  1. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Some cracking calls today Kev. Really firing in those winners now. :ok Glad to have a couple of days off personally, really not been going for me as of yet. Poor night in truth which leaves me on -9.01 with the Thornton outrights settled. Really hoping to end the tournament well though so hopefully Santa brings me a change of fortune over Christmas.

  2. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Wright is playing out of his skin here, sums the tournament up for me so far. The rest of mine are... Terry Jenkins (+1.5 sets) to beat Andy Hamilon- 8/11 BetVictor- (4/10) Over 13.5 180's- 5/6 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Highest Checout Over 130.5- 8/11 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Think this should be a classic as there's nothing between the two. This has 7 sets written all over it meaning it's a bit of a lottery so that's why I'm stick with the handicap on Jenkins rather than the win. Both should be comfortable on throw as they are both heavy scorers and finishing is usually pretty solid on both counts and I'd expect Jenkins to win 3 sets at the worse. Both extremely heavy scorers as well hence the overs on the 180's. Hamilton hit 10 in just 5 sets against Burnett whilst Jenkins can pound the lipstick as well. With the prospect of 7 sets, this 2 should cover that line. Also fancy a decent checkout to go alongside that. Hamilton has shown us over the past year or so just how good he is with the combination finishes and covered this line against Burnett. Jenkins is also more than capable of hitting a decent checkout as well, and providing this turns out to be the game we all want, I'd fancy plenty of maximums with some decent finishes thrown in there. Robert Thornton to beat Phil Taylor- 11/4 BetVictor- (3/10) Robert Thornton 3 Dart Average Over 93.5- 5/6 BetVictor- (4/10) I'm already on the Scot outright but at this price, there's no way I'm not backing him. The price is based on reputation alone which is still bizarre considering Thornton has already beaten Taylor twice on TV this year so he's not going to fear the Power, especially when he's playing as he is right now. Unless Taylor puts on at least 5 points to his average, he is going to be struggling here and he's just lucky that Hendriks didn't push on from taking the first set otherwise Taylor would have been out there. Thornton simply won't allow Taylor back in if he's playing like crap here though as he's playing extremely well himself and will be on a high after that superb victory over Paul Nicholson. Taylor has to score better if he is to have a chance here as the Scot will pepper the treble you would think whilst his finishing remains pretty solid and with this price, I have to see what Thornton does with it tonight. Whatever happens, I expect his average to be above the line set here. He his covered this line in both of his matches this year at Ally Pally and that was even when he was patchy at times against Nicholson. He has also topped this average on both occasions against Taylor, even at the Grand Prix where you have to start on a double. He should be completely up for this tonight and that should lead him to a decent average, hopefully in a win.

  3. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Going into the final session before Christmas then, I'm sitting on +6.31. Still haven't got going really but hopefully tonight can change that. Will do these in 2 posts again so the first match is up in time. Should be a cracker of a session. Michael van Gerwen (-2.5 sets) to beat Peter Wright- 17/20 Sportingbet- (3.5/10) Think van Gerwen has a point to prove here and I think he'll be on fire tonight. Peter Wright has come out and said van Gerwen isn't good enough to win the tournament and he's a brave man to say that in honesty. The Dutchman has had a tremendous year and he comfortably came through his first round match in the end against Paul Lim who played very well. Peter Wright averaged around the 95 mark against Arron Monk and was also impressive but he wasn't under the greatest amount of pressure in that one. Tonight is a completely different game though. Van Gerwen will score much better than Monk did and won't miss as many doubles, so Wright will have to score as well as he can if he is to live with MVG here. I just think with everything Wright has said, van Gerwen will look to put on a bit of a show tonight. He's won the last 4 matches, 3 of which have been this year and now van Gerwen has got his first round match out of the way, I expect him to win with plenty to spare in truth. Andy Hamilton vs Terry Jenkins- Game With Most 180's on Night- 13/8 Bet365- (3.5/10) Don't really understand the price here. We have two of the heaviest scorers in the game in what has the potential to go all the way and be an absolute cracker. Like I've just mentioned, I think van Gerwen will see off Peter Wright comfortably and in any case, van Gerwen isn't the most prolific on the maximum front, a bit like Taylor in the final match really as both cover alot on the 19's. Hamilton does to an extent, but nowhere near as much, whilst Jenkins hits lots of maximums himself. All the talk will be about the final match of the night involving Taylor and Thornton, but this should be the game of the night as it has the potential to go all the way and I think it's a good bet for us to see these two combine for the most 180's tonight.

  4. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Still can't really get going in the tournament yet. Will update the P/L after this session in which I'm taking just the two. Dean Winstanley (-1.5 sets) to beat Vincent van der Voort- 8/11 Boylesports- (6/10) Dean Winstanley Over 6.5 180's- Evens BetVictor- (4/10) Pretty confident Winstanley will come through this one with a bit to spare and I like what I saw from him in beating King. He's obviously an extremely heavy scorer, but his doubling impressed me. Granted he missed a few, but that's a given with Deano but when he needed to hit them he did and that's not always been the case. Van der Voort finally managed to pick up a win on the big stage which should give him confidence, but to be fair, he didn't really get pushed in any way and in actual fact, if Kellett would have hit a few more doubles, it could have been far closer. Both of these guys score well but miss doubles but I think the Brit will come through this one. If Deano gets going, he'll absolutely pepper the lipstick, and as long as his doubles stay solid, he should win this one given the confidence he has at the minute and I don't think he'll drop more than 2 sets at the worse. Also think he'll hit 7 maximums in that time. He hit 10 in his opening game which had 5 sets and I'd expect at least that today which will give him plenty of time to fill his boots. He's an extremely heavy scorer and confidence is flying at the minute so 7 180's shouldn't be too much for Winstanley.

  5. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship And the rest for me. Agreed with Kev on the whole. Simon Whitlock Over 5.5 180's- 5/6 Boylesports- (4/10) I'm already on Whitlock for the outright so no need for me to get involved with handicaps but I do like this line. Whitlock didn't show what he can do scoring wise really in the first round, but we've seen players really start to get going in the second round and I expect the Aussie to do the same. Even when he's in bad form, Whitlock is always likely to hit maximums but he's had a superb year and scored well throughout the tournaments. He should play better than he did in his first round and in that, should come 6 maximums at the least. Adrian Lewis vs Denis Ovens- Under 9.5 180's- 5/6 BetVictor- (4/10) Adrian Lewis Average Under 95.5- 8/11 Boylesports- (4/10) I don't expect Lewis to have any problems here because even at 50%, he'll win here as Ovens doesn't score well enough to trouble Lewis. The world champion usually raises his game when he needs to and that comes against the better players. Ovens won't be good enough to trouble Lewis and that's why I don't expect him to play anywhere near his best tonight. He's had a shocking year by all accounts anyway and his first round win against Gino Vos underlined that and if he was up against a better player, he probably would have lost. I'm expecting him to win but I really don't think he'll average near the 3 figure mark so the unders for me. Also I'm taking the unders on the 180's as unless Lewis goes 180 mad, this line should be too high. Ovens may hit a couple but he's not a massive scorer and given how I expect him to struggle, it's going to be up to Lewis to hit 6 or so to cover this line and with the way he's playing at the minute, I'm not so sure he will do that. I do only expect 4 sets really, 5 at the very most and in that time, I don't think we'll see anymore than 9 maximums.

  6. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Taking a fair few tonight and will do them across 2 posts so I get the first match up in time. Scott Rand (+1.5 sets) to beat Wes Newton- 4/5 Boylesports (4/10) Wes Newton 3 Dart Average Under 96.5- 4/5 BetVictor- (5/10) Highest Checkout Over 130- 17/20 Sportingbet- (2/10) I'm not quite as brave as the others in taking Rand for the outright win given the amount of games we've seen go to sudden death over the past couple of days but I agree he is overpriced here and I expect him to go with Newton all the way if not beat him. Rand is extremely confident and fears nobody and you can see just how confident he is and how much he loves being on that stage. He was superb in beating Kim Huybrechts and you can't really fault anything about his game against the Belgian. Wes Newton despite winning more comfortably than Rand scorewise, he only averaged around the 87 mark and he didn't score overly well and he'll have to fix that tonight if he is to win this one. Rand just looked the far more impressive in the first round and he won't fear Newton here given he has beaten him in the previous 2 matches they've played and I fancy him to win at least 3 sets here, if not the match. The average line for Newton looks too high for my liking as well. He averaged just 86.90 in the first round and although he'll definitely up that tonight, to up it a full 10 points is a tough ask. In fact in the second half of the year, his average has dropped a little bit, and he only covered this line once at the Grand Slam recently and didn't cover it in the Players Championship either. He has little periods during matches where he doesn't score particularly well whilst he is missing a few doubles at the minute which lowers the average automatically and all things considered, I don't think he'll average any better than the 95 mark tonight. Also having a little play on the checkout market. It's set a little low than other places have it and I see no reason why the two can't cover it. Neither player is bad with the combination finishes and given how I expect this to be a close affair, there should be chance a plenty for at least one decent checkout. Both are generally confident players and finishing is usually pretty solid for both so I'll back there to be a decent finish in this one.

  7. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Few others for me as well then. Robert Thornton (-1.5 sets) to beat Paul Nicholson- Evens Bet365- (4/10) Robert Thornton (Most 180's) vs Paul Nicholson- 4/6 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Kev has covered both of these so I've not got much to add. I'm already on Thornton outright so there's no real need for me to get involved here but I can't ignore these prices really. Thornton has had the best year of his life and he looked superb in the first round, averaging a shade under the 3 figure mark. The concern with him has always been his finishing as his scoring is extremely heavy but he seems to have sorted his doubles out now and that makes him an extremely dangerous customer. Nicholson beat Stompe in the first round which doesn't really turn any heads tbh and unless he scores far better and cuts out the missed doubles which he is prone to, I don't see him keeping up with Thornton really and I don't expect him to concede more than 2 sets in winning this one. The price isn't the most attractive for the Thorn to hit the most 180's but it's a battle I think he'll win and the price is just about good enough for me to get involved. Thornton is one of the heaviest scorers in the game whilst Nicholson doesn't hit an awful hot. He didn't manage any in the first round whereas Thornton hit 4 and I expect him to hit more again tonight. Phil Taylor vs Jerry Hendriks- Under 7.5 180's- 11/10 Boylesports- (3/10) You can get a slightly higher line but I like this price on this line. Taylor was really poor in the first round given his high standards and I expect him to be a lot better tonight, and you feel he needs to be really. The thing is with the Power these days, when he's not playing well he doesn't hit many 180's, and even when he's on fire, he doesn't hit tons either. Taylor covers a lot of the time meaning he doesn't go for the 180 sometimes even whe 2 are in the lipstick. I don't expect us to see anymore than 5 sets here maximum, and I actually think Taylor will win handsomely so I'm not sure how much time these two will get to actually cover this line so I'm happy to take the unders.

  8. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Cracking shouts this afternoon guys and at last it looks as though the tournament has started to get going with that Anderson-Bowles match a cracker. Onto tonight then and let's hope for an equally good session as this afternoon. Will do these in 2 posts so I get the first match up in time. Terry Jenkins (-1.5 sets) to beat John Part- 6/5 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Terry Jenkins (-2.5 180's) to beat John Part- Evens Blue Square- (3/10) There were a few concerns over Jenkins coming into his first round match with Steve Brown but he was always in control of that match and his scoring was extremely impressive as usual. The missed doubles that have crept into his game are a slight worry, but the thing is he will be outscoring Part for the majority so if he should have plenty of chances to finish the leg off. Part's not actually in bad form to be fair to him but his scoring ability really does worry me when up against Jenkins who can score as well as anyone on his day so he'll have to rely on the Bull missing his chances and blowing it. I don't think he'll do that though from what I saw of him in the first round and I think he'll win this 4-2 at the very worst. Also having one final stab at this 180 handicap market which frankly, has been a disaster for me so far. I'm backing the Bull to outscore Part by 3 on this front which may seem like a big difference, but Part really doesn't hit maximums very often whereas Jenkins does. In the first round, Jenkins hit 4 whilst Part hit 1 which shows the scoring difference. In fact, when these two met in Germany earlier in the year, Jenkins hit 6 maximums whilst Part didn't hit a single one and I just think Jenkins is good value to score a fair few more 180's than Part tonight.

  9. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Been a tough tournament to call so far and I'm currently sitting on +6.56 with the King outrights settled. Hopefully the second round is a little more favourable. Andy Hamilton vs Richie Burnett- Over 10.5 180's- 11/10 BetVictor- (4/10) Same reasoning as above. Couple of heavy scorers and if they get going, they should cover this comfortably. Dave Chisnall (-2.5 sets) to beat Daryl Gurney- 5/6 Ladbrokes- (5/10) Chisnall (-2.5 180's) to beat Daryl Gurney- 4/6 Blue Square- (4/10) Dave Chisnall Over 6.5 180's- 5/6 Boylesports- (3/10) Fancy Chisnall quite confidently to come through this one in truth. The players games are actually pretty similar but Chisnall is better in all departments. Both score heavily and struggle with their doubles at times but Chisnall is far more experienced on the big stage and I expect him to come through comfortably and dominate for the majority. The thing is although both miss doubles, Gurney is at times diabolical on them and never looks likely and given Chisnall can score as well as him, he simply can't afford to do that. Chisnall played well in the first round and his scoring was extremely impressive. Gurney although doing well to make the second round, is extremely lucky that Andy Smith wasn't really at the races as both guys missed a shed load of doubles in that one. Dave Chisnall can beat anyone on his day, and like I said, he is better than Gurney in all departments really. If he gets the first set under his belt, I fancy him to come through this without too much fuss. Chizzy hit 5 180's in his opening game in just 3 sets which shows how well he's been playing, therefore with the prospect of an additional set at the least, I'd be surprised if he didn't add an extra couple onto that tally from the first round, and if he does that, he should cover the handicap as well.

  10. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Just taken this one and will post the others up in a minute as I won't have time in the morning. Andy Hamilton vs Richie Burnett- Game With Most 180's in Afternoon Session- 5/2 BetVictor (3/10) No way this price is right and I expect it to drop significantly by morning. There's only 3 matches in the sessions now instead of the usual 4 and the other matches are Gurney-Chisnall and Bowles-Anderson. Now although Chisnall and Anderson hit plenty of 180's, Chizzy should beat Gurney pretty comfortably which I'll deal with in due course meaning there won't be enough time for both guys to rack up tons and tons therefore it's unlucky that we'll see the most maximums coming in that one. That leaves us with the Anderson-Bowles match, and this one. Now I know Bowles managed 5 maximums in his first round match against Jamie Caven, but I'd be a tad surprised if he hits that figure again, especially considering he's up against a much stronger opponent. Anderson will obviously hit a fair share but if the Scot gets going, the pressure will be on Bowles to respond and I don't know how well he'll cope with that. The reason why I fancy the opening game of the session is because we have two of the heaviest scorers in the game and both are extremely experienced. The pair hit 4 180's each in their opening games and that came when Hamilton wasn't playing especially well and the crowd were on Burnett's back. Both should be a little more relaxed tomorrow and that should mean we'll see plenty of maximums. The games length will come down to the Welshman's finishing, but I'd expect 5 sets at the very least, if not 6 depending on how well Burnett plays and given the ridiculous price that is on offer here, I'm more than happy to jump on board.

  11. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship 3 more for me tonight. Vincent van der Voort vs Stuart Kellett- Over 5.5 180's- Evens Coral- (4/10) Van der Voort (-1.5 180's) to beat Stuart Kellett- 13/8 Blue Square- (3/10) Think the 180's line for this game is a little low to be honest. We all know what the Dutchman can do and we've seen over the past couple of years what he's capable of on this stage. He managed 11 maximums in his opening game last year against Mark Hylton, and 4 the year before that in just 3 sets so there's every chance he could go close to covering this line on his own. Kellett can chip away at the line as well and given how I expect at least 4 sets, I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least 6 180's here. Also just given van der Voort's history in the first round here, feel the price is worth having a punt on for him to hit at least 2 maximums more than his opponent. These 2 actually met eachother a few months back in Germany where van der Voort managed 5 maximums to Kellett's 2 so the price holds a bit of value for me. Michael van Gerwen Under 4.5 180's- 8/11 BetVictor- (4/10) Don't see this price lasting and it's a tad higher than other places have it. I actually think Lim might do okay later on. Not winning but I think he'll do himself justice and his slow style won't suit van Gerwen a great deal. The Dutchman usually likes to get on with things and even when he is allowed to do that, he doesn't hit tons and tons of maximums. He actually covers on the 19's a lot if you watch him, hitting a fair number of 177's. We've seen the likes of Taylor and Lewis just do what they've needed to, and van Gerwen could be a similar case tonight. Even if he plays exceptionally well and hammers Lim, 5 180's in a short space of time is a pretty tough ask, even for the heaviest of scorers so happy to side with the unders here.

  12. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Disappointing few nights for me so looking to put that right tonight. Will do the P/L after tonight's games. Kim Huybrechts vs Scott Rand- Highest Checkout Over 120.5- 5/6 Bet365- (3/10) I know there will be a question over Huybrechts tonight given the news of his father passing away so there's an argument that he won't be at the races tonight which puts me off the handicap. The thing is with this checkout bet, he could be playing really badly and still hit a decent finish from nowhere. We've seen him hit big finishes on a regular basis for a while now, so whatever way he's playing, he could still nail this finish. Scott Rand is certainly no mug either and he should be really up for the game tonight when he considers what's happened to Huybrechts so a decent finish definitely isn't out of his range either so I'm happy to back the overs here.

  13. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Final 2 for me. Jamie Lewis (1.5 legs) to beat Lourence Ilagan- 11/10 Blue Square- (3/10) This could be seen as a pretty risky bet in truth as we've seen a lot of these short prelim matches be won with the flick of a coin but tonight I fancy Lewis to win this no worse than 4-2. He's played a sh*t load of darts this year both in youth tournaments and on the floor on the main tour and in that time he's already beaten the likes of Wayne Jones, James Richardson and Colin Osborne which shows the potential he has. What I like about the youngster here is that he is used to these short first to 4 format matches having played so many youth events so the format should suit him down to a tee. Lourence Ilagan used to play on the BDO tour a few years back now but unless I'm mistaken, he's not played a great deal of competitive darts since 2010 and only won 1 match to qualify for Ally Pally. I just can't help but feel he might be a little under prepared for this match and the occasion might get to him a touch. I expect Lewis to be a tad nervous as well but given he knows the format, I think he'll settle down the better of the two and come out with a comfortable(ish) win tonight before meeting Colin Osborne in the final game of the night. Wes Newton (-1.5 180's) to beat Johnny Haines- 8/11 Blue Square- (4/10) Not confident enough to back Newton with any match handicaps but surprised to see this sort of handicap so low. He's often a little slow out of the traps at Ally Pally and he's yet to average above 90 in any first round match at Ally Pally which is surprising. I don't expect him to have any great problems in winning this one but I'm still not confident with the match handicap. I do expect him however to hit a few maximums tonight regardless to how he is playing and I struggle to see how he won't hit at least 2 more than Haines. Newton hit at least 2 in every one of his Grand Slam matches and managed 5 on 2 occasions which shows how well he can score when he gets going. Johnny Haines had that really good showing over in Holland where he beat Barney but he's not one to pepper the lipstick and hit too many maximums whilst Newton is capable of a fair few and I back him to hit at least 2 more than Haines tonight.

  14. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship 3 for me tonight as I'm stuck in the library doing my essay. Will put this one up and do the other couple in another post. Mervyn King vs Dean Winstanley- Game with Most 180's of Night- Evens Bet365- (2.5/10) Not the best price in this sort of market but when you look at what this match has the potential to do, it's understandable why. This should be the game of the first round if all goes to plan and whilst I expect King to nudge it, it could easily go the distance. Here we have two guys who score extremely heavily and the 180 count could easily go into double figures even if it doesn't have a 5th set. If we look at the other games, you'd maybe say Newton could pose a threat to this bet but he'll have to go 180 mad you feel to even come close to getting his game up to this level in terms of maximums and I'd be pretty surprised if this wasn't a 180 fest tbh.

  15. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship And this one. Already been covered above. Ian White to beat Mark Webster- 10/11 Bet365- (4/10) Can't really add a great deal to what's been said. Webster's form has been pretty rotten for a while now and his finishing in particular has let him down massively which has left him short of confidence. The problem is that Ian White is the complete opposite. He's been playing well all year and Webster can't afford to keep missing doubles as White should be with him all the way given his scoring capabilities. White has beaten the likes of Whitlock and Dolan in recent times and if he continues playing the way he has done all year, he should come through this one.

  16. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Just the 3 for me tonight. These 2... Peter Wright (Most 180's) vs Aaron Monk- 5/6 Blue Square- (4/10) Peter Wright Most 180's on Night- 4/1 Bet365- (2/10) Not backing either guy to win tonight but I feel Wright has the advantage in the 180 stakes. Snakebite is a really heavy scorer on his day and he showed that at the Players Championship where he hit 5 against Kim Huybechts in just 16 legs. Even last year where he lost 3-1 to Jelle Klaasen, he hit 4 in 4 sets which is a decent showing and he's generally pretty good around the lipstick. Monk is still improving all the time and performed well at the Grand Slam but he's not a prolific 180 scorer, not to Wright's extent anyway. He only managed to hit more than 1 in one game and even then it was only 3 in 15 legs which shows the difference between him and Wright so I'd fancy Wright to win the 180 battle. Given how I expect this to be a pretty decent game, I wouldn't have Wright as a 4/1 shot to hit the most 180's. Obviously Ian White is the big threat but I have a feeling this game might last a little longer than that one and that should give Wright enough time to give himself a chance at this price.

  17. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Disappointing afternoon but hopefully tonight will make up for that. Will do the P/L after the games but taking just a few tonight... Dave Chisnall vs Shane Tichowitsch- Over 5.5 180's- 8/11 Boylesports- (3.5/10) Kev has mentioned this one and whenever Chizzy plays, this line is usually on the low side. Misses far too many doubles but peppers the red bit usually and even if he dominates this game, he could go close to hitting 6 on his own. I don't expect him to have it all his own way though considering his double issues so you'd fancy Tichowitsch to win a few legs and maybe put in a couple of maximums himself. Chizzy should hit a fair number though and the line should be covered here I fancy. Joe Cullen (Most 180's) vs John Part- Evens BetVictor- (3/10) Was close to backing the Brit for the win but I'm happier to back him on the 180's front. Cullen is a very heavy scorer and is one of the new breed of youngsters who really fancies himself against anyone he comes up again. He's not had a spectacular year but he showed at the Matchplay that he can hit the maximums as he managed 4 in 14 legs against Justin Pipe. John Part hasn't been in bad form of late hence why I'm not going to go against him winning this one but he's never been a major 180 scorer and often you'll see him covering and going for the 19's. A good example of that came in the Grand Slam where he failed to hit more than 1 maximum in any of his games and when you consider his game with Andy Hamilton lasted 28 legs it shows that the Canadian doesn't hit a great deal of maximums. Cullen does however and at Even odds, he looks decent value in this market. Phil Taylor vs Michael Mansell- Highest Checkout Under 119.5- 5/6 Bet365- (3/10) Not a massive fan of taking the unders on this market but feel the line is a bit too high. I, like most people don't expect Taylor to be dropping many legs at all in this one. Maybe 2 or 3 if you're being generous but that's it really which means there's less time for this line to be covered. Usually when Taylor is firing, he won't be leaving a score of above 110 after 12 darts meaning his checkouts are usually below this line as he sets himself up for 2 darters. Generally his big finishes come in the big matches where he's really being tested. I don't expect that tonight and I'd be pretty surprised in truth if we saw a finish higher than this line. John Part vs Joe Cullen- Match with Highest Checkout of Night- 2/1 Bet365- (2/10) Had success with this market last night and I feel this match should be the game of the night and should be the closest. It's hard to see Taylor or Chisnall struggling too much and I'd be surprised if that game won this little market. In John Part though, you have one of the most clinical finishers in the game and often do we see him take out a number of big shots in games. He's no stranger to hitting those 160+ checkouts on the bull and it wouldn't surprise me if he did something like that tonight. We also have Joe Cullen who is a bright talent coming through who is equally adept to hitting the big finishes, and given I expect this to be the closest game of the night, perhaps with the Ovens game as well, I think 2/1 is a decent price on the highest checkout of the night coming in this one.

  18. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Just 2 others for me this afternoon. Richie Burnett (Most 180's) vs James Hubbard- Evens Coral- (5/10) Should be a good one to watch this with both players pretty fluent and both score well. I do feel the Welshman will come through but James Hubbard has shown what he can do on this stage in beating Michael van Gerwen in the final of the youth tournament last year and if Burnett misses too many doubles Hubbard will fancy his chances. One thing you get with the Prince of Wales is maximums though, and usually lots of them. Since coming back into form over the past couple of years, he's scored really heavily and his opener against Mark Webster last year was one of the games of the tournament. He's scored well all year really and regardless of the result, I fancy him to hit more 180's here. Terry Jenkins vs Steve Brown- Over 6.5 180's- 4/5 Bet365- (4/10) This line looks a little low to me and Jenkins could go close to covering the line by himself in truth. He'll have a bit of pressure on his shoulders given the amount of money he's defending here and could slip down the ranking massively if he loses early on this year. He does score extremely well still and can really pepper the lipstick when he gets going so he should hit a fair share of maximums himself. Brown should be able to chip away at the line as well. He's played a fair bit on stage now and won't be fazed by the big stage so I fancy us to see at least 7 maximums in this one by the two.

  19. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Really good opening night for me personally with Painter topping it off with that 160 finish. Will cover the first match so I get it written in time before moving onto the others. 2 in the first game though... Wayne Jones (-1.5 sets) to beat Jerry Hendriks- 17/20 Boylesports- (3/10) Wayne Jones (Most 180's) vs Jerry Hendriks- Evens BetVictor- (3/10) Going to side with the Wanderer here despite his inconsistent and on the whole, rather poor year. He's done very little in truth apart from making the semi final at the Dutch Masters where he beat Taylor and Painter en route but he has fond memories of this competition given he was a semi finalist here before. Jerry Hendriks is in a bit of a hole with his form right now and the truth of the matter is he's only won 1 match since the end of September which tells its own story really. He's lost to some distinctly average players since then, most of whom are a level or two beneath Jones. The man from Wolves is no world beater but you'd expect him to average around the low 90's which should be enough to get the job done and cover the handicap. Also like him to hit the most 180's given the price and if you remember last year, he come out all cylinders firing in the first couple of rounds. He hit 8 maximums in 4 sets in his opener last year, before adding another 4 in his match after which is extremely impressive. He's not really in that kind of form but he is fairly consistent around the 60 bed when he gets his eye in, and given how I expect him to dominate, I reckon he's a good price to outscore Hendriks on the 180 front.

  20. Re: 2013 PDC World Darts Championship And these. Very impressed by the Hong Kong fellow there. Very good performance. Be interesting to see how he fares later again Painter. Gino Vos (+2.5 sets) to beat Adrian Lewis- 5/4 Coral- (3/10) Over 5.5 180's- 8/11 Boylesports- (4/10) I've thought long and hard about this one and I have decided to bite the bullet. Not siding with the rest though and I'm actually backing the youngster to win a few legs in this one and with the odds against, I'll back him to take a set. The thing is, Lewis has had a shocking year and admitted it. Now there's a chance he could come out firing on all cylinders and blow Vos off the stage but from what I've seen of him recently, there's no way I'm backing him to do that. He was extremely slow getting out of the traps 12 months ago where he very nearly lost to Nigel Heydon in the first round. Gino Vos is a talented kid, no world beater but he's beaten some decent players this year. With Lewis playing the way he has done, unless he improves I fancy Vos to hold his own a bit and take at least a set from this one. One thing I expect us to see is 180's though and a few of them. Lewis could go and cover this line on his own to be honest if he gets going and even if he's not at his best, you'd expect him to still hit a few. Vos should be able to hit a couple of his own as well but with Lewis being as prolific as he is, I fancy us to see at least 6 maximums in this one.
