Was on the plane home with some of the Betfair staff today and they all agreed that the day went very well. Turns out one of the staff actually won the event! And yes before you ask - I also have been feeling horrendous today - maybe something to do with aldric's keeness to get us all involved on the jaeger bombs twelve at a time! Tournament was amazing value with a $15k prizepool and only 77 runners (with a few sit outs) equatiing to an outstanding $200+ buy in... :loon Found myself sat next to Joe Legge at the tournament and was also on the same table as aldric. Enjoyed the 1st table with lots of banter and found myself up to about 8k at the 1st break (starting stack 4k). During the break was the chance to get involved in a game of deal or no deal courtesy of betfair. My number was pulled out at random to play the game. With top prize being £1000, I decided to use the same strategy that I would on the real thing and no deal all the way to the death and to swap the box at the end to number 7 (my fav number). To cut a long story short, with two boxes remaining I was left with £200 or £750, the offer was £325 and I obviously no dealt and swapped my box. The result can be found in the video in morls' post above :nana. So back to the tournament and I hit a peak stack of around 12k with around 45/50 players remaining. I played a couple of hands badly after that (perhaps the affects of the free bar!) and I went out in 25th just after morls. Aldric was PL's best finisher just missing out on a cash in 12th place (9 cashers) in what was his first live tournament :clap. We then utilised the free bar with glasses of champagne and jaeger bombs and watched the Haye-Harrison fight. I can't compliment Betfair enough for this, it truly was a fantastic day had by all and great fun, so thanks to Betfair & PL for the opportunity. aldric Posted November 15, 2010 Share Posted November 15, 2010 Re: Betfair Masters Poker -15k Gtd Event - FREE SEATS - 13th Nov - Glasgow I am finally feeling back to normal :ok I had a great day out... it started off a bit dodgy as I didn't know anyone until Morls turned up about 5 minutes before the tournament started, so I had a drink or two at the bar to prepare me for my first ever game of 'live' poker. I was sat on the same table with geordiegaz to start with and he managed to get himself a fantastic 'loose' / 'maniac' image... calling before looknig at his cards etc etc. This worked a treat later on when he had trip kings v two pair and doubled up. (it's funny how I seem to remember a lot about earlier on in the night!) I didn't really want to play much early doors and played premium hands only... got a few chips from Joe Legge with AK v Ax and an A on the flop. I went all in after he bet and he folded, showing his A. I then figured I had the Mr Tight image and bluffed Gaz on a flop... although he had nothing either :lol I then got moved a few times and sat with Morls then Andy and rednutt.. unfortuantely not long after I joined them they both went out. I got moved again and was sat with Morls when he went out... (I think I gave them all some bad luck!!). I had a bit of luck doubling up when I had about 5 BB's with Q10 v KJ and I ended up going out in 12th position pushing with 33 when again I had about 5 BB's (although I was so drunk by this stage I have no idea!) the BB called with 1010 and that was game over. Enjoyed watching Gaz playing the Deal no Deal and watching andy shouting accross the room "10%!!! 10%!!!!" "REMEMBER 10%!!". I almost missed my train, but managed to just get on it in time... I actually wish I missed it as there was a bit of an incident on the train.
