it around here. Last 2 efforts when finishing 2nd have been over further and should find this drop back in trip much more to his liking. Up a further 2lb since last effort and although 10lb above last winning mark he is clearly still going the right way and tonights jockey booking is eye catching with very useful apprentice claiming a handy 5lb. 2pt win Den Maschine 11/2 vc

Re: Flat Racing Tuesday 16th of October 19.20 Wolverhampton: Arctic Lynx @ 11/2 VC Wrote this about him eight days ago:

16.00 Wolverhampton: Arctic Lynx @ 7/1 Betfair He looked a bit high in the weights this summer but his most recent performance in a ultra competitive sprint at Sandown really caught my eye indeed. He was a bit outpaced in the middle of the race bust still travelled okay till 2f out or so when he had though a wall of horses in front of him and nowhere to go. He switched to the inside eventually and finished the race nicely only hands and heels ridden and surly could have gone closer with a clear run. This was a pretty messy race but the form works out really well with Face The Problem being subsequently placed and also a winner in very hot class 2 sprints and subsequent winners Kyleakin Lass & Ajjaadd. Arctic Lynx drops in class today, back in a class 4 Handicap and he goes up in distance, back over 6f - all his wins came over this distance so this should definitely suit - he's done well on the All-Weather in recent years as well and also drops 2lb in the mark. In addition he has the very talented apprentice Michael J M Murphy in the saddle who takes off another 5lb and which must give Arctic Lynx all in all a massive chance here today.
Same applies today as I thought he was unlucky not to finish closer lto as he was slightly hampered and didn't have the clearest run in the closing stages. He should go well today again as he is able to race off the same mark again. 20.50 Wolverhampton: Hard Road @ 7/2 VC Still a maiden but the most recent performance was excellent und suggests that he's in fine form and poised to win a race. He was racing there in rear of the field and had to go wide around the home bend to make headway while not in best position though when the leaders kicked away off a slow pace. Suddenly a massive gap between the leading trio and the rest of the field developed and all horses from behind had no chance whatsoever. Hard Road though ran on very well and finished a fine fourth. Despite that he's down another 1lb in the mark and that should only enhance his chance here today.

Re: Flat Racing Tuesday 16th of October 3.40 Leicester - 1pt win Crystal Gal @ 11/2 (Hills) Top-rated runner in here and this is more reasonable than some of the races she's competed in previously. She's been seen sparingly of late with two of her last three runs coming after a fairly long absence. She is race fit today, however, and wasn't totally disgraced in a Group 3 in Ireland back in March. Has won on soft ground and must have a big shout on her best form. Her wellbeing is in question but she was entitled to need her latest run and this is probably the easiest race she's run in for quite a while.
