Starting Over With Cash Poker I have been attempting to play mainly full ring cash games (10nl) on stars since the end of March and had been loosing 0.9BB/100 hands over about 45k hands, about 8 buy-ins and that was about my EV line. I was multi tabling 12 tables at one stage but was most comfortable with 6 tables (mainly because I like to tile the tables and any more than 6 the tables were too small). On Thursday I was reading on-line about a player grinding his way up from 10nl, when the penny finally dropped – I was playing shit, and not utilising the data that a HUD could give me. Up until Wednesday I only ever looked at VPIP before I played a hand. Something had to change.

So Friday morning I opened up PokerTracker and started to configure my HUD. It now includes the following:

Player Name / #Hands

VPIP / PFR / Total Afq

3Bet PF / Fold to 3Bet PF / 4Bet PF / Fold to 4Bet PF

Cbet Flop / Fold to F Cbet / 3Bet Flop / Fold to F 3Bet

Cbet Turn / Fold to T Cbet

Could someone have a look at this for me and let me know if there is some thing I really should have in there that I don’t have. After using this for a few days I am beginning to think that the last line has limited use at the moment because the player pool is so big it is hard to collect the info for this line, but I will keep it in for now.

I would really appreciate it if someone could explain how to put the Total Afq data in to practical use. Currently all I know is that it is a measure of aggression/passiveness but I am unsure of what range of figures are passive and which is aggressive. Should I also include an Afq for each street in the HUD? I also notice that PT offers an Aggression Factor for the HUD, how does this differ from the Aggression Frequency?

Cheers.

So Friday, I decided start fresh.

I have set up the HUD and have reduced the gap between my VPIP and PFR, dropped to 4 tables so I can get use to utilising the HUD while playing. So I have played 3,220 (small sample I know) at 7.15BB/100 and have clawed back 4.5 of the 8.5 buy-ins I lost over the last few months, all good so far, apart from my all-in EV been below this mark. I know where I got lucky from been well behind, table was breaking up only 4 dealt in, I got pocket 8s on the button standard raise, got re-raised by a very loose aggressive player in the BB, I shoved thinking I was leaving the table and pocket 8’s are great 4-handed but the villain had AA, I turned a set.

I was in this spot earlier PokerStars - $0.10 NL (9 max) - Holdem - 8 players Hand converted by PokerTracker 3: http://www.pokertracker.com SB: $11.06 BB: $10.20 UTG: $9.25 UTG+1: $10.89 MP: $14.69 Hero (MP+1): $10.00 CO: $11.71 BTN: $7.40 SB posts SB $0.05, BB posts BB $0.10 Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero has Kh Kd fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.30, fold, fold, SB raises to $1.00 I had only limited info on this player over about 100 hands had a VPIP of 14 / PFR 12 / 3Bet 5 Fold/Call/Raise?

Re: Starting Over With Cash Poker Played 1,400 hands today on stars, running at 5BB/100 hands, so made back $14, my VPIP and PFR were with in the range i what so i am happy with that, my all-in EV is running below my acutal winnings but still positive. I am a little disappointed because i was up more and lost a hand where i was blinded by my 2 pair and failed to see the straigh possiblilties, what is worse is that i failed when i was in a position to control the pot size and was the one would re-raised a check raise:spank. Over all after adjusting my play i am up $60 over 4,620 hands (6.50BB/100) and $27.50 dollers away from recovering the lose over the previous weeks. Ill post the chart after 5,000 hands I had a few dollers on Party Poker so i also said i may as well but it to some use and played some 1c/2c poker and after 691 hands, it is bloody hard to get a read on anyone so far, the bet sizes hardly ever reflect the hand they have, loads of player coming and going and the table breaking up after maybe 30 min. That said i did make a small bit 61c at a rate of 2.21BB/100 but the chart is very up and down - early days yet. Could i have yere thoughts on how to play short stacks(40BB) at the table. I am seeing 3 types of short shack player so far, the player would plays like he is in the later stages of a tournyment and will push in in happy to be flipping for the pot, the other is the ones that has one button working and will just bluff all-day long and the Only playing AA-JJ player. If they are playing marginal hand i feel that they become pot committed very fast, i am finding it hard to gage the correct bet against them post flop, do you just put them all-in if your standard bet is say 2/3s of their remaining stack, or reduce the bet size and miss out on value & give them the correct price if they are drawing?

Re: Starting Over With Cash Poker Played 1,785 hands today on stars only a 1.21BB/100 so that is an increase to the bankroll of $4.32. my All-in EV is running 1 buy in above , guess that is just balancing thing out over the last few days. Should have finished on more but fecked up and ran my QQ into a set of Kings.

Over all 6,045 hand @ 5.02BB/100 = +$64.34, so that leaves me $23.16 away from recovery.

ps210611.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Over at party poker today player 867 hand was was up over 3 buy ins at one stage but only finished the day up 57c while is a low 1.64BB/100, over all up $1.18 over 1,558 hand.

I have decided not to play the 1c/2c lvl on party while I am playing on stars at the same time just so I can concentrate on one level of play at a time.

Could someone point out how the BB/100 is calculated, I though it was the follows but this can’t be correct, taking the figures from the above chart

(Amount Won x No. of BB in 1$) / (Nr of Hands / 100)

($64.34 x 10) / (6405 / 100)

643.4 / 64.05

= 10.04528 BB/100

Re: Starting Over With Cash Poker So after dropping another buy-in at 10nl on Monday - i have dropped to 2nl for a while. Monday: 218 Hands -$0.25 1st day again at the 1c/2c played 218 play to get a feel for what it was like, not a lot to report 218 hands is not a lot, finished the day -$0.25. Tuesday: 7,148 hand +$0.70 The 1st 1k hands nothing major running about -$0.30 then in the space of 10 hands i am down to -$6, put the head down grinded back upto +$1.75 over the next 1.7K hands. nothing major over the next 600 hands, but the next 2K hands i found myself down -$14 only winning 2 of 9 all-ins and to be fair i was beat in the ones i lost and cruching the 2 i won. But quick as a flash in the last 1.5k hands i and back up to finish the day +$0.70 by winning 9 of 10 big pots, one was 50/50 and i got lucky in another. With the strong finish to the day i was left with the feeling that this was just the dynamic of 2nl poker, lots of ups and downs. Wednesday: 6,735 Hands -$19.95 Started ot the day playing the same way, 1.7K hands into the day and i am up but only a few c. Over the next 300 hands i lose or give up on a few midium size pots and i am -$2 for the day, but over the next 50 hand i took a massive blow dropped from -$2 to -$9 with my All-in EV staying at -$2. After those hands must have effected me because over the next 4.5k hands i dribbled away another $10 with my won $ with showdown line finishing more or less level from the point of the big loss. Not great, finished up the day -$19.95. Thursdays: 5,744 Hands +$13.00 After Wednesday, had to make a few changes to my play, needed to control the pot, only go allin in pre-flop with KK or AA call instead of re-raise, Post flop now that i have a few hunderd hand history on my opponents i can check to an aggressive player and let the bet into the pot for me and either call or raise depending on the situation. Bet into passive players or flod more to a bet or reraise depending on the situation. This worked out well today, i won all the big pots bar 1 at showdown and any medium pot loss was mainly me giving up on pots so there was no big drops on the non-showdown line. Happy with today. Friday: 4,110 Hands +$1.77 Lost the 1st big pot of the day with in the fist 50hands which left me -$1, took me about 1k to get back to level winning a few medium pots at showdown. In the next 1.4K hands i won 1 big pot and a few medium pots to get up to +$4. Then over the last 1.5k hands i lost 4 big pots at showdown and won 4, but it would appear that I gave up on a lot more small pots in the last 1k hands. Must look into these more. Here is a few hands for your comment from Friday.
