Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 12 Worcester City v Gainsborough Trinity Gainsborough to win @2.60 5pts Info by Postman Pat

Worcester City v Gainsborough Trinity @ 2.60 (bet365) Maybe a game too soon for new high profile manager Andy Preece in charge of Worcester. His mission until the end of the season is to stop the slide that is threatening to send them out of the division. Preece had a tough opening match against high flying Southport and despite a warm reception from the crowd the visitors had the game wrapped up by half time scoring 3 in the first half. Preece is going to use the next few games to all the playing staff a chance on the field so he can make his own judgements about the side. Gainsborough are now 4 points off a play off spot and have yet to play Worcester this season. Gainsborough appear to be very solid at the back and nearly came away from Southport the other week but to be undone by a 93 minute goal. They have acquired a young attacking/midfielder from Halifax to help the push towards the end of the season and Ellington seems to get his fair share of goals up front.
Gone on this one myself incidently Sco

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 14 (Bradford game was 13!) Bury V Shresbury Lay Bury with liability of 5pts - would return 9.24 if wins Info by Deets and others

There's a possibility I might go to Bury tomorrow. I was there when they beat Northampton a couple of weeks ago. 2 bad mistakes by the away centre half and Bury won 2-0. Very lucky that day in my opinion but they have massive hearts and if nothing else will give 110% for the cause. The club is in dire financial trouble AGAIN although they might have avoided administration at least until the end of the season. The manager will be happy this season to avoid relegation to the conference due to the financial position. He recently sold 2 of the better players, Nugent ( PNE ) and Swailes ( Macclesfield ). Add to this the injuries they have recently picked up and the U21 call ups and this adds up to a big ask tomorrow. Just a side topic, this match was posponed recently when Shrewsbury were held up on the M6 due to a crash ! They had a number of injuries to key players that day. Bury were at full strength ( before the transfers ! ). Bury asked for the match tomorrow to be postponed due to the call ups but the league refused. I don't know the punishment for Shrewsbury that day but certainly tomorrow it will be adavantage Shrewsbury thanks to the football league ( tossers ) I suspect Bury's team tomorrow will be something like Marriot, Unsworth, Challinor, Woodthorpe, Cartledge, Kennedy, Barry-Murphy, Flitcroft, Whaley, Newby, Kazim-Richards and probably a new lad signed on loan today from Blackburn. Subs will be the reserve team players I presume. Any injuries during the game and Bury will be in shit street. Regulars are in bold. If there was a team I'd like to play in this position, its probably Shrewsbury who are no great shakes themselves although they had a tremendous win on Saturday, 4-1 at home to Orient. Their away record is 1-5-8 so I suppose you could take the view they are due another win. Bury know its a must win otherwise the trapdoor will beckon even more. They are 11 pts clear of next to the bottom Kidderminster but with 48 pts still to play for, every point will be vitally important.

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 15 Bolton V Middlesborogh Bolton to win @2.2 Stan James 5pts Info by SecondSight

Bolton/Boro - Sky 5.15pm Saturday. Bolton must have at least 50% chance of beating Boro. They could not have picked a better time to play Boro. 7 wins on the trot for Bolton including defeat of Arsenal, Boro have not won away since October with only draws at Soton and Norwich. Boro have 9 players out, Bolton close to full strength. More importantly the midfield has been ripped out with injuries and suspensions (Boateng (seeing a toe specialist on Monday ), Zenden (1 match suspension), Parlour (1 match suspension), (Mendieta out till May). Bolton will bombard the Boro box with high balls, long throws etc as the Boro defence has crumbled in recent weeks under this sort of pressure and Kevin Davies can be a real handful, After Saturday it looks better for Boro with Zenden, Parlour, Cooper and Davies (on loan at QPR) returning. Bolton have the added advantage of leap frogging Boro with a win and claiming a top 6 spot. Boro did put up a real fighting display last week and dominated the first half against Blackburn, but were on the back foot a little in second half. Boro know their home games are more vital than away at present, as the 3 points are easier to gain at home. At the end of the game last week Boro had 5 youth academy or recent academy players on the pitch and as Hansen said you win nowt with kids at this level. Betting advice: Take anything greater than evens for Bolton. Kevin Davies to score any time at 7/4 looks value too, I would have thought 40% chance of scoring. Overall weighting 50% Bolton 28% Draw 22% Boro
Bet 16 Everton V Chelsea Lay Chelsea @1.86 Liability of 5pts (Would return 10.75) Info by ShermanBlue
Initial thought is Everton are way overpriced against Chelsea at home (5.00 with SJ). Everton 9 of 13 wins at Goodison and undervalued all year by the bookies, they've shrugged off the loss of Gravesen and are still grinding out results, don't score many don't conceed many. Of course the big question is can Chelsea overcome the loss of Robben. For me this is akin to Arsenal losing Henry .. yes we still have great players in all positions and we will still win much more than we lose or draw but like Henry for Arsenal, Robben is the one player that makes this team truly unique and a class apart from the other top teams. The 5.0 price on EVE is too good to refuse although I'm also considering taking the Chelsea handicap at 3.2. If Chelsea are ahead then they will definitely protect the lead and look to hit on the break so can see this easily being 0-0 or 2-0 with a late Lampard or Joe Cole effort Personally I still think Chelsea will win the league but interesting to consider the 7.5 available right now on United - after City this wkend they have 5 games against weak teams Pompey H, Palace A, Fulham H, Blackburn H and Norwich A before they Chelsea visit Old Trafford in what will no doubt be dubbed the title decider. With Robben out for a while the lead could easily start to diminish before then.

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Well I dont know what happened here...I was sure that I posted my selection up for Arsenal game over 2.5? I came to the thread to work out the new bank and couldn't find the post. Anyway as no-one seems to be following the thread (with money at least) I am going to include it as I know that it was a bet I made, and is included in my spreadsheet. If anyone has any objections then il take it off. Bet 18 Arsenal V C. Palace Over 2.5 betfair 5pts@ 1.7 Info by SecondSight

Arsenal/Palace Looks high scoring to me, neither team keeps many clean sheets. 90 goals in 26 games this season for both teams, suggest at least 3 goals in the game. I also feel it will not be a one sided game. Palace could create a surprise. I thought they played well against Bolton despite losing, also beat a fancied Spurs side 3-0 lately and got a point at WBA with 10 men for alot of the game. Should be good Palace away support for short trip too. AK has not liked betting on Arsenal of late and the facts tend to back him up. Arsenal only managing to draw at home to WBA and Southampton. Great win at Villa for Arsenal but was that an after reaction to the poor display at home to MU or was that the real Arsenal at Villa? My prediction is 2-1 or 3-2 to Arsenal, but I am not discounting 2-2 shock. Interesting that Ladbrokes were quoting best odds on Arsenal at 1/4, they were keen to get punters backing Arsenal, but they have reduced odds to 1/5 so punters were keen on the Arsenal at 1/4

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Sco, systems are long term things, you can't say anything sensible on a soccer system after only 18 bets. Takes about 100 before any analysis becomes sensible :\ Why post the systems here ? First of all you need to run a system for yourself, not others. For any system to be efficient 2 factors are key : you need to run it with discipline and keep accurate records. Thats what posting here will do for you. If you are wondering about how much the system is followed check the view count, that tells you howmany views you are getting. Obviously it rises faster when profitable :lol , but that may take some effort. Keep it up mate :ok

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Yes - second the last two comments too. It's early days here - but as I said earlier in the thread I hope you keep at this one as I think it's promising - my guess is that you'll learn how to filter the info into what is relevant when deciding on a selection, and results will improve. I think it's amusing that there is another thread here - 'swimming against the tide' - which in essence is the exact opposite of this one. This time taking the more spurious comments posted in the forum and backing against these selections... I think both ideas can work in the long run. SO to encourage - good luck - and stick with it please - very interested in end of season results.:ok

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 19 Duisberg V Munich Lay Duisberg 5ptsliability (possible payout of 10.91) Info by Kojic2003

MSV Duisburg v TSV 1860 Munchen I just saw some very, very interesting news on the German TV, so there is no point to wait anything.Duisburg are facing huge squad problems right now and I’m pretty sure these high odds on Munchen will drop till Monday when the news(Kicker.de) get published.Duisburg's strongest lineup is well known: Koch – Wolters, Drsek, Baelum, Bugera – Voss, Ivica Grlic, Lottner, van Houdt – Ahanfouf, Kurth, but they go into this game without the services of first-choice goalkeeper Koch(five yellow cards), playmaker Ivica Grlic(red card), while both Voss and Peter van Houdt are very doubtful(none of the played against Essen last week) and according to latest news, they are likely to miss the game as well. So, except Lottner, the hosts are likely to have three second-choice midfielders(Wehlage, Spizak, Meyer???) in the starting lineup(including the second-choice goalkeeper), and the absence of former Cottbus goalkeeper Koch is even the bigger blow as he was really outstanding this season.Duisburg were totally outclassed and humiliated at Essen last week. They lost only 0:1, but the hosts could have easily won by 3, 4 or even more goals(a lot of amazing saves by Koch) as they dominated the game from start to finish, producing their best performances of the season!Duisburg have the home advantage here and this is the only reason why I’m not going to take the straight away win, but Munchen, who are a different team after the winter break, should have enough for them IMO.The Lions are in clear uptrend period for a while, they are full of confidence after some of a very good results recently, most of their players are in top form(especially Kolomaznik and Matthias Lehmann), they have no any squad problems and under the current circumstances they are simply worth of support.Munchen really need these points and I truly believe they can succeed in this mission as they're still one of the biggest promotion candidates.Add in the fact that Duisburg’s biggest star Ahanfouf(top scorer) is totally out of form at the moment.TSV 1860 Munchen +3/4(1.93 at PointBet) is too good to miss IMO! Good Luck!
I see a bit of value here so have gone for it! Sco

Djurgradens are without several key players for tonights game too including playermaker Tobias Hysén and the Keeper, introducing several U21's. Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 21 Wigan V Leeds Lay Wigan 5pts on Betfair (Would return 10.32) Info by Keemanan (And general thread)

Now Leeds smack of a poss outsider , I'd back The pie eaters every time away from the JJB but at home they seem to get the jitters. 1 win in 4 home games recently ,Leeds have won their last 2 away , this is an amazing price and one I'd never thought I'd see. Bet 22 Brighton V Sunderland Sunderland to win 5pts@ 2.20 Info by Keemanan
Brighton v Sunderland , now this does interest me , a game that McCarthy will be looking to win without a doubt . On paper and form Sunderland looked nailed on and anything over evens is a must IMO.Brighton no win in 4 lost their last 2 , the mackams beat them 2-0 at home. 3 wins in 4 for Sunderland , I fancy them to be too much for Brighton going for that automatic promotion.
Bet 23 Chesterfield V Sheff Wed Wednesday to win 5pts@ 2.74 Info by AndyCoull
Chesterfield vs Sheff Wed. Found this useful... Moving into League One and Sheffield Wednesday look a big price to bounce back from last week's derby defeat against Bradford. As Wednesday fans will tell you on any football forum the Owls should never be backed at Hillsborough as time and time again they manage to turn winning situations into losing ones, but on the road they are a different kettle of fish. Paul Sturrock's side have lost only three times away from home this season and sitting in fourth place they are well-positioned to make the end-of-season promotion lottery that is the play-offs. Last week's defeat against the Bantams was a big blow but with teams around them also slipping up, the defeat was a little easier to take, and a win at Saltergate on Saturday would get them nicely back on track. The Owls head to Chesterfield having avoided defeat in their last seven away games and bearing in mind they have gone to places such as Luton, Bournemouth, Barnsley and Bristol City in this unbeaten run, it's fair to say that Owls fans are right to state on the forums that if you are thinking of backing Sturrock's boys to avoid defeat, do it when they are on the road! Prior to last Saturday's setback the Owls had gone 10 games unbeaten and at 8/5 they look too big a price to see off a Chesterfield side who were extremely fortunate to win at Doncaster last weekend. Roy McFarland's side were completely outplayed by Donny and nicked a 1-0 win when they managed to find the net with their only shot on target! Taking that freak win out of the equation the Spireites have managed to win just one of their last 10 matches and at home they have lost two out of their last three, including recently letting four goals in against a Wrexham side that currently sit third-from-bottom. These two side shared a 2-2 draw at Hillsborough back in October but Wednesday are different side these days and while Chesterfield will be buoyed by last week's win, it remains to be seen whether they can get the better of Sturrock's well-drilled promotion hopefuls.
Some good info this week, might be back with a few more when I get back from work. Sco

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Tulenos Bet 22 Villareal v Atletico Villareal to win 5pts 1.97 Info by Tulenos

Quite surprised @ the odds for the home win here. Guess you can easily get 1.94 or 1.95 if this makes any difference for you, but there is not enough available at such levels now. Well - Villareal is all the rage atm with 5 straight wins and just one loss, Atletico a bit more shaky, sp. away from home. The season's form reads 7-3-1 for Vill. @ home and 2-3-7 for Atl. away. H2Hs read 3-1-0 for matches @ Villareal. Maybe the books have misinterpreted the H2H stats as Atletico owns Villareal, but only in matches played @ their home pitch. The way I see it, getting nearly evens is a steal.

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 23 Coventry v Wigan - 2.2 StanJames Wigan to win 5pts 2.2 Info by Mr Muzeman

Again a nice price on an inform wigan looking to hunt down Ipswish at the top. With strikers Ellington and Roberts theyre always liable to score. Coventry have a 5-4-7 home record and are 1-1-4 in their last 6 homes. Pretty poor form overall as well with 7 losses from their last 9 games. They did win away to reading at the weekend but theyre in bad shape at the moment too and from what I hear Reading should have had it wrapped up by half time but spurned chances. Wigan sport an 8-5-3 away record, very strong, along with winning their last 3 away games on the bounce. They have won 6 of their last 10 away. They have only played 2 bottom 6 sides away so far but have beaten them both. Anything against odds is attractive here and worth a go. I see no reason why Wigan cant oblige with a win here.
Bet 23 Ipswich v Watford - 8/15 (StanJames/Willhill/Sportingodds) Ipswitch to win 5pts 1.53 Info by Mr Muzeman
No suprise here but I feel the price is more than acceptable and not too short at all. I like betting doubles with two odds on games and this is my midweek nap. Ipswich have a 13-2-1 home record and are 5-0-1 in their last 6 homes. They have actually won 8 of their last 9 homes. A great strike partnership of Bent and Kuqi always supply goals. They will definitely be seeing this as an opportunity to take a stronghold at the top of the table. Watford are not as good as I expected them to be near the start of the season. They languish in the lower half and wont go down but cause no playoff scare either. They have a 4-5-7 away record but more importantly have lost 5 of their last 6 aways. They are weak at the back too conceding 15 goals in their last 6 aways. Considering Ipswich are the leagues highest scorers, it would suprise me if they didnt notch at least 2 and probably 3 here.
Hopefully two winners here....:hope Sco

Villa v Everton. Villa have lost 8 of the last 13 in the Prem, but won 3 of the last 7. This fixture ended 0-0 last season. Everton have not won away for over 3 months & have a poor record @ Villa Park, they have only won once in 19 games there in the last 20 years, in 1987, therefore they have never won there in the Prem. Overall h2hs is led by Everton 68-67 with 44 draws. Everton have lost the last 2, admittedly Chelsea & Man Utd, but struggled against United without the suspended Cahill & Beattie, who again miss out. Bent will play alone up front as I believe Ferguson is still out with a back injury (not 100% on this
A great price here for a team who I think have a great chance here. Sco

Alemannia Aachen(1.80 at Bet365)!!! :eek :eek :eek Take it immediately! They’re going to see off Aue IMO, quite easily… Erzgebirge Aue are in good run(3 consecutive wins), but they enjoyed some very, very lucky moments recently. The 2:1 win over Furth is fully deserved, but other wins?Jesus…First a crazy win at Ahlen, then a pure luck in last week’s 1:0 win over Haching(Francisco Copado missed a penalty in 90’)! Aue held Aachen to a 1:1 draw earlier in the season, but Aachen totally dominated the game, producing one of their best performances in this season campaign. As I already said in the UEFA Cup topic, Aachen coach Hecking will finally be able to field a strong side as they’re getting some very important players back from injury/suspension. They lost 0:1 to Koln last week, but it was a pure robbery(Aachen had a clear goal disallowed in the second half), so I strongly believe they’ll be highly motivated on Sunday afternoon.

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 26 Sparta Rotterdam v TOP Oss - 1.48 Centrebet Sparta Rotterdam to win 5pts 1.48 Info by Mr Brightside

Sparta are 2nd in the Dutch Division 1 (league below top one), 3pts behind leaders Heracles but with a game in hand and much better goal difference. Tomorrow night they play 13th place Top Oss in Rotterdam. Sparta have been in great form of late with 14 points from the last 18 and a GD of 19:7 in those games. Top Oss have only taken 6 points from last 18 with only 4 goals scored in those games. In their last 3 aways they have scored one and conceded 7. Away from they are very poor with a total of 5 points from 33 with only 9 goals scored and 30 conceded, nearly 3 a game. Take Sparta to continue their recent great form tomorrow night. The price at Centrebet is huge - 20% bigger than the next best 1.40. Thats a mistake from Centrebet in my view.
Well as a few people are on this, we will be too:tongue2 Sco

Re: Bets picked by Punterslounge 2005! (Football) Bet 27 Cagliari v Atlanta - 1.61 Centrebet Cagliari to win 5pts 1.61 Info by Crackout and KK_ghost

Have to agree with Crackout about Cagliari. It's going to be my home banker for next sunday. Cagliari is the strongest home side in the whole Serie A. They could even be fighting for CL, but they pay for an awful away record. Last week Cagliari lost undeservedly at Milano vs Milan. Milan scored in the last minute of injury time (the same thing happened in Milan - Lazio) and Cagliari were very angry about some decisions taken by refree. They were smelling a precious point, but left the pitch with nothing in hand. Next Sunday Cagliari will host the main relegation - candidate Atalanta. The team from Bergamo is slightly improving despite the fact in the January market they have sold some important players. Atalanta won at home vs average sides like Livorno and Bologna, but at Cagliari they will have to sweat a lot to get something. For the upcoming match Cagliari will have Budel back after the suspension. Langella is fully fit and should play from the beginning with Esposito and Zola. The young player Sabato will make his debut, taking the place of Agostini (red card for him at Milano). Atalanta have many injury worries: Taibi, Lorenzi, Rustico, Migliaccio, Choutos won't play for sure, while Mingazzini, hitten in the head by the ball during the training is doubtful
