  2. Re: BBOTD Saturday 3rd of September 3.00 Haydock: Secret Millionaire 1pt win @ 11/1 Bet365 BOG This horse quite well handicapped on best known form having won from 3lbs higher in the past (this time last year) over this trip. Ground conditions ideal, handicap mark workable, positive jockey booking in Richard Hughes and recent form not too bad at all having ran very close from 1lb lower on penultimate start. Big chance at decent price IMO.

  3. Re: The Aldermoor Gamble Don't think Ted was having a pop Aidy. If I picked it up correctly it is just a difference in personal gambling strategy. Ted, myself included in this by the way, tends to look for well handicapped animals that have the potential to run well from their current lowly rating when conditions look ideal - however we wouldn't necessarily put our hard earned down once the value in the price had gone. It is just a personal attitude towards gambling and don't think anything was meant by the comment mate. If you took every punters betting strategy from this forum, there wouldn't be two that were identical - therefore we wouldn't all agree ;) Hope that makes sense pal :ok

  4. Re: The Aldermoor Gamble

But why accept it ? You saying if you had a big bet only to see the jockey not put the horse in the race but that's ok caus that's what racings all about ?
It happens every day in some way or another if you looked at each race closely enough but it would be surely impossible to combat so why not just accept it occurs and move on. We've all mumped and moaned when this has happened to us and it is hard to take at the time for sure but it is an accepted risk when you put your money down on a sport where gambling plays such an important role. Don't mean to have a pop mate but it's part and parcel unfortunately :ok
  5. Re: The Aldermoor Gamble Whilst a handicap system exists there will always be someone trying to work it to their best advantage - fact. No way of getting away from it i'm afraid pals. For the measly money put up as prizes for these events a handicap sting is bound to happen every so often. It's just an accepted part of the sport in my opinion, that while there are handicaps these things are going to happen. If you see a well handicapped out of form horse from a stable renowned for a flutter being well supported at early prices, have a couple of quid on as the signs are there that a better effort is expected and that the horse may well leave recent form behind. This sport is not always about checking form and stats, occasionally (generally in lower class races) a look at the market can tell you something that recent form stats can't. I have absolutely no problem with this type of gamble and the fact that every once in the while the bookies take a hit - you just have to hope that when that horse's day comes... your moneys down :ok

  7. Re: Right Race, Right Time Selections Better with both 2pt selections coming in at best odd guaranteed - Athwaab was the nearly horse of the day going down by half length at a tasty price... one of these days ;) 1/9 3.40 Redcar: Regimental (-1.00) 4.50 Redcar: Fantino (-1.00) 5.00 Salisbury: Athwaab (-1.00) 5.20 Redcar: Falcun (-1.00) 5.50 Redcar: Brocturne Papa Gio - Won 5/2 (+5pts) 8.10 Kempton: Professor John 2pts Won 7/2 (+7pts) 8.40 Kempton: Wodian -1.00 1/9 returns: +7.00pts Bank: 95.95 P/L: -4.05 more of the same tomorrow hopefully :ok

  8. Re: BBOTD 1st September 2.20 Newton Abbot: ILLYSANTACHRISTINA 1pt win @ 17/2 VC Bet BOG This horse has been given a break since May when a disappointing favourite over a furlong further at Aintree. However, had looked quite progressive prior to that racking up two wins over similar trips, the latter of which was over this trip on good to firm ground as today. Horse is fairly unexposed and would be surprised if the progress had ended - so on return from a short break, with stable in decent heart and in a slightly easier class of handicap than last win, I think this horse could go very close here at a decent price.

  10. Re: BBOTD Wednesday 31st August 7.05 Carlisle: Blue Spinnaker 1pt win @ 20/1 Bet365 BOG Horse is well handicapped on best known form although appreciate that it's no spring chicken at 12 years old and best days are well behind it. However even on running the horse was capable of last year the current rating looks quite feasible and although hasn't shown anything so far this year, hasn't had ideal underfoot conditions. Shrewd yard and no forlorn hope here at 20/1.

  11. 13. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 30th August 8.25 Wolves: Kidlat 1pt win @ 12/1 Bet365 BOG May get run of the race from the front here in an open looking handicap. Has slipped back down to quite an attractive handicap mark having won from 79 over this trip at Kempton. Has course form and looks quite a tasty price at 12/1 here.

  15. Re: BBOTD Monday 29th 2.10 Warwick: Shostakovich 1pt win @ 14/1 Bet365 BOG Looks quite a nice price for this horse here on return to 6f. All wins have been over this trip and the horse is now down to quite an attractive mark having won from 3lbs higher in May. Yard only sending the one horse out today and think it could be a winner.

  18. Re: BBOTD 27th of August 3.20 Goodwood: Dubawi Gold 1pt win @ 5/1 Ladbrokes BOG Think this is a great price for this horse - has some top class group 1 form in the book and if able to recapture best would go very close. Poets Voice the obvious one but has questions to answer here especially returning after a layoff. Richard Hughes been quite bullish about the chances of this horse here and at 5/1 think represents the value of the race.
