  1. Re: Cricket: Friends Life t20 Funnily enough the 3 I was looking at were the Surrey most 6's, the boundary line and Surrey highest first 6 overs but I'm leaving them all as something is holding me back. Am heavily tempted with the total boundaries mentioned by gettingfatter. GL to everyone tonight.

  2. Re: Cricket: Friends Life t20 Yeah who'd have thought one six would be enough to bring the bet in. Tonight was almost identical to last night's match and without Khan to bowl at the death they would be a distinctly average side who lack one quality batsman which all the other sides possess. Anyway Lancs had a good powerplay before stumbling, which with the most 6's, cancelled out the loss for the 1st Warwickshire wicket which ironically was the first time they covered the line all season giving me a small profit of +2.15 for the night.

  3. Re: Cricket: Friends Life t20 3 for me in the TV game in a match I expect Lancashire to win comfortably and secure their place in the last 8. Lancashire Highest 6 Over Score- 4/5 Sportingbet- (5/10) Price is a tad higher than most bookies so I'm happy to back Moore, Smith and Croft to get their side of to a good start when indeed they do bat. They have all been amongst the runs in the past few matches up at Old Trafford and have hit them in good time as well whereas teams who have travelled up to Manchester have struggled to adjust to the conditions early on. Also much prefer the strong Lancs seamers up top to that of Warwickshire, with Khan, Maharoof and Mahmood bowling in the early overs, and as we saw yesterday, not easy to get away and I see this to be the case tonight. Warwickshire have the likes of Carter to bowl early on and he can certainly go for a few with a ton of loose deliveries. Just with the extra bowling quality and the fact they know how to play these conditions, I'll back the home side to be on top come the end of the first 6. Warwickshire Fall of First Wicket Under 22.5 Runs- 5/6 Coral- (5/10) Same bet I took on yesterday with Northants and I'm confident again today that Lancs can manage an early break through. Astonishingly enough, the Bears have never got to 23 runs in any of their T20 matches this season without losing a wicket. That amazed me when I looked through their games and it won't be easy at all to break that duck today with the likes of Khan in particular and Maharoof. We saw Khan bowl his yorkers very well at the death yesterday, but up top, he was bowling quickly and not allowing the batsman any time or room to play the ball. This means that, like with O'Brien yesterday, the batsman have to force the ball more and against this guy, is a hugely difficult task. Maharoof is no mug with the ball either, far from it and he should get some movement with the new ball as well. Presuming the Bears won't change their opening two, so that will mean an out of form Chopra who hasn't got into double figures in the past two matches, and the explosive Carter who is there as a pinch hitter and will look to use power rather than style to hit his runs so take your pick over who could fall early on, both wouldn't suprise me but regardless, I see an early wicket for Khan or Maharoof here. Lancashire Most 6's- 21/20 Bet365- (3/10) Kev has taken the best price I have seen available but I don't have an account with them so I'll still take the odds against on Lancashire who haven't struggled to clear the ropes at Old Trafford recently. Granted this bet didn't come through yesterday but I'm happy to back it again seeing as though they have hit 13 6's in the past 3 matches on their home ground and their bowlers are not easy to tonk by any batsman in the domestic game. The seamers should keep it tight, and then the likes of Parry and Keedy with their spin in the middle overs are difficult to get away usually but batting wise, Moore, Smith and Croft, as well as Brown, Mahmood and Maharoof can chip in with some big hitting to bring this one through.

  4. Re: Cricket: Friends Life t20 Tiny loss of -0.61 tonight which could have been so much better if Maharoof would have got hold of his shot down to long off which got him out. Would have led to Lancs winning the sixes contest and also him top scoring. As it was though, only a place for him in the top 3, and no sixes in the entire match. Unders was always the right shout so well done to everyone on that bet. As expected a couple of early wickets in the Northants innings giving me a minimal loss but could have been a great deal better.

  5. Re: Cricket: Friends Life t20 Been off for a while due to various job reasons and uni stuff but taking a few in the tv game tonight in what's been a horrid competition personally for me. Lancashire most sixes- 8/11 Coral- (5/10) I do fancy Lancs to win tonight and also outscore their opponents tonight in terms of maximums with the big hitters they do have in their side. They are in good form of late, as they try and reach the last 8 of the competition. They've won their last 3, with easy wins over Notts and Derbyshire, which followed an impressive win over Durham. They have hit a combined total of 13 sixes in those 3 matches, winning the sixes battle in each game, which against the likes of Durham and Notts with their batting talent, is no easy feat. Northants have only hit 5 sixes in their past 4 matches, and couldn't muster a single maximum up at Grace Road where Will Jefferson managed 5 by himself alone. Of course the likes of Botha, Hall, White and more predominantly O'Brien are dangerous threats to the bet but as mentioned, they haven't managed to clear the boundaries consistently in games recently on easier batting pitches than Northampton, so I don't see them hitting too many today on a difficult batting pitch as we've seen this year. This with the fact that the Lancashire bowling attack is one of the strongest around at the minute, with Mahmood, Maharoof and the promising Junaid Khan bowling with the new ball, then Keedy and Parry in the middle overs, and not forgetting Glen Chapple who is wily enough to keep it tight. The Steelback batsman won't find it easy at all to get the ball away from that lineup so I'm backing the likes of Croft, Smith, Moore, Maharoof and co to hit a few themselves against a weaker Northants bowling attack and win the sixes battle for Lancs which I think they will do. Northants Fall of 1st Wicket Under 22.5 Runs- 5/6 Coral- (4/10) Ladbrokes have the line a couple of runs lower than this so I'm happy to take the 22.5 line on. As I spoke about in the sixes bet, Mahmood and Maharoof will open up for Lancs who are both quick and will swing the ball about, not to mention their variety of balls as well which will keep the likes of White and Shafayat thinking early on as they try and make the most of the powerplay. We've seen on the sky cameras already this year how difficult it is to get the ball away on this pitch and it does help the bowlers up top quite significantly in which I expect Mahmood and Maharoof to get some early success on. With the Northants oponers, I expect it to be White and Shafayat, although they can mix it up a bit but if it indeed is this pairing, there is a good chance of an early breakthrough. Shafayat has 2 ducks in his previous 3 T20 innings, whilst White will try and power his way through the early overs so with the quality of the Lancashire opening bowlers, I'll back them to deliver an early wicket or two. Farveez Maharoof Top Lancashire Batsman- 10/1 Coral- (1/10 E/W)- 1/5, 1,2,3 Don't often do the each way value option of the top batsman like I know Kev does but today I will and it involves the overseas man here who I feel is overpriced. He is almost certain to bat at 5, like he has done for the entire competition so every chance he wil have a decent amount of time at the crease on this difficult Northampton pitch. He has already topscore for Lancs a couple of weeks back against Durham and in his last innings he carried his bat with a run a ball 11. He hasn't been required in the last couple of matches due to easy wins for Lancashire but is certainly no mug at the crease, with first class centuries, and international fifties to his name, so for an international cricketer batting at 5, I'll favour him to hit some runs and provide an each way return in the Lancs innings.

  6. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Didn't actually think i would be taking much today but having 4 in the end. Heavily considered taking the Gasquet handicap as well but the line is a game too high for my liking although he may well win comfortably. Still have the Monfils outright running, so effectively I'm on him to win today at 11/10 to beat Kubot. But having 4 others as well. Juan Martin Del Porto vs Gilles Simon- Del Porto -5.5 handicap- 4/5 Ladbrokes- (5/10) Andy Murray vs Ivan Ljubicic- Murray -6.5 handicap- 11/10 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Feliciano Lopez vs Andy Roddick- Roddick -4.5 handicap- Evens Bet365- (4/10) Alex Bogomolov vs Tomas Berdych- Under 30.5 games- Evens Bet365- (4/10) First off I'm backing Juan Martin to cover the handicap for the second round in a row after doing it with ease against Rochus. Watched most of the match excluding the final set, and Del Porto was on fire with his groundstrokes from the second set onwards. Rocus found it difficult to win a point, let alone a game on or off serve against Del Porto. He only really lost the first set because of the conditions. Was fairly late that evening, bit of moisture on the court and the light fading. When they played in decent sunshine, Del Porto looked extremely impressive for a guy who struggles on grass. Simon isn't bad on the grass but if Del Porto produces the kind of shots he did against Rochus, the Frenchman will struggle. He hasn't eased past Roger-Vasselin or Sela in his first couple of matches, and Del Porto will be on a high from yesterday and be a couple of levels above Simon's previous opponents. Both previous meetings between these two have gone the distance, but their last match in the US open when Del Porto won, he covered the handicap and with Simon, if things go against him, he does have a tendancy to lose focus and almost give up sets in matches, so I'm having Del Porto on the handicap here. I may be alone in this and I must be crazy to back Andy in any of his matches but I do fancy him to shine today and win with a bit to spare. At Queen's he had some problems given to him in his first few matches, and then when he was expected to face his toughest opponent yet in Roddick, he absolutely blew the American off court. I'm not saying he will blow Ljubicic off the court and bagel him in three sets, but I do think he will win more comfortably than many expect. Ljubicic was comfortable against Stakhovsky without having to play exceptionally well, and had a good win over Cilic but facing Murray at Wimbledon is a completely different test. We've seen this over the past couple of years in Simon, Troicki and even Ferrero that it's not easy to play the Scot on home soil and although Ljubicic is experienced enough to not let this faze him, I still see parts of the match where Murray is really on top and Ljubicic even with his big serve struggles to harm Andy. Ivan easily won the last meeting back in China at the back end of last year but before that, Murray had won the last 4, winning easily in two of those matches. Really do fancy him today and although Ljubicic may pinch a tight set, I do see Murray motoring ahead in at least one set, so wouldn't go near the unders here, look at DGT in the first round, but the handicap looks a good enough price for me to back the Scot here. God help me. I'm with Mirage on this one and I don't see it being as tight as it was at Queen's. I watched virtually all of Lopez's match against Schuettler where I had the Spaniard on the handicap which he covered. However, his serve wasn't looking as effective as it sometimes is in matches. The German had a fair number of break points on Lopez's serve, 8 in total but only took one and in the end he just ran out of steam like he does so often in a lengthy match. In the rallies though, Lopez, to be fair was poor. It always looked as though he'll throw in an unforced error at anytime, and he really just didn't do anything in the rallies to trouble Schuettler. Was either straight to him, or just the backhand slice which Roddick will love today. Granted Andy doesn't do alot in the rallies either, but if there are a fair share of rallies today, Roddick should come out on top on a far more regular basis than Lopez. At Queen's, neither could do much on the other's serve, but if Lopez serves like he did against Schuettler, which although the stats say 28 aces, wasn't great Andy should be able to be comfortable for most parts here and return a decent percentage which in the end should lead to him winning this in better style than a couple of weeks ago, and the handicap is low enough for me to have faith in the American. Gone for the unders with Berdych over the handicap, which was the opposite to what I did in his match against Benneteau. I've done this simply becuase of the better price and if the Czech plays how he did against the Frenchman in his previous match, there's no way Bogomolov will be able to cope with Berdych here. It was the best I've seen him play for a good while, and his poor end to the clay season looks to be well and truly forgotten. As i mentioned when I wrote about that match, Berdych has got to do well over these two weeks to try and defend his points after his poor French Open, so he's going to want to dispatch of his American opponent as quickly as possible today, like he did against Volandri and Benneteau. Bogomolov had a near enough walk over against Chela in the previous round, and that could well work against him in some aspects. His past two opponents have been pretty average players, but then trying to improve your game to match a guy in the top 8 must be hugely difficult to do and try and adapt to the quicker pace and extra quality from the first point. Really don't see him being able to do that or trouble Berdych too much, like he didn't against Malisse last week where Malisse found it no trouble to break serve and win comfortably. See the same happening again today and Berdych to do this fairly easily for me.

Just the one for me tomorrow I think. Still have the Del Porto handicap pending and the Troicki outright so I'll be rooting for those 2 as well as Isner who I'm taking on the handicap. Nicolas Almagro vs John Isner- Isner -3.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10)- LOSS Juan Martin Del Porto vs Olivier Rochus- Del Porto -7.5 handicap- 5/6 Ladbrokes- (4/10)- WIN
Del Porto did what I expected of him today by crushing Rochus. Got the Isner one completely wrong though, Almagro was better in all departments really. Shame that Troicki lost for one of the outrights but Monfils can make up for that tomorrow hopefully. -0.67 today then, meaning I'm onto +3.19 now. Need to improve on that significantly for a good slam.
  8. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Just the one for me tomorrow I think. Still have the Del Porto handicap pending and the Troicki outright so I'll be rooting for those 2 as well as Isner who I'm taking on the handicap. Nicolas Almagro vs John Isner- Isner -3.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Got to favour the American here on a grass court over Almagro anyday of the week in my opinion. Almagro really doesn't do a great deal of damage away from the clay and despite his top 20 ranking, most of these points have come from the slower courts. His win over Nieminen in the first round was his first victory since his huge choke in the French Open against Kubot. He lost to Berrer in 3 over in Holland so what kind of mental shape he is in at the minute would worry me with the Spaniard. Isner though will be on a massive high after beating Mahut. Partly down to the match not lasting for a month, but also he will be fairly well rested for this one, unlike after last year's match where he wasn't in any shape to play. Tomorrow he will be though with his serve and power off the court, struggle to see Almagro coping with him for the distance and although it may be close in parts, I do fancy the big John to win and cover the handicap in the meantime.

  9. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

4 for me today with the men. Surprised I haven't been taking more women's matches but can't see anything around that appeals to me so just sticking to the men which if all goes well, could see me turn around the losses into a profit today. Sergiy Stakhovsky vs Ivan Ljubicic- Ljubicic -3.5 handicap- Evens Bet365- (5/10)- WIN Rainer Schuettler vs Feliciano Lopez- Lopez -5.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10)- WIN Julien Benneteau vs Tomas Berdych- Berdych -6.5 handicap- 8/11 Ladbrokes- (4/10)- WIN
Much better today, the Del Porto handicap is still pending but I still have some faith in him despite losing the first set on a tie break. Hopefully he'll come back all guns blazing tomorrow. Elsewhere Ljubicic was comfortable, Berdych looked very impressive, must be said and Lopez eventually broke through Schuettler's serve in the third and fourth sets. Probably oppose him against Roddick though, in the rallies he doesn't do much. Not to mention his vollying today was awful considering he's meant to be on of the best net players on the tour according to some ex 'expert' on the forum. Monfils won as well so the outright is still on there which is hopeful. +11.23 today then, bringing me an overall profit for the first time of +3.86 in the tournament which I'll take after some rotten luck early on. Hopefully can build on it now over the next 10 days or so.
  10. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon 4 for me today with the men. Surprised I haven't been taking more women's matches but can't see anything around that appeals to me so just sticking to the men which if all goes well, could see me turn around the losses into a profit today. Sergiy Stakhovsky vs Ivan Ljubicic- Ljubicic -3.5 handicap- Evens Bet365- (5/10) Rainer Schuettler vs Feliciano Lopez- Lopez -5.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Julien Benneteau vs Tomas Berdych- Berdych -6.5 handicap- 8/11 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Juan Martin Del Porto vs Olivier Rochus- Del Porto -7.5 handicap- 5/6 Ladbrokes- (4/10) I like Ljubicic in this match up and his win over Cilic yesterday should give him confidence for this week after a weird loss to Stepanek over at Queen's. He served 21 aces yesterday in his win over Cilic and more importantly served well at key moments in the match and if his serve is on song again today, find it difficult to see a way into the match for Stakhovsky. The Ukranian has had a poor preparation period to Wimbledon on the grass with first round defeats at Queen's and Eastbourne. He beat Daniel Cox yesterday but it wasn't a walkover and looking at the stats, there wasn't a whole lot between the two but it looks like Stakhovsky had the extra quality in moments to see him through. Ljubicic is a huge step up in class though after he has picked up his game since his injury woes. He's beaten Stakhovsky in the past 2 meetings, and the one meeting this year he covered the handicap so I'll back him to do the same again today. I've thought quite a bit about this match and although Schuettler matches have a tendancy to f*ck me over, I'm backing Lopez to win with some to spare. Granted he isn't the best on return, but his serve is still big enough to lead him to victory against guys of Schuettler's quality. The German will struggle to do much on Lopez's serve, and the Spaniard will be able to pick up plenty of cheap points, like he did against Berrer in the first round. Schuettler beat Bellucci in his first round match but the Brazilian hasn't been great of late and looked extremely dodgy on grass coming into Wimbledon so I wouldn't read too much into that despite the German winning as the underdog. I watched a bit of his match against Nishikori last week over at Eastbourne and it did look to me that the German was struggling in most aspects of the match. His serve doesn't have any fizz on it, his groundstrokes lack power and his footwork just looked a bit past it. He managed to pinch a set off Nishikori but then lost the third set with ease and Lopez's power should be way too much for the veteran today in my eyes. The Spaniard absolutely dominates the H2H, leading 7-1, and winning the last 4, whilst covering the handicap in the past 2 matches. Lopez should be fine here as long as he is focussed and if he is, the handicap should be covered. Was either the unders or the handicap in Berdych's match but given Benneteau can always nick a tight set, I've plumped for the handicap just in case. Given last year's performance, Berdych has got a vast amount of points to defend over the next couple of weeks, and given his poor show at the French Open, he will be extremely motivated and up for this tournament which leads me to thinking he's not going to waste much time in beating Benneteau today, much like he didn't against Volandri in the first round. He will just want to do the job and get off court to save him from any fatigue that will hamper him in the latter rounds. Granted Volandri's poor serving didn't make it particularly hard for Berdych, but he did look comfortable and looks to be playing well on the grass after his disappointing end to the clay season. Benneteau played close to 3 hours yesterday in his 5 setter againt Bemelmans after almost choking a 2 set lead away so he can't be 100% for today I can't imagine. Kunitsyn easily beat him last week and given Berdych's motivation for this tournament, I don't see him coping with the Czech today and the power should be too much for Benneteau to cope with after yesterday's marathon so I'll take Berdych to win this with a fair bit of ease in the end. The Del Porto-Rochus affair just looks a complete mismatch to me despite Del Porto still not back to his best I'd fancy him to win this comfortably. Rochus is one of the smallest guys on the tour, and although he can return a fair amount of balls, he's going to struggle do trouble Del Porto in anyway and how he's going to win a significant amount of games is beyond me. Rochus was actually Del Porto's first match back since his injury last year and Rochus incredibly only just about won in two tight sets. Del Porto is nowhere near that level that he was that day and he is nowhere near as rusty as he was. I do just fear that Rochus will get blown off the court today, like Cipolla was in Del Porto's first match so the handicap looks good on Del Porto to me.

  11. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Had another look this morning and taken 3 in actual fact. Hoping for better results than yesterday. Xavier Malisse vs Mischa Zverev- Malisse -7.5 handicap- 4/5 Bet365- (5/10)- WIN Somdev Devvarman vs Denis Gremelmayr- Devvarman -4.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10)- VOID John Isner vs Nicolas Mahut- Under 43.5 games- 10/11 Ladbrokes- (4/10)- WIN
Better results there, although the luck still hasn't been favourable with Devvarman looking good with the handicap until Gremelmayr retired but just glad to have some profit to speak of. +7.63 bringing me down to -7.37. On the positive side, Troicki and Monfils both won their first round matches, so the two outrights are still on for them. Good shouts from IAG I saw, almost a full house.
  12. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Finally seen the Roddick and Murray prices and have, after thought, backed them quite comfortably to do the job today. Andy Murray vs Daniel Gimeno-Traver- Under 27.5 games- 8/11 Bet365- (6/10)- LOSS Andreas Beck vs Andy Roddick- Under 31.5 games- 11/10 Ladbrokes- (5/10)- LOSS
How Roddick hasn't covered Atko's handicap and the unders for a few of us is a mystery. For the unders, he had so many oppotunities to take this final set 6-2 or better and in the f*cking end takes it 6-3, one more game than the overs. Never ever been so frustrated in such a short space of time. 3 bets out by one game. Did take a handicap with Murray in play but that barely does anything. So to start the tournament I'm on -15.00. Absolutely gutted.
  13. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon

Right let the tennis begin then. Really hard to find much value about with some odds on the handicaps a joke. Doesn't help matters when Bet365 are back to their lazy ways of not putting all the additional markets up for all of the matches. Still haven't done the Roddick or Murray matches which were 2 that I was interested in taking. Anyways I've taken 3 for now, may take more tomorrow and it involves a couple of the men's matches and one women's. The write-ups won't be brilliant due to the time and I'm knackered but blame Bet365 for that. Feliciano Lopez vs Michael Berrer- Berrer +6.5 handicap- 8/11 Bet365- (5/10)- LOSS Fabio Fognini vs Milos Raonic- Tie Break in match- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10)- VOID Vera Dushevina vs Roberta Vinci- Over 20.5 games- 4/5 Bet365- (4/10)- LOSS
Berrer missed the handicap by a single game. The women's match lasted 20 games, so again one game out. And to add insult to injury, Fognini withdrew, but in Raonic's match there was a tie break. :wall
  14. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Had another look this morning and taken 3 in actual fact. Hoping for better results than yesterday. Xavier Malisse vs Mischa Zverev- Malisse -7.5 handicap- 4/5 Bet365- (5/10) Somdev Devvarman vs Denis Gremelmayr- Devvarman -4.5 handicap- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) John Isner vs Nicolas Mahut- Under 43.5 games- 10/11 Ladbrokes- (4/10) Do these quite quickly as it's not long till the matches start. Malisse has played some decent stuff in the past couple of weeks. Took a set off Murray and made the semis in Holland last week. Zverev in the other hand has lost his lat 5, 2 of the last losses in straight sets on grass so not sure how he'll cope with Malisse today. The handicap looks low enough for me to back Malisse here. As much as the Indian has struggled of late, I still fancy him to win with a bit to spare today. Gremelmayr mostly plays the challenger events, and his best results usually come on the clay courts. Baghdatis creamed his last week, losing just one game. Devvarman had some good results earlier on in the year on the quicker courts, giving Nadal and Federer some things to think about. Just fancy him today to do the job with the relatively small handicap. Already been mentioned about the line between this two. Last year was a freak result and it's not going to be anything remotely near that figure today. Mahut has struggled with injury in past week or two, and I'd fancy Isner to win this. Even if there's 4 relatively close sets, the line looks to high so I'll back the unders.

  15. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Finally seen the Roddick and Murray prices and have, after thought, backed them quite comfortably to do the job today. Andy Murray vs Daniel Gimeno-Traver- Under 27.5 games- 8/11 Bet365- (6/10) Really don't see the Scot longing this one out and he'll want to be off court in as quick as possible in what could be the biggest couple of weeks in his tennis career. We saw how well he was playing at Queen's, destroying Roddick's game and eventually taking the title. The Spaniard has only won 3 sets, let alone matches away from the clay courts this season showing exactly where he is on the quicker courts at the minute. Petzschner easily beat him in Halle, and then a Spanish youngster outside the top 200 beat him last week. I just don't see how he will do anything to worry Murray in the slightest today and 6-1 6-2 in their previous meeting, wouldn't be suprised if Murray doesn't do something similiar again today but 3 easy sets for the Scot here. Andreas Beck vs Andy Roddick- Under 31.5 games- 11/10 Ladbrokes- (5/10) Now I know Andy isn't the player he once was but he still is one of the best around on the grass. He played some good tennis over at Queen's before running into an inspired Murray who couldn't miss a ball that day. Before that though he comfortably beat Anderson and Verdasco, and he should have enough about him after that week of preparation to see him through today. Beck has come through 3 qualifiers to make the first round here, including a long tough 5 setter against Jurgen Zopp which must have taken it out of the German, put on top of his previous 2 matches. Regardless if he is fully fit though, whether he is up to playing Roddick and causing him problems I'm not so sure. Roddick's serve is still mighty, and whilst Beck has a good serve on him as well, Roddick should be able to get a look on it and break at least once in each set, if not twice for a really comfortable set. He may not be the guy he was in the past, but I'm still fancying Andy to get this one done with some ease, so again the unders for me here.

  16. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon Right let the tennis begin then. Really hard to find much value about with some odds on the handicaps a joke. Doesn't help matters when Bet365 are back to their lazy ways of not putting all the additional markets up for all of the matches. Anyways I've taken 3 for now, may take more tomorrow and it involves a couple of the men's matches and one women's. The write-ups won't be brilliant due to the time and I'm knackered but blame Bet365 for that. Feliciano Lopez vs Michael Berrer- Berrer +6.5 handicap- 8/11 Bet365- (5/10) Couple of big servers here who aren't the best on return which leads me to believe this will be a tight one in which the Spaniard should prevail in. Both have had fairly similiar seasons in terms of results. Lopez is coming off a good clay season whilst Berrer enjoyed some good results on the quicker courts early on. Despite being well and truly played off the court by Tsonga at Queen's a couple of weeks back, Berrer will take some confidence into tomorrows match following his win over Almagro last week in Holland whilst Lopez took the week off. I fancy Berrer to keep this pretty tight for the duration of the match and could even pinch a set with his power and decent serve, Lopez won't find it particularly easy to break serve. Should be a serve fest like it was in their only meeting last year where Lopez won 7-6 7-5. Fancy Berrer to push Lopez here so the handicap looks good to me. Fabio Fognini vs Milos Raonic- Tie Break in match- 5/6 Bet365- (4/10) Was always going to either back the overs or tie break in this one but in the end plumped for the tie break due to the more appealing price of the two. Despite Fognini not playing since the French Open, I still feel he will be able to hold his own and force a couple of tight sets and hopefully a tie break amongst them. Granted he isn't the best player on the quicker courts, but he can hit winners, and with Raonic not being the greatest defensive player in the world, he should win his fair share of points. Raonic as we know has one of the best serves in the game with a killer forehand. Fognini won't get many oppotunities to break in the match so it will all rely on how the Italian serves. There were 3 tie breaks in total in his opening two matches at Wimbledon last year so he is no stranger to the breakers. Given Raonic's defensive qualities, I do fancy Fognini to hold his serve enough in at least one set so I'll take the tie break here at 5/6 with the price a shade lower around the other bookies. One for the women then. Vera Dushevina vs Roberta Vinci- Over 20.5 games- 4/5 Bet365- (4/10) Have to take the overs in this one given the history of these two. All 5 meetings between the two have gone to a deciding third set, with the Russian shading the H2H 3-2. Vinci has been in the better form by far this season, winning the title in Holland last week so she's in good form but could be a tad jaded after only a day or two in London. Dushevina, no matter what form she's in is never an easy draw to get. She beat Schiavone here last year in the first round, and despite having a poor season, she can always turn it on and be a threat. She also does have a tendancy to have some lengthy matches up her sleeve and I'll hope she pulls one of those out tomorrow and make it 6/6 that have gone the distance.

  17. Re: Tennis - Wimbledon After all the unwanted trash has been put out for recycling, let's hope we see some of the regulars back and also a few more newer faces to the forum, ahead of what should be a cracking couple of weeks. I've taken a couple of pre-tournament bets ahead of the handicaps and what not which should be out tomorrow. Here's to a profitable slam for the forum :hope Gael Monfils to reach the last 16- 11/10 Sportingbet- (4/10) Viktor Troicki to reach the last 16- 6/4 Sportingbet- (4/10) I took a similiar bet on with Almagro at the French Open but he fell in the first round after that massive choke against Kubot but that hasn't put me off backing Monfils or Troicki to win their first 3 matches and reach the last 16. I'll firstly talk about the Frenchman who although being unpredictable at times, has a pretty decent draw this year. Monfils' possible route to the last 16 is Bachinger, Kendrick and then possibly Tipsarevic. This doesn't look too taxing for Monfils at all in my opinion. Bachinger is a guy who travels round the challenger tour, occassionally making the first round of an ATP event but this is his first appearence in the main draw at Wimbledon so Monfils shouldn't have too many problems there. After that it's probably Robert Kendrick I'd imagine who is certainly no mug on the quicker surfaces but Monfils has already beaten him this year, and won the last 3 in total, Not particularly easily I might add, but he has got the job done and I'd expect him to do the same if they do meet in the second round. The final round for the bet will pit him against Tipsarevic if the seedings are to believed but the Serb has got a trickier draw than Monfils, which will see him play Karlovic and then possibly Clement before he would play the Frenchman. Both Karlovic and Clement are potential banana skin opponents for Tipsarevic who could quite easily slip up against either one. Especially given the fact he still has a possible two matches to play today in Eastbourne so his preparation won't exactly be perfect given his busy schedule. Monfils has beaten Tipsarevic in 3 of the last 4 meetings including at the US open last year, and Davis Cup right at the end of last season. Watched Monfils over in Halle last week and he seemed to be playing pretty decent tennis on the grass until he came across an inspired Kohlschreiber who looked a different player last week. His draw this week looks pretty tasty though in the early stages, and although he's never going to do things the easy way, I do fancy him to get to the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. Troicki is another guy who looks to high here to reach the last 16. Granted his draw isn't as favourable as Monfils' is on paper, but nonetheless I think he has a pretty good chance of meeting Djokovic in the fourth round. The Serb's route will be Maximo Gonzalez, then either Lu or Robredo, probably Lu given Robredo's lack of court time due to injury, and then probably Llodra if his injury from last week isn't too serious. Gonzalez is a clay courter through and through so no worries for Troicki there you'd imagine, then despite Lu's heroics last year, I wouldn't fancy him against a much improved Troicki from last year. Lu's lost to Kukushkin and Mayer in the past couple of weeks so I'd fancy Troicki to be comfortable there as well. If Llodra is indeed fit, he's got a pretty attractive couple of first matches. James Ward and then Ricardo Mello should probably await him, a draw that probably the Frenchman couldn't have picked himself. Regardless of Ward's run at Queen's, whether he could step it up at Wimbledon and prove it wasn't a fluke, I'm not so sure. If it is a Troicki-Llodra affair, you'd have to fancy the Serb though. A 2-0 lead in the H2H, including one at Indian Wells earlier on in the season, I'd be more than happy to be on Troicki at 6/4 to beat Llodra, who has never progressed past the second round at SW19. Troicki's been beaten by Melzer and Murray in the past couple of years, however given his seeding he won't face that kind of quality until Djokovic if he gets there, so like Monfils, I'll take him at odds against to make his first fourth round draw at Wimbledon.
