Backing & laying the same horse.

I don't know if this is the right forum to ask this question, but i will ask here & if it wrong i apologise in advance. I have been looking at betting on Betdaq & have noticed that while some people are offering lays of 40. on a horse, someone else could be looking to back that same horse for odds of as little as 3.5 (?). this seems to be quite a big arb & was wondering if anybody has taken advantage & took both bets in a situation like this?

Re: Backing & laying the same horse. I think you better read the HELP again. You cannot have an arb on the same market, in this case a horse. If that situation would arise the back bet would be matched with the Lay bet. I think you got Back and Lay confused. If you back 1 at 3.5 and the horse wins you win 2.5 If you back 1 at 3.5 and the horse loses you lose 1 If you Lay 1 at 40 and the horse wins you lose 40 If you Lay 1 at 40 and the horse loses you win 1 To take both bets means you always lose, not win :banghead
