  1. Re: Jumps Racing - Sunday 2nd December 1:35 Fairyhouse RFC- ARVIKA LIGEONNIERE and DEDIGOUT. hard to split these two, I recon that the value could be found in reverse forecast. Willie mullins described arvika ligeonniere performance last time out as electric. standing at 17 hands high this Gelding looks fit for purpose over the larger Obstacles. he had a few problems last season but has got class and a decent Engine, surely Willie Mullins should have him tuned for tommorow. dedigout who was equally impressive on his chase debut last time out simply toyed with his opponents and should also be going places this term. Already a grade 1 winner over hurdles, dedigout promised to deliver more over fences and did not dissapoint. He should take all the beating here but with arvika ligeonniere been a class act from a powerful yard this small field could and should develop into a two horse race.

  2. Re: Jumps Racing - Sunday 2nd December 1:05 Fairyhouse JEZKI who ran behind champagne fever at the Cheltenham Festival last season as improved leaps and bounds. he jumps quick and accurate and is developing in to a real class horse. A fascinating race in store jezki may be able to get the better of champagne fever and take his reputation to the next level. at best price tonight 11/4 with tote and betfred he is more than capable of leaving the favorite behind with quality jumping.

  3. Re: Jump Racing Sat 1st December 1:20 Fairyhouse MONTRASIL has patchy form and runs best when fresh. Decent when with Noel Meade, his new trainer has rekindled some flame into montrasil and at best price 12/1 could be worth a small E/W bet. 5lb rise from his good run last time could make things more difficult but could still be dangerous to dismiss if in the same mood.

  4. Re: Jump Racing Sat 1st December 12:10 Fairyhouse LORD OF LORDS looks to have a bright future over hurdles. Impressive last time lord of lords has moved from Helena Keaveney to Edward O Grady and as the booking of Paddy Brennan today. Fav Ned Buntline was also a easy winner and makes a nice race in store. with cramped odds on the Fav surely any value would side with lord of lords who is best priced 7/2 at moment. Although as a rule i tend to stay away from horses making there debut over hurdles i feel that Ned Buntline also has it to prove.

  5. Re: Navan/International Racing > Sunday 25th November Just seen your Msge Mowgli. I have another i will put it up (Kids footy in morning so not around for inspections). 3:25 Navan CAOIMHE'S DELIGHT 13/2 paddy power. has been descibed by her trainer as a very, very useful mare. not one for getting her head in front she took up the running last time 1F out and strode out like a useful sort (again Grade 1 track). Another horse who looks like she as a decent future this mare should be able to finish close tomorrow (weather dependant) at 13/2 or there abouts a solid E/W bet recomended.

  6. Re: Navan/International Racing > Sunday 25th November 12:55 Navan BONISLAND. 5/2 ladbrokes. Classy Bonisland should make his mark over hurdles with a good display last time out at Down Royal. winning impressive at a grade 1 track always carries good vibes. Bonisland looks a well balanced horse and a good display tomorrow looks sure to be on the cards. whatever the out come tomorrow Bonisland should continue on a upward curve.

  7. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season A race that in its short history has produced single-figure fields and was considerably weakened by the absence of the long odds-on favourite Sprinter Sacre due to the ground. The race looked a match on paper between WISHFULL THINKING and Doeslessthanme, as the pair had a fair bit in hand over the rest judged on the ratings, and that was how it turned out. It was not totally straightforward for the winner though, as he was almost turned sideways by a blunder at the first and then made several sketchy leaps before getting to the front after four out. Once in front he looked much happier and his jumping improved, enabling him to come right away. This should act as a confidence booster, but he will need to avoid the big guns in future races, and his trainer mentioned the Peterborough Chase as a likely target. Not something really you want to be banking on in the good races. things that could be well worth taking forward include, Dynaste, Our Father, Al Ferof, Walkon, Ifandbutwhynot, Captain conan, Double Ross (hurdles) and Coneycree. This bunch performed exceptionally well over the meeting and we should here a lot more about these this season.

  8. Re: Greyhound Insider Knowledge Tips - Daily FREE Tips I have been watching. But through work Ect i would not have been able to get on. I had my fingers burned with a greyhound man once before and vowed not to back dogs again. I find this thread intresting and i am going to give GI the benefit of the doubt. Its early days still and we have to remember that 100% will not always stand its ground. More to the point the selections GI have passed on are more selective than scattergun approach (Dog Racing) and to achieve 4/4 is brilliant. Well done GI keep up the good work

  9. Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread Grands Crus, a smart novice last year at up to 3m before disappointing in the RSA Chase, was heavily backed for this. Held up early, he moved into contention on the second circuit, if not travelling as strongly as he has done in the past. He had every chance three out but was beaten in a matter of strides soon after, a similar scenario to what had happened at the Festival. The impression was he has some sort of problem, which will hopefully come to light allowing connections to sort it out. The Stewards considered the running of the gelding. They noted the trainer could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance and they ordered Grands Crus to be routine tested. The vet reported that during routine testing he found that the gelding had lost a left fore shoe. I agree by what you say Billy and it will probably turn out to be more than a shoe.

  10. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season There was little pace on, yet the right horses still managed to draw away down the straight, with DARLAN, arguably unfortunate not to land the Supreme, readily gaining compensation and propelling himself into the picture for next year´s Champion Hurdle in the process. He´d looked something of a bridle horse earlier in the season, but seems to be maturing with racing and really saw this out well having met resistance from his stablemate. That will be it for the season and the Fighting Fifth appeals as the obvious stating point next term.......QUOTES: Tony McCoy, rider of Darlan: "He is a horse we thought a lot of. He was going very well in the Betfair Hurdle and had a very heavy fall. He was a very good jumper before he fell and it knocked his confidence a bit at Cheltenham where he got a little bit far back."

  11. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season Be aware of the odds on fav WISHFUL THINKING. Not the best of the bunch. Analysis from Aintree Wishfull Thinking, giving weight all round, is very talented when at his best but simply couldn´t get anywhere near For Non Stop after being towards the rear. A mistakefive out didn´t help but it also didn´t cost him victory.

  12. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season Traditionally the first big handicap chase of the season and a contest with a long history and always very competitive. Subsequent Gold Cup winner Imperial Commander took this in 2008 and there were several in this year´s line-up with the potential to follow in his footsteps. Two of those were AL FEROF and Walkon and, once the pair joined issue turning for home, they came right away from the rest. The first three home were all French-bred. Al Ferof, a smart novice last season whose form tailedoff a little after finishing third in the Victor Chandler, was a previous course winner over both hurdles and fences. He had won over 2m3 1/2f over hurdles but was unproven at this trip. Ruby Walsh rode him with plenty of confidence though, tracking the pace before getting involved from halfway and travelling like the winner on the run down to three out. He was made to fight by the runner-up but found plenty up the hill to score decisively. Connections were talking in terms of the King George afterwards and he could prove a major player in that contest if he handles the sharper track. Walkon, a winner and runner-up in the Triumph Hurdle over hurdles on this track back in 2009 but well beaten in the RSA Chase in the spring, appreciated the softer ground and, after travelling well in the wake of the leaders, came out of the pack as the main challenger to the winner. He was unable to get by his rival in the straight, but looks to have a major chance if returning here for the big handicap chase next month. Nadiya De La Vega, who made a winning reappearance on this track last month, was 8lb higher in a tougher race. She showed up just off the pace throughout but could not go with the first two from the home turn. She still looks up to winning good races this season. Casey Top, who was runner-up in the Galway Plate in August on soft ground, although much of his previous form on a faster surface, was only 3lb higher here and cut out the running at a pace that caused the majority of the field tofail to finish. He deserves extra credit for still being there at the end. Questions Answered, a useful chaser at up to 3m who is well suited by soft ground, had been placed in the Kerry and Munster Nationals on his two previous starts and his stamina for further enabled him to keep going when others cried enough. That said, he was never seriously involved. Aerial, a progressive French import last season who finished fourth in this race and runner-up at the April meeting off this mark, tracked the pace but seemed to lose his pitch at the top of the hill and could never get back into the race. Hunt Ball, a rapidly progressive performer last season over fences, winning off a mark of just 69 just over a year ago and ending up by winning a Listed handicap off the Cheltenham festival off 142, was another 15lb higher here after finishing third in a Grade 1 at Aintree. Well supported beforehand, he was being niggled at down the back straight and was beaten by the time they reached the lastditch at the top of the hill. Kieran Burke, the trainer, reported that the gelding was unsuited by the soft, heavy in places, ground. Grands Crus, a smart novice last year at up to 3m before disappointing in the RSA Chase, was heavily backed for this. Kingsmere, a progressive novice who was bidding for a hat-trick and still going strongly when coming down two out at the October meeting, showed up for a long way but weakened from the top of the hill. The experience should not be lost on him. The Disengager, a progressive chaser over the summer, winning off a mark of 105 in May and improving to take a Listed handicap at Market Rasen off 134 in September, ran a fine race off 141 and, after being in the first two for a long way, only backed out of it running to three out. Micheal Flips is a smart chaser on his day but four of his five wins have been on right-handed tracks, and he was being pushed along before being hampered by the faller at the eighth. He did well to keep going for so long afterwards. [Ashley Rumney] QUOTES: Paul Nicholls, trainer of Al Ferof said: "Now he has the strength to stay helps. Before he´s been a bit weak and might not have got a trip but he´s got there now. He´s in the King George and we´ll have a chat with Ruby and see. There is the Peterborough but I suspect John will want to go for the King George now and on that performance why not?"

  13. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season A good quality staying novices´ chase that has been won in recent years by the subsequent Grand National hero Comply Or Die and the dual Ryanair Chase winner Albertas Run. This year´s line-up looked pretty much up to scratch with five of the six to have previously raced over fences being winners and the other having been runner-up in a Listed handicap at the Festival. OUR FATHER, making his chasing debut, was tremendously impressive and jumped beautifully. Held up early and given a good view of his fences, he closed on the leaders going down the far side and a prodigious leap at the big ditch on the top of the hill put him bang into contention. From that point on he was always galloping over the runner-up and he came away from the third-last without anything near maximum effort. He looks a terrific prospect but the one concern is that he has scored first time out on both his previous seasons of racing and then not really built on it. With that in mind connections might decide to keep him fresh forthe big spring meetings, with the RSA Chase the likely target. Sire Collonges, successful in his two previous starts over fences, made the running and jumped pretty fluently, but could not pick up when the winner cruised alongside on the run down to three out. Time may prove it was no disgrace trying to give Our Father 8lb and he can win more chases this season. White Star Line, who had plenty of experience of fences and had placed at the festival in March, had since pulled up behind the favourite last month. He was tailed off running down the hill but plugged on past beaten rivals on the climb to the line to take the minor placing. He looks worth persevering with over the trip on soft ground. What A Warrior, all of whose hurdle andchase wins had been on good ground, ran a brave race, having been close to the pace throughout, but was left behind running down the hill. He should make a decent handicapper in due course. Sraid Padraig, a point winner who had scoring well on his chasing debut on testing ground, found this too tough and was struggling from the top of the hill. Sea Of Thunder, 3lb better off with the favourite compared with their running at the last meeting here, was never far away and then took on his oldrival going down the back second time. However, he was in trouble running down the hill and probably found the rain-softened ground against him. Masters Hill, who had made such an impressive chasing debut at Chepstow, was keen early and tended to run a little in snatches before losing his place and making mistakes early on the second circuit. It is back to the drawing board now but he is clearly better than this effort suggests. Joe Tizzard reported that the gelding was never travelling. [Ashley Rumney] QUOTES: David Pipe, trainer of Our Father said: "Timmy [Murphy] has given him a great ride and picked some better ground around the outside. He´s always been a horse of potential and I´ve said all along it´s going to be a big season for him and it might get bigger."

  14. Re: Cheltenham 2012-13 season Not a good day again. horse racing runs through my veins and i tend to give up early with having bad days. Reason i came to do a blog/thread is to try and not give in as easy. only standing now at +1 in front. still got tomorrow to salvage before we move on to the international meeting 14 - 15 dec.
