2.20 Southwell A 5f handicap with a few suspiscious characters in the lineup, Bookiesindex Boy is capable but finds absolutely nil under pressure, First In Command hasnt been showing enough to win this, Ace Of Spies is another that has been running consistent but hasnt shaped as if a winner waiting to happen. Sandwith won when last seen in December on only 2nd try on this surface but this is gonna demand more off a 4lb higher mark and doesnt particularly look well treated under that rise and probably not best drawn in stall 2. Also concerned why he has been off the track for nearly 2 months and no great record fresh. Canadian Danehill had been threatening to finally get his head back in front recently including over CD, finally got that win last time out on polytrack but a 6lb higher makes this tougher despite winning off much much higher marks in past but had plenty off chances on similar marks this winter and wouldnt be an obvious one to follow up. Bird Dog won a shocking maiden over CD, and then a handicap off a mark of 50 only a 1lb higher and this drop back to 5f is all in his favour but slow start last time not great and just worry he isnt quite in the same form last few starts and perhaps gone over the top. For me Spic n Span is worth another chance on his favoured surface, showed promise on seasonal reappearance travelling well before clearly blowing up, no obvious excuse on penultimate start around here but didnt get soft lead required, better effort again last time out in a claimer and did well at the weights and if building on that off this sort of mark he could be dangerous especially if he can get a good break on this field, has won off this mark before and promising apprentice of the moment takes off a handy 7lb. 2pt win Spic N Span 5/1 bet365 4.25 Southwell The highlight of the card a class 4 handicap over the mile. Gritstone won back to back handicaps over a little further at Wolverhampton, not beaten far off this mark last time out back there but probably needs a stronger test around here and no previous experience around here. Similar can be said for Call To Reason in my opinion, she made a promise start on this surface last time out over Cd staying on well but could well need further in time on that evidence and looks far too short in the betting. Son Vida won a maiden on debut around here last January not seen till 2 weks ago in a polytrack handicap, no great shakes probably needed the run but just a worry this may come to soon but if all is ok could be dangerous back around here. On The Cusp really is a specialist around here but was well held back here last time out and is 3lb higher again today and now 9lb higher since last win and career best required but is the sort that could bounce back at anytime but this is a stronger race than normal. Pipers Piping is of interest returned here, he is a quirky character that needs everything to slot into the place but was given a great ride over CD earlier in the month, unfortunately she cant ride at the moment due to a ban but another capable apprentice takes over and only 5lb higher for that very impressive win, has since gone close on polytrack again doing very well on the face of it and is now 2lb ahead of the handicapper and if the gaps appear after a clear run round he could be very dangerous. 2pt win Pipers Piping 6/1 bet365
