Goldenjaguar
After the london riots where our shop was trashed and spending 6 weeks refitting it/dealing with insurance loss adjusters etc, ive decided to come out of semi poker retirement and have some live poker time again to relax and enjoy life a bit more. Im going to vegas in february for 10 days. As i havent been for years im looking for some advice on a nice hotel on the strip to book. Any tips would be appreciated thanks :) Jag
Washman
Re: Vegas Trip First time to Vegas this summer for me - stayed at Hilton Grand Vacations (near Stratospehere) for first week, which was ok, but too far from main poker rooms etc. Then moved to Palazzo, which was fantastic :ok Not sure on cost, and not sure how much difference there is between Palazzo and Venetian, but its in good location, will try to post some photos of my room in a minute. morlspin
Re: Vegas Trip IMO .... If you were to book now, I would personally choose the Imperial Palace, its deluxe rooms are nice, there is a small card room and your opposite caesars, bellagio and round the corner from venetian, which are the 3 best card rooms on the strip. There is also NO service charge in here, which saves you around $300 when you arrive. If you were to wait til after xmas, the prices would stay the same as they are now, but you'll have the benefit of waiting for the rooms sales, discount codes and can book whenever you see somethimng excellent. glceud
Re: Vegas Trip Don't think I'd stay in the Imperial again, it's got no decent eating places or shops and there are some times in a 2 week stay you just want to chill in the hotel. Then again I might just have been in the room furthest away from the lift that was furthest away from the exit. Not sure how a casino would react if you asked for the room nearest the exit.:\ Prefered Excalibur which has a couple of decent food places and a shop that sold U.K newspapers. GaF
Re: Vegas Trip I wouldnt discount Priceline. Whilst it can be a bit of a gamble - do your research and you can have a very good idea of the exact hotel(s) you're bidding for (look on betterbidding.com for all the info). In the betterbidding calendar for March 2012 I can see there have been successful bids for condos in Trump International at $85 per night. (compared to £85 per night listed on Expedia). Recent wins (irrespective of date) I can see: Aria $80 per night Venetian $100 per night Mirage $75 per night Palazzo $100 per night Monte Carlo $45 per night

Got my flights on Virgin by using the 100,000 airmiles i won off virgin at two festivals :), basically flights costing me just the tax etc £270 return[/quote'] Before you do, have a look at the Mirage - if it's only a small price difference, then treat yourself to a bit more comfort - and always try the $20 trick (when checking in, put a $20 bill in your passport with your credit card and ask if you can have a "complimentary upgrade". Mrs McG and I have tried this in 6 different hotels, and succeeded each time). If they can't upgrade you, you get your $20 back, so I'm told :ok
