Kingmoses - Sorry chap, I'm afraid I've managed to preview a game that's happening in a few weeks. I blame the mrs.
For what it's worth at this late stage, I fancy Notts to win today a decent price with Skybet.
    Apologies again,

Kent host Somerset in the Royal London One Day Cup, needing a win to make a significant jump up the league table. Somerset on the other hand, are yet to lose in the competition, but face their biggest test to date.
The St Lawrence Ground is, like the County Ground, a place where big runs can be scored. And Kent have plenty of batsmen who can do some damage.
In Daniel Bell-Drummond they have a player with serious ability. In fact, the young opener has barely failed in any format this year, and must surely be knocking on England’s door.
They have a host of talented young Englishmen in their top five, including Joe Denly and Sam Northeast, both of whom have been in the runs so far this year. Denly comes into this game on the back of a ton against Glamorgan, where he shared a big stand with fellow centurion, Sam Billings.
Billings’ ton can up in just 50-odd balls and included five sixes. Perhaps the young keeper is beginning to show the potential to become England’s next one day keeper.
In the bowling department, Kent aren’t quite as strong, but they can rely on a mix of canny seam and some spin. Matt Coles is a player who is great to watch, with his all action approach, and since his return, he’s gone great guns for his home county.
They come up against a Somerset side who tied their last game, against Essex, after an astonishing late salvo from opposition keeper, James Foster.
Interestingly, despite having won two out of three, they look weaker than their results suggest, particularly in the batting department.
Johann Myburgh is a strong opener, and has had a decent run of form. However, he isn’t prolific, having averaged under 30 in 103 games. That record includes just a single ton.
Peter Trego is probably their biggest threat. His ball striking is better than anyone’s, and his record is very useful. He has scored plenty of destructive runs in his time, including some rapid centuries.
Jim Allenby has some pedigree, but he is much less consistent than in days of old, and makes less regular runs than he used to. He’s captain of the Somerset one day side, and looks to lead from the front, but these days, it means using a lot more of his canny seam.
Another player whose game has changed over the years is James Hildreth.
At one time he was close to the England set-up, but these days is much more of a four-day player.
With the ball, they have the Overton boys, who are pushing for international honours, but are more expensive in this format than many seamers. Lewis Gregory is steady, while their best bowler is probably Tim Groenewald.

Unfortunately, they look more mediocre than they have in seasons past. Kent are a young side on the up and look more balanced all round. They have the match winners with the bat, the players in form, and a bowling unit that’s solid.

You can back Kent to beat Somerset at evens with Skybet

4pts Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Kings XI Punjab

Seemingly out of nowhere, Sunrisers have become a credible force in this year’s IPL, thanks in no small part to the form of David Warner. But can they maintain the form that’s got them into the mix?

Warner has now registered three 50s in four games, with over 230 runs to his name. He’s been brutal too, regularly scoring at a strike rate of 150+. His opening partner finally got in on the act last time too. Shikhar Dhawan is a class act, and the half century against Gujarat will do his confidence the world of good.

A key to Sunrisers’ relative success has been down to some astute signings. Moises Henriques for one. The experienced Aussie has contributed with bat and ball, and looks solid in all aspects of the game.

Another is Mustafizur Rahman. The young Bangladeshi seamer has proved to be one of the hardest people to get away, and has regularly given his team a great start. On the back of a strong showing in the World Cup, this young man appears to be a real star of the future, and one to consider in the player markers moving forward.

Sunrisers have maintained a very settled side so far, and are unlikely to make changes here, but the same can’t be said of Kings XI Punjab. Having dropped Mitchell Johnson last time in favour of Kyle Abbott, that decision may be reversed here.

With their two big name players, David Miller and Glenn Maxwell, so far having mustered just over 70 runs between them, another win seems a long way off for them.

On paper their side isn’t too bad, but they are rooted to the bottom for a reason. That reason is a lack of proper balance, and some poor auction additions. They lack a quality slow bowler, and have far too many players who only have their day once in a while. Miller and Maxwell fall in to that category. David Warner doesn’t.

Sunrisers, on home turf today, should have this one covered. They have consistency with bat and ball, with a mixture of explosive power and reliable contributors.

You can back Sunrisers to win at 8/11 with Stan James.
As for the player markets, it is difficult to look past the dominance of David Warner. He represents huge value in the overall top batsman stakes, on the back of two big scores against Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians.
Wriddhimam Saha for Kings XI is an odd price in the same market. He scores the winning century in this competition a couple of years ago, and could bat at four. He’s 35/1 with Paddy Power.

Another big price is Glenn Maxwell for Kings XI. He is a player who contributes less than his talent would suggest, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t got a match winning score in him. At 19/1 with Paddy Power, he is long.

This game kind of scares me. Both teams are filled with match winners. Anyone gets going here, and the game can be over very fast.
For me one of the biggest things the Proteas have done wrong in the 1 last 16 months is not give Miller more responsibility.
It is ridiculous to bat a guy like this two far down. Let him be in in the 14th over, instead of the 17th.
You write about the big B , but there is also the bigger M.  Miller, Maxwell, Mitchell (Marsh),  Mandesh (Panday) and Mohit (Sharma).
I think that Mitchell Johnson could be absolutely devastating in the short form of the game.
For years the absolute spearhead of the Aussie attack.

For me Bangelore, Kings XI, Gujarat Lions and Pune are the teams to beat, and this will be very close.

    Kolkata v Delhi
Looking at the line ups Dehli just look so thin in batting. Bowling they look fantastic.
Each team can play a max of 4 overseas players. They could play 3 quality spinners (Narine, Chawla, Hogg)
    Kolkata can choose
Narine, Morne Morkel, Shakib Al Hasan, Chris Lynn, Jason Holder, Andre Russel  seem to have a better balance.

    While Dehli
Chris Morris, Coulter-Nile, Braithwaite, Quinnty de Kock. Imran Tahir  just don't have any batting

I just don't see how Delhi are gonna get big totals on the board. They seem to be skewed towards bowlers.
Regarding Dehli:  I'm not a big JP DUminy fan.
I have never seen him grab a game and win it when it counts. I hope he does'nt play.
He is a tickler and jabber and seems to waste balls in the middle overs (8-16 overs).
Maybe those players are rare, but that is why they get the big bucks.

Interested to see why Dehli paid 1 267 million for Pawan Negi, and if they paid 1.2 bar for Morris he has to play,
    and play a bigger role.

For me the 1.63 for the KKR win looks more than decent.

Don't know what's the matter with me today. Definitely going for the KKR win, but I wrote the post like I

Surrey to win the championship at 10/1 with Ladbrokes
Ian Bell to be top Warwickshire batter at 5/2 BetVictor
Chris Read to be top Notts batsman at 14/1 BetVictor

After the pulsating, edge-of-seat cricket we enjoyed at the T20 World Cup, it’s time to take a step back into the more sedate, and certainly quieter, world of county cricket. First up, we take a look at Division One.

Since Dizzy Gillespie arrived at Yorkshire the good times have returned to Headingley, with back to back titles already in the bag. We’re taking a look at three teams who’ll be intent on stopping them, and predicting a few of the stand-out performers.

    Nottinghamshire

The Trent Bridge side haven’t won since 2010, when they had Andre Adams to fire them to the title with 68 wickets. Since then they have flattered to deceive, with a third place finish last year and a few mid table results along the way.
Much of their success has been built on the performance of their seam attack over the years. These days they are of the younger variety, with Stuart Broad having his time taken up with England duty, and Adams retiring due to injury. Instead they have Harry Gurney, Jake Ball and Brett Hutton. It’s an exciting time for the Outlaws.
In the batting department, they made the call to sign the legendary Zimbabwean opener, Brendon Taylor. Obviously we are big fans of this guy. When he arrived he announced his arrival with a series of high scores, including three tons. Only a poor final few games denied him 1,000 runs. He finished 50 short, but was top runscorer for his side.

Chris Read, Alex Hales and James Taylor contributed a further eight centuries between them, but  with the latter two likely to miss much of the season on England duty, much of the scoring responsibility will fall to Read, Samit Patel and Brendon Taylor. You can back Chris Read to be their top batsman at 14/1 with BetVictor. At that price, he is too good to miss having managed 873 last year. He won’t need too much more than that this time.

    Warwickshire
The winners in 2012 and runners up for the last two seasons will be led for the first time by Ian Bell. The former England man will be desperate to regain his place in the test team, after being prematurely ditched.
They’re a side that won’t lose too many players to international duty, and have a strong batting line-up. They will open with Ian Westwood and Varun Chopra, and both can contribute regularly. Their middle order is steady too, with Laurie Evans beginning to bloom, and Ian Bell, who scored one ton in his three knocks last year.
With the ball, they will welcome back Jeetan Patel as their overseas. The Kiwi returned 58 wickets last year, and brings big game nouse to Edgbaston. He also contributes down the order. Elsewhere, they may have plenty of Chris Woakes time thanks to the form of Steven Finn for England, too.

There seems to be one stand out bet. Ian Bell is a run machine in the domestic game and will do well again this year. You can back Ian Bell to be top Warwickshire batter at 5/2 with BetVictor.

    Surrey
After promotion to the top flight, Surrey have added some experience to their exciting young side. In Kumar Sangakkara, they have a legend of the game, who scored five tons last year. They may miss the triple century contribution of a certain KP, who has ruled himself out of playing.
Elsewhere, their side looks like who’s who of talented players. Their bowling has been boosted with the arrival of Mark Footitt, who is a serious signing and will be rapid at the Oval. Ravi Rampaul is another seasoned performer at the top level and will contribute plenty. Their young pretenders will be looking to step up again this year, especially the Curran brothers.
Tom and Sam are formidable players. Sam especially. While tom took 76 wickets, Sam added 22 in just six games. Alongside the experienced Gareth Batty, this is a well balanced attack.
The batting is formidable. Their line-up reads Roy, Sangakkara, Davies, Foakes and Wilson. That’s serious. They could rival Yorkshire this year. You can back Surrey to be champions at 10/1 with Ladbrokes.

Kent to win Division 2 at 9/1 with Stan James
It has to be said that Division Two of the County Championship looks like being a pretty low quality affair this time around, with a relative lack of pedigree throughout. But, might that mean there’s a value selection?
Sussex went down in somewhat dramatic fashion on the last day of the season (something we tipped at the time), and with Luke Wright signed on a skipper, they will probably be the side to beat. Here, we take a look at the three main contenders for promotion, and pick out some players to watch.
    Sussex
Undoubtedly the side with the most quality in the ranks, with Ed Joyce and Luke Wright among their big names. They have also added an astute signing in Danny Briggs, the one time England hopeful who lost his way at Hampshire. If he can bowl well on the spin friendly deck at Hove, he could cause a stir at this level.
In Ross Taylor they have a solid overseas, but he is noted for discomfort against the moving ball. He’s here until mid-July, and will see plenty of that in that time. What they really need is a bowler. Their attack, granted plagued by injury, isn’t that strong. With Tymal Mills needing to find fitness, they will be left hoping Chris Jordan is omitted from the test squad. Elsewhere they have Steve Magoffin who is always a consistent performer, and the incoming Briggs.
Briggs is available at 9/1 with Coral to be top Sussex bowler. We’ll know quite quickly just how silly that price is.
    Worcestershire
The other relegated side from the top division, Worcestershire are in a state of transition to some degree. They recently lost Alex Gidman to retirement due to injury, Tom Fell, their outstanding batter is recovering from Chemotherapy, and Gareth Andrew has been released. That’s a lot of talent to miss.
Daryl Mitchell will no doubt lead the side well, and score runs himself, but much of their fate will be down to overseas seamer, Matt Henry. The Kiwi could light up the first half of the season, and is the outstanding booking in this division. If he fires on this seam friendly pitch, they may get some points in the bag.
Another source of optimism is Ross Whitely. The batting all rounder is a special talent who is waiting for a breakout season. He’s a hard hitting counter-attacker, who will get lots of game time. Whitely is 6/1 to be top Worcestershire batsman with Coral.
    Kent
Rob Key has passed the captaincy reigns to Sam Northeast, who will add some vibrancy to this Kent side, while all the time being able to call upon the knowledge for one of the club’s legends.
This Kent side has class in abundance, which makes their utter failure in the longer format last season, hard to fathom. In addition to overseas, Tom Latham, who will get plenty of runs, they have the skipper, former skipper, Daniel Bell-Drummond and Joe Denly to pick from. Not to mention Sam Billings.
Bowling may be a slight weakness, but they have a world beater in Matt Coles, Adam Riley and James Tredwell to provide tweak, and six weeks of Kagiso Rabada.
This Kent side has the most class in the division, and in Rob Key they have a potential run machine. After a few lean seasons, the former England man finish last year with over 300 from his last three knocks. You can bet on Key to be top Kent Batsman at 7/1 with Bet365.

Rising Pune Supergiants to win IPL 2016 at 6/1 with Betway
This year is one of change for the Indian Premier League, with two franchises no more due to match fixing irregularities, and two new ones in their place. One constant will be the quality of cricket on show from the world’s best players.
Last year’s winners, the Mumbai Indians will be keen to become the second side to manage back to back titles, but they look much weaker than a few other sides, having bought poorly in the auction stage. Here we look at the main contenders, as well as some of the outstanding outright player bets.
    Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR have won this competition twice in the last five seasons, and remain big contenders here. They started the IPL as a side that were whipping boys, with only Brendon McCullum to pull them along. But now they are a team full of unlikely heroes, who wouldn’t have been rated a few years ago. Players like Andre Russell, last year’s MVP and now a World Cup winner.
Another West Indian, Sunil Narine has now been given the all clear to bowl, which is a big plus. When they won the tournament two years ago, his 24 wickets were a huge factor.
They have great domestic talent too, in skipper Gautam Gambir and Piyush Chawla. The latter will form part of a predominantly spin attack which, remarkably contains Brad Hogg, who could be considered mid-forties.
This is a side with firepower in the form of Chris Lynn, Colin Munro and Yusuf Pathan. It’s a side with guile in the form of Gambir and Uthappa, and with pace threat on top of the spinners (see Morne Morkel). They will be there or there abouts.
A value bet looks to be Chris Lynn to be top tournament batter at 66/1 with Paddy Power.
    Rising Pune Supergiants
A new franchise as a result of the previous year’s goings on, Pune have assembled a very useful squad. One that has everything to challenge. They have the leadership of the one and only MS Dhoni for a start. A two time winner of this competition and a man who has guided his country to the World Cup.
Aside from a whole heap of quality domestic players, including Ashwin, Rahane and Ishant, thay have sublime overseas. Yes there is Proteas skipper, Faf du Plessis, Peter Hanscome and Adam Zampa. But there is also Kevin Pietersen. KP. The forgotten man in England, but revered man everywhere else. If his form in the IPL is anything to go by, he could go big here.
One thing KP offers is an ability to win a match. He’s that guy who has the balls to finish things, or manage a chase, or even just give it a whack in counter-attack. He may be the best player in the competition.
You can back KP to be top batsman at 22/1 with Boylesports.
    Royal Challengers Bangalore
Despite having never won the IPL, this is an exciting side. Coached by Kiwi legend, Daniel Vettori, RCB have a batting order that would terrify even the humble passer-by. Gayle, Kohli, De Villiers, Watson. Ok, maybe not Shane, but the rest are probably the best three T20 players in the world. Do we really need to say more about their chances?
Well, yes. They have bowlers too, and one who stands out is the number one in the world, Samuel Badree, whose leggies guided the Windies through many a power play in the recent World Cup. He is a huge price to do well here.
You can bet on Samuel Badree to be top tournament bowler at 20/1 with Betway.
    The verdict:

These are the three teams most likely to challenge for the title, but it is MS Dhoni who is the man who will lift it. The man is a great captain in this format, and he has the players to act out his plans, whether it’s Steve Smith and KP with the bat, or Ravi Ashwin and Ishant Sharma with the ball. Pune are a big price to win this.

The game is in Nagpur, so it will not be a run fest.
Essentially it will be won by the better bowling unit, as batting gets nullified there.
The WI would like to keep their momentum going. I think they look very good.
They beat SA, and Gayle made 4, so they have match winners.
Mentally, I think they are perfectly suited for the shortest form of the game.  Less rigid, with a relaxed attitude.
    Afganistan no chance here.

BigMozzyDog got a reaction from TheBeast in Twenty20 World Cup 2016
When these two teams were drawn in the same group, everyone assumed that one would be dangerous yet inconsistent, and one would put lesser teams to bed pretty easily. They were right, but I don’t think many people considered South Africa being the team on the back foot.
Faf du Plessis’ men have flattered to deceive so far, with their bowling exposed as a worryingly weak point. And that will only continue until Dale Steyn makes his way back to match-fitness and top form. In Kyle Abbott and David Wiese, they have two seamers who are eminently hittable by the modern player. Wiese in particular relies so much on slower balls and variation, he is easily shaken under pressure. And that’s what the likes of Chris Gayle will put him under.
The big man is back at the top of the order, and he will relish taking on the seamers here. Rabada is rapido and could cause a problem for anyone, and Chris Morris has brilliance in him, but much of South Africa’s bowling performance is reliant on Imran Tahir. The leg spinner rarely under-performs in this format and is far and away the Proteas best bowler.
South Africa undoubtedly have enough batting quality to be a threat to anyone, but the team’s confidence has been shaken by the England debacle, where they couldn’t defend 229, and an early onslaught by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad. In the latter case, you could see the cat put among the pigeons, with summit after summit by the ‘leadership group’.
One thing that the West Indies have is a very clear state of mind. They love this format, play with a smile, and love to entertain. They know what they’re about. And the balance and versatility they have in the side is the envy of everyone else. This is a special unit that has been brought together under the superb leadership of Darren Sammy. A player of average skill, albeit a big ball striker, Sammy has a uniting quality. He isn’t the intense character you find leading most sides, instead he provides the best possible atmosphere for his mates to succeed. I think they will book their place in the semi-finals here today.
The West Indies are available at 11/8 with BetVictor.

4pts Renegades to beat the Thunder at 13/10 with Bet365
Although we tipped the Renegades for the tournament outright, we also highlighted the Thunder at a big price, with their big ticket players and experience throughout. Even with a loss they could make the next phase.
With Finch, Gayle, White, Bravo and Wade as a top five, the Renegades probably have the most powerful hitting in the whole of the competition. A couple of those big players come off and 200 is very much on the cards. However, with Wade and Finch both named in the national squad for the upcoming ODI series against India, there is more responsibility on the shoulders of Tom Cooper to step up and support Gayle and White at the top.
In Nathan Rimmington they have one of the form bowlers in the Big Bash, and Dwayne Bravo is the archetypal one day specialist, using his variations to pick up key wickets. In fact Bravo is probably the most all round performer their is, with his fielding as good as anyone’s.
In recent games, the former Windies ODI captain has shown what he can do with both bat and ball, hitting the ball long, and being the bowler the Renegades rely on to make things happen. If his teammates had been able to catch last time out against the Stars, he may have swung the game their way.
With Hussey potentially struggling for fitness, the Renegades can triumph in this must win against the out of form Thunder.

Good shout on Middx Dog! It certainmy was an exciting game to watch. Warwickshire continued on their upward curve with a convincing win against Glamorgan. Yorkshire lost wickets too often when they were trying to tee off and in the end had to slow the pace down to ensure they got through their 50 overs. And if they hadn't they could well have lost the game. Obviously a lot of fancies in tomorrow's games and hopefully we can get a clean sweep! Looking forward to Wednesday I think it might be a quiet day even though there are quite a few interesting looking games. The reason for this is that 3 of the games are at provincial locations. Taking Glamorgan for an example they are playing on a reclaimed sand bank in the Mumbles where it makes a difference as to whether the tide is in or out at the toss as it affects the amount of swing available when bowling. You can't be betting serious cash on matches like this lol! Yorkshire are playing in Scarborough and Essex are at home to Middx but playing in grounds of a castle! Yes Yorkshire should beat a Somerset side blooding youngsters and Essex should beat Middx but I doubt the prices will be attractive and there is the possibility of a surprise result.

3pts Middlesex to beat Sussex @ 5/4 with Boylesports I like the balance of the Middlesex side, especially the bowling attack. Sussex have been really poor so far in the tournament and with their most dangerous two batsmen opening up, I fancy Harris, Khan and Roland-Jones to put them in real trouble. It's always a good contest between bat and ball at Hove, so it could be the middle-overs that decide this game. If Middlesex can set a strong platform they have the hitters down the order to do some damage. James Franklin certainly falls into that category and he's a big price to be their top batsman @10/1 with Coral. You can read the full preview here: https://goo.gl/B6c49L
