However, only one favourite has won this race since Monsignor in 2000. Since 1992 all the winners of this race have been aged 5 or 6. Only one 7 year old has won in that time. 12 of the past 17 winners won last time out. All of the past 17 winners finished in the top 3 last time out. 8 of the last 16 winners were trained in Ireland, four of those have come in the past five years.
