NRL: Week 8 picks

Broncos -3.5 @ 1.94 centrebet Broncos have won 6 straight based on some very good defence, and believe once again, that they can do the job here. While the Bulldogs too have played as well, they lack a playmaker that the Broncos have in Lockyer, and though they rely on the individual brilliance of Barba, the Broncos have shown over the last few weeks that they can smother many good players. Rabbitohs -9.5 @ 2.00 centrebet Sharks come into this game with several key players out, and this weakens their backline quite badly, considering the lack of depth in their side. They have the forwards to be competitive, but if the Rabbitohs shift the ball wide, can see them causing the Sharks plenty of problems with Inglis in particular, able to break their lines. They have beaten the Sharks in their last 3 games, and though they can be inconsistent, if they are to have any chance of finishing in the top 8 at the end of the season, the Sharks are the type of side they have to beat.

Broncos -3.5 @ 1.94 centrebet Rabbitohs -9.5 @ 2.00 centrebet BC, I agree with both your selections, although the 9.5 on Souths may raise a bit of sweat given the team's inconsistency thus far. They are more than capable (on paper). Fortunately, the loss of Burgess is more than offset by the Sharks outs. The Broncos look very solid and I would have confidence they will cover the line. GL

Re: NRL: Week 8 picks Roosters @ 2.03 centrebet Roosters put in a much better performance last week as they lost out to the Dragons, but a repeat of that effort will see them win this game as the Titans were woeful last week against another poor side (the Eels). The Roosters forwards worked very hard last week and only for some poor handling and wrong decision making let them down as they shold have led at half time. They would have addressed and worked on this at training this week, and expect them to be even more fired up, to take out their frustrations on a Titans side that has not looked much this year, and have been lucky in some of their games to actually win them. The Roosters have won 2 of the last 3 meetings and did beat them last year at the GC, so if they play like they did last week, can see them winning this one. Storm -9.5 @ 2.00 centrebet Doubt that the Storm will have two poor games in a row, and last time they lost, they came out fired up and belted the Bulldogs. Not only do the Knights have to face a side that will be much more focused but they have a poor record against Melbourne where they have lost 7 of their last 9 meetings and were smashed 34-4 last year down there. Cowboys -3.5 @ 2.18 centrebet Not much between the two sides as they have both won their last 2 games and are 5-2 for the season, and have shown that their respective defences are very good, and hard to break. But the Cowboys have two very classy players in Bowen and Thurston who have been in great form for them this year and tend to lift when they play in front of their home crowd. The Sea Eagles play well as a team and tend to grind their way to wins, but the Cowboys have shown that they have the steel to play the same way if needed, with that bit of class giving them the edge. Should be a pretty close game, but with the Sea Eagles having lost both of their road games this year, they will find it hard to win in Townsville if these two players get going.

Re: NRL: Week 8 picks Panthers +6.5 @ 1.95 Tab Warriors are coming off a huge win over the Storm, but they do tend to struggle backing up after these big wins and like the Panthers to do something here. They will be upset that their coach has not had his contract renewed and they will be looking to win this one for him. Though they have been pretty poor this year, they can play when things work for them, and they have the size to be pretty aggressive with the Warriors. Like them to keep this pretty close, and they did beat them 40-12 last year in Auckland, so they can get the job done Tigers @ 2.00 Tab Raiders are really struggling at the moment and it is not look like they can do much better under the circumstances as they tend to switch off in their games, and lose control of the game. This is not good news for them as the Tigers halves Marshall and Lui can find the weaknesses in the defence and make sides pay. Not that the Tigers are that much better but they do have the one playmaker, marshall, who can be the difference, and with both sides really trying to find a way to win, marshall is the one player capable of single-handlely able to do so, an believe he will be the difference. The Tigers have won 6 games straight against them, and like them to do it again here. Eels +14.5 @ 1.92 centrebet Dragons are the better side here, and should win, but they looked oput of touch against the Roosters last week, and the Eels may be able to keep this one close, if they can eliminate their mistakes. They scrambled to a win over the Titans which can give them some confidence for this game, and with the Dragons missing their fullback Boyd, it evens it up with the Eels who are without Hayne. The Eels will look to keep this game as much as possible in the forwards and not allow the Dragons to shift it wide where they can expose them, while the Eels will look to chip away at this very good Dragons defence much like the Roosters did last week. Maybe some complacency is coming into their game, and they have smashed the Eels the last two regular season games they have played at Jubilee Oval, so they may be expecting a repeat performance again. Logic says it should happen but there are some doubts about their game based on what they showed last week and the Eels may do enough here to keep this one fairly close
