Flat Racing 13th Feb

1.55 Southwell Several of these are making comeback runs after a winter away clearly to ready them for a turf campaign so not a race to get heavily involved in, Klynch has only ran here once and finished 2nd off 57 has since claimbed the ranks now running off 82 and was out of form at end of the year but yard in good form will be interesting to see how he gets on. Victorian Bounty is another making seasonal debut today but is 1 from 1 over CD but record fresh uninspiring. Gallagher is another Ruth Carr runner making seasonal debut, no fibresand experience and has appeared to be in decline the past 2 years and has a lot to prove for now! Punching has a good record here and ran reasonable well over the 5f trip which is too sharp last time out, expect better today but all recent form comes in sellers and claimers and this is a hot handicap. Joe Le Taxi has caught the eye more than once since returned to this yard but has proved expensive to follow and to me just looks like one to avoid at present at short odds. Perhaps forgive his run last time out hanging badly left at Kempton should appreciate a return here but stall 1 makes things tough and this is a much stronger race than he has been running in recently. Suddenly Susan looks high enough in the weights since her easy success again in a weaker grade and wont get an easy time of things up front. Caldercruix has been a model of consistency recently but is paying for that with the handicapper not budging and he does look held off his current mark. Hatta Stream is likely to be prominent and has been in great form on the polytrack this winter, only ever raced on this surface once in a bumper so this is different all together so be interesting to see how she gets on. Close To Edge is another that has little room for error off his current mark and may just need a hand from the handicapper. For me Toby Tyler offers a little bit of value in a competitive race, not seen since October when winning for the 6th time last year, only 4lb higher today and goes very well around here this race should be run to suit for him and stall 9 should put him in the ideal position if he is ready to go after a winter break. 1pt e/w Toby Tyler 16/1 pp 5.05 Southwell There was a lot to like about Transonic last week, he looked well in the paddock before hand and he appeared to go off plenty quick enough with another rival who weakened out of it badly so looking at the race again he appeared to do very well. First time cheekpieces at the step up in trip looked to suit well and is now a 7 time winner around here. Life is of course gonna be harder back in handicaps but even under a penalty he is 6lb below his last handicap winning mark and he does usually hokd his form well. Unlikely to get an easy time out front his Declan will need to be awake and make sure he doesnt go off to hard with an extra furlong to see out today. 3pt win Transonic 6/4 vc
