Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown)

With just a month to go until the Goliath and people winning seats from several different places, thought it was best to see who will be attending and to start gather the teams together so we can maximise the chances of PL defending it's Team Challenge Crown from last year. Please let us know if you will be attending, if you've already got a seat and how you would like teams to be drawn up, i.e. - Do you want to select your own teams amongst yourselves? - Do you want them to be based on starting days? - Do you want them to be based on those likely to use re-entry or not? - Do you want them allocated on first come, first served basis? - Do you want them to be drawn randomly together. Couple of exceptions already drawn up;

1. Graeme has arranged a charity based team kindly sponsored by Grosvenor as per his other thread
2. Think it's only right that last years exceptional winning team also have the option to stay together if they so wish?

I/fellow mods will update the "placeholder" 2nd post with current teams/individuals attending. What The Goliath is a GUKPT festival that is bidding to regain the European record for largest land based tournament. It will provide a big prizepool at a modest buyin with a charity element too. Bah, didn't get that last year. :( I surmise that Jon Seal (robbiebox on PL I think) took the seat that Mark (PokerPad) won last year and cannot use. Will need confirmation that he wants to adopt the Punters C team. (C for Champions of course!) I've just won another seat tonight in the PL league, but see from the Goliath rules that you cannot re-enter on the same day, so doesn't look like I would be able to use it even if I bust out (not planning on going down to Cov before day 1c). Likely I will offer it for staking, will sort out when league is finished. :ok

Like you said there's everything to gain from being in a team and at no cost to the individual, so I'm just hopeful that we can get as many teams filled as possible. Obviously the more teams we can enter under the Punters Lounge banner, the more exposure our great forum receives and more likelyhood of being able to secure onward sponsorship/exclusive added value. Win win. I would also dearly love PL to succesfully defend the Team title and show everyone what a force we are with strength in depth ;) Please let me know your thoughts, If no-one comes forward with any suggestions or preferences, I will happily co-ordinate a drawing up of teams with a random selection being made by an independant person.

If I were to win one of the seats I would also play for a Team if the Spot was available. I have had to book the time off work already and would be able to play either day1b or 1c. I have no idea if i will make it through to any of the following days and was planning to take my sleeping bag and if i cant find a hotel on the day sleep in my car! As i dont want to book and then get knocked out! What your experience with this type of tourne? I will be playing on the Friday, so i if i do get through, will continue playing on the Saturday.

I think the rest of the team are playing day 1c, and there should be great media coverage of the team for the charity etc, were all donating 60% to the charity, so 40% to play for.

i was going to play 2 days just in case i burn out on 1b mate so what happens if i play 1b and make it through and im playing 1c for you wouldnt be fair to say yes i think

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) table updated up to this point. @Heniek - Best of luck mate, would be awesome to do back to back championships :hope @tharabbit - Casino is just to the side of the Coventry football stadium so parking isn't a problem (as long as no football on that weekend which I'm guessing they've logistically avoided). There is a hotel in the same complex (de Vere or Ricoh Stadium hotel if you want to google). Think it's £50+ per night. I and other PL'ers often stay at the Travelodge (Bedworth) just a mile or two up the road. This usually is £28+ per night and if you ask in advance they can usually accomodate 2 or 3 in a room if you're happy to share with someone. Will probably be several PL'ers up there so trips down to venue shouldn't be a problem i.e. share car or taxis. @everyone - keep the updates coming along with your thoughts on whether you want to select your own teams or do a random draw Edit: If I've inadvertently missed something, shout it out again, cheers ;)

Still hopeful that I will be able to make 1 of them, but obviously & understandably family come first. And once the teams have been chosen, am happy to share a room at the local travelodge with 2/3 people and split the costs (as long as there are no snorers!) Aim to get to the venue a little earlier than normal.

Re: Goliath - The Team Challenge (Summary of PL Teams defending our crown) I'll look to finalise this all in a couple of days to give plenty of time to register teams etc. Due to the lack of any replies suggesting alternative arrangements, can I assume that everyone is happy with a random drawing of teams? Are last years champions also happy with this? or did you want to stay together? Unless I hear otherwise will look to draw teams on Wednesday/Thursday. Where there are odd numbers, suggest better having a couple of teams of 5 players than ending up with a team with only 2 or 3 players. Will hopefully give everyone a good chance at the team title/value. Please also shout out any changes, seat transfers, preferences etc. Seen a couple in the league thread which I noted but haven't updated yet.

Have also retained the "Champions" team as per the consensus & also the lucky "Punters Lounge C" name from last year. Appreciate the posts guys, many thanks. At present (excluding the Champions & Charity teams) it looks like we have 13 players + several possibles to fit into teams, these will be drawn randomly in a couple of days. If anyone has already put a team together, please post in this thread or pm me before the random draw. Similarly any changes to the list, any transfer of seats, additions, correction of mistakes/omissions etc, please notify me here or pm a.s.a.p.
