  1. Re: Mid-week Non-League 30th March - 1st April Mills has also gone...and I never quite knew what he was doing there. I have heard some horror stories about the "training" whilst Wilkin and Mills were there and the substitution of Keates on Sunday was a joke. As stated...undoubtedly the team (most of whom start again tonight) will feel flat. I'm not playing as the value has gone but Dover have a chance here, tempered by the fact that Mills is not involved on our side!! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum

  2. Re: Conference/FA Trophy Final 28th-29th March

Like I say above if you lose 2-0 at home to the side who are bottom in the league and play awfully when it was on TV' date=' is it any surprise that people are looking to oppose them?[/quote'] It seems strange to me as it makes it more of a "no bet" game Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum
  3. Re: Conference 20th-21st March Well I never back odds on but, since we went back to 4-3-3, we are playing so much better. Lincoln are poor and we played well midweek, but we are still not converting the chances we create. Defensively we are pretty solid though. If there is an under 2.5 market it would tempt me Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum

  4. Re: Mid Week non-league 9th-11th March

what does the chester fan jr irwin reckon to torquay away? torquays season is over after their trophy semi final defeat and they obviously suffered a hangover Saturday losing to telford, 12-5 chester value?
I certainly think they are. They were poor against us on Saturday (we should have scored a couple more) but Torquay are shocking. I'm relying on the fact that the occasion of the derby may have got to them. However it is a definite play for me simply on the basis of opposing Torquay. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum
  5. Re: Conference and FA Trophy 28th February

Congrats and sure you will be looking forward to another Wembley trip. Hope North Ferriby win though as I have them in my Non-League Paper Fantasy Football and I am doing well in that.
Two tube stops isn't the longest travel gig for me...and one of a number doing the comms etc for the website. I don't see us losing tbf, a number have experience of our last visits and that will help.
  6. Re: Conference and FA Trophy 28th February No time for anything detailed and we are inconsistent, but I will have a bit on us to win at Torquay. I know the home team fortunately had their midweek game called off, but we also rested six. I expect Keates to be back in midfield and he makes us tick. We have kept four clean sheets in last six games and Torquay are even more inconsistent than us. We are available at 2/1 or a shade over Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum

  7. Re: Vanarama Conference September 30th

Despite 5 wins on the bounce' date=' I really can't see us making it 6 on the bounce away to Eastleigh...[/quote'] By all accounts, on our website, Eastleigh were very poor on Saturday. Slow at the back, with a bit of pace you can get at them. Up top, Constable is not played as the target man he should be.
  8. Re: Vanarama Conference 20th/22nd September

Just researching Saturday's games and noticed the danger of taking the stats from the BBC website at face value. In the Barnet v Wrexham game apparently they had 21 shots between them and the only shot on target was Wrexham's goal. It also says there were no corners in the game' date=' yet when you look at the text commentary Barnet had a couple of corners in the 89th minute let alone the rest of the game.[/quote'] The stats are rubbish. We had over half a dozen corners that I can recall. There was certainly more than one shot on target as well. One thing that has become apparent is that, at present, the system the manager has got us playing is more suited to away games. We aren't a price to punt on but I am confident of a win.
  9. Re: Vanarama Conference September 9th/10th In a real rush so no detail here, but Wrexham to win at Bristol is a play for me. We haven't clicked at home but are 100% away from home and take on a team still finding their feet in the conference. We had been ropey at the back but have brought Hunt back on loan to protect what was our weaker flank. In Moult we have a striker in form but others have chipped in, all without our best midfielder. 10. Re: Vanarama Conference August 30th

Very quiet on here compared to last week. Is everyone away?
I agree about Woking being value as our midfield has looked light without Keates and we have now lost Harris for three games...to injury rather than the usual suspension! I am certain they won't finish above us though Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum
  11. Re: Vanarama Conference Premier > Monday August 25th Couple of quick thoughts. Firstly, at the price, Macclesfield are value to win at ours. In decent form and confounding all pre season financial worries, they only sit a point below the home team. Unlike the doom merchants I was confident of us winning at Alfreton on Saturday and it should have been by more. We are a work in progress and I expect us to be challenging at the back end of the season whereas Macclesfield will have fallen away. However, at present the away team should not be 4.5 shots and, although I won't punt on the opposition, they are a tip. Secondly, like Bristol Rovers, Torquay are still finding their feet in the league and Aldershot, who only flirted with relegation last year due to a points deduction, are playing some decent stull this season and should have no problems being a top half side. At the price, and with only a late concession v Eastleigh ruining an unbeaten start, they are also a value bet to come away with three points from the South West

  12. Re: Vanarama Conference 22nd/23rd August

The tissue is produced by mathematical formula' date=' and takes into account form over a period of time, so an impressive/poor start to the season won't be given too much creedance at this stage.[/quote'] That must mean that more credence must be given to last season's form than a team's start to the season then?

I'd take Aldershot at Draw No Bet tonight and concur with Addpea on Alfreton and Eastleigh representing value. I'm tempted by Grimsby, Braintree and Macclesfield but will play safe and omit them.
A serious question here...how, in your tissue, have you got Grimsby as favourites over Gateshead??
  14. Re: Vanarama Conference 22nd/23rd August

Great work Addpea ! Im totally agree with Alfreton , they have a lot to show , and I think, on paper, they are the better side
Then read a different paper! Let's get things into perspective on the Alfreton - Wrexham game. On paper, in the table, on the pitch they are not a better side than Wrexham at the moment. That is not to say that Wrexham are the finished article either (we are missing Keates in midfield without a doubt) but, according to addpea, Alfreton will have improved over the week, having worked on their problems. Apparently that doesn't apply to Wrexham for, if it did, logic would dictate that they would also work on their faults over the same week. What haven't Wrexham been good at so far? Well, the midfield is getting used to a different style of play and, rather than trying to control the game, we are playing more on the break. The defence has been slightly sus under set pieces but, all in all, we deserved the win at Dartford and should have put more past Nuneaton. In between that we lost 3-0 at home to Gateshead, a game in which we had two cleared off the line and also conceded two goals after a sub changed the shape and we were at 6s and 7s. Alfreton do not pose the threat of Gateshead (they haven't scored since the 14th minute of the first game) and have a manager banned from the touchline. They concede goals and we are creating chances (Durrell missed two sitters against Nuneaton). Alfreton may be a big price but, frankly, on what they have shown this season they are about right.
  15. Re: Vanarama Conference 16th/17th August Don't necessarily agree with that, addpea. Against Dartford we had problems at set pieces but could have had more than two. Against The Heed we had two cleared of line and conceded two, within five mins, after a substitution changed our shape. We will have a change of keeper today and, if Keates is back in the midfield will improve. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using PL Forum
