  1. Re: Flat season - Too difficult to profit? Focus on your strengths. If you struggle to make money on the Flat then dont have a bet on it. I have probably got slightly lucky this week as I have done pretty well given I hardly watch any Flat racing. In my view 30-45 mins on a Cheltenham card is nowhere near enough to do it justice although it clearly paid off for you. I would say you would want to be looking to do that on one race to give it justice.

  2. Re: Aiden O'Brien on So You Think To me thats a bit like saying Mark Cavendish isnt one of the best cyclists around as he cant climb mountains. Black Cavier is a pure speedball so she sticks to what she is best at. Plenty of horses have won races over 1m and 1m2f, to me its the same as a sprinter winning over 5f and 6f.

  3. Re: Aiden O'Brien on So You Think That race Black Cavier won over 7f didnt prove anything as they went so slow early on so still hard to know if she would stay 7f and be at her best. In my view its hard to tell how good either horse is as nothing is good enough to get to the bottom of them. They are both clearly superb horses at their respective distances but to me I dont see how you compare different horses over different distances.

  4. Re: Aiden O'Brien on So You Think I think it was a better performance than some are giving it credit for. I think the 2nd and 3rd both have Group 1's in them. Im a little frustrated as I have backed him plenty of times but sided with Carlton House today as he had disappointed enough times but finally O'Brien has got things right with the horse.

  5. Re: England > Antepost > BlueSQ Bet Prem 2012/13 Yes just seen AMS has gone as well. Just seen it tweeted that Pilkington phoned up Buckle and explained it to him, but like you say it sounds like that was after it was all signed. Mansfield must be really splashing the cash if they offered him more money than you. Im still surprised he has gone to another BSP club though and he obviously also thinks he has a better chance of winning the league at Mansfield.

  6. Re: Sunday jumps

No tip this but I have to say I am quite disappointed with the standard of racing at Perth tomorrow in what is their main fixture of the season. Me and Stewart went down 2 years ago and although it wasn't the best of cards by any means then' date=' it was a lot better than today's, even AP hasn't made the journey north for it which he most often than not does.[/quote'] Think your being a bit harsh. I dont think this meeting usually clashes with Worcester and AP is always going to ride their as Jonjo always has runners there. The feature race looks up to scratch as the top weight is a 150 horse and it looks a really competitve race.
  7. Re: Great horses winning the best races, good for racing but not so good for punting.

Punters are told to "come racing" but how many of your average bet punters are going to go steaming into a 1-4 shot? If everyone swerves the races that are not competitive how are they going to generate income' date=' just via the attendance alone? (I suppose that's a different discussion altogether) [/quote'] The thing is people will back them because they dont really know and just want to have a bet. I bet there was quite a few e/w bets on Camelot for the Derby and I have seen some crazy bets at point to points. The other side is that people just back on of the longer priced horses and then dream about the bigger win.
  8. Re: Great horses winning the best races, good for racing but not so good for punting. I think some people see an odds on favourite and either think well its no value at those odds or we must try and get it beat with a bigger price horse who must be value. Camelot deserved to be 4/6 yesterday and he was probably value at those odds. I also doubt you will find too many better 1/3 shots than Frankel was the other week although you obviously have to stake more but even having £100 on to win £30 doesnt seem that bad to me. Some odds on shots are poor value, but just because a horse is odds on doesnt mean he isnt value. Would love to know how many people backed the winner of the Dash yesterday? Much easier to find the winner of a Group 1 in my view.
