  1. Re: BBOTD Friday 2nd of December 2.20 Lingfield: Focail Maith 1pt win @ 7/1 Bet365 BOG Quite an open looking race as cases could be made for quite a few here, however I really like the look of John Ryan's Focail Maith. Won very nicely on penultimate start over C&D quickening up well to win cosily in a race that has offers solid looking form. Didn't appear to quite see out the 10f on bottomless ground at Newcastle LTO but returned to the AW here today and from only 5lbs higher than that penultimate win, I think this horse may be good enough to take this today if able to get a decent pitch early from a dodgy draw.

  2. Re: Lough Derg Retired

Happy retirement Lough Derg ! Smashing horse, some of those wins at Ascot were breathtaking but my favourite is the Grade 2 Fontwell race in 2008 as well - he tore off in front as per usual but got pegged back and slipped back through the field then miraculously rallied back and came again !
That run was unbelievable - turning for home you couldn't have given the horse a chance. What a machine! As BH pointed out, the new whip rules were always going to go against horses like this. A horse made of steel that will be sorely missed ;)
  3. Re: BBOTD - Wed 30th Nov.

Unlike a certain glory hunter (you know who you are ;)) I am selecting a horse I think has a live chance of winning rather than a big outsider to try and jump up the table...
Quite a pointed remark and unnecessary in my opinion Andy unless you have said in jest mate - everybody plays it differently in here as well you know. I realise this post was aimed at Aidy but there are many of us (myself included) who thought if we had a chance of winning the BBOTD would pick out a larger priced horse to give ourselves the chance. I only have time to study one or two races max a day due to family and work commitments and will invariably choose the horse that I feel is the value out of that study time whether it is 20/1 or 3/1. However if I think I might have a chance of winning the comp I would be trying to make an argument for one of the larger priced horses :ok
  4. Re: BBOTD - Wed 30th Nov. 4.00 Kempton: Storm Runner 1pt win @ 14/1 Bet 365 BOG This horse ran well in a similar event over 7f last week staying on quite stoutly at the finish. Step up to a mile today may bring about improvement and on that run looks capable of winning a race such as this from current handicap rating. Stable in fine form at the minute and if able to get a decent pitch early from a dodgy draw may run close here at a nice price.

  5. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 29th 2.50 Lingfield: Piscean 1pt win @ 10/1 Ladbrokes Sorry to be on the same as a couple others in here, but had a good look at this race and feel this horse is the standout at the prices. Had a great winning spell on the all weather last autumn/winter culminating in a cosy victory over this trip at Wolves. Has had three runs back after a six month break on the turf this autumn and all have been relatively disappointing, however back on the polytrack today you would have to give this horse a big shout from only 1lb higher than that Wolves win, drawn well and with Jimmy Fortune looking a positive booking. 10/1 on offer looks generous IMO.

  6. Re: BBOTD Monday 28th of November Wolves 3.50: Imogen Louise 0.5pts e/w @ 20/1 Will Hill BOG First run for new stable today may bring about improvement from this horse. Only win has came in selling company, although that was probably the best piece of form the horse has shown. Having said that early handicap form from higher marks than this suggests that the horse may not be too badly treated here today. Drops to weakest handicap grade it has competed in and not impossible to assume that this yard could have the horse ready to go after a break. Drawn well and should have enough dash for this minimum trip.

  7. Re: BBOTD Saturday 26th of November 3.45 Newbury: Consigliere 1pt win @ 25/1 Bet365 BOG Returned to action after over 6 months off over a distance well short of ideal and put in a pretty poor show. Returns to a more suitable test here and runs from what looks a decent mark in a grade that the horse should be able to cope with on best form - no surprise at all to see that LTO form left well behind round a course that the hrose has winning form at. Big price but decent value for in form stable.

  8. Re: BBOTD Friday 25th of November 7.40 Wolves: My Kingdom 1pt win @ 20/1 Bet365 BOG Hasn't had a lot of chances on the all weather but is handicapped to go well if ready to go after a month off. Has won from far higher marks than this in the past on turf and ran well through the summer from a mark of 83 in class 3 handicap company (6lbs lower here and down in class). Shrewd stable and if there's any money for it take heed. but at the prices is worth a speculative punt here in my opinion given the stables current rich vein of form and the fact that this is their only entry of the night.

  9. Re: BBOTD Thursday 24th of November 5.40 Kempton: Miss Bounty 1pt win @ 11/1 Will Hill BOG Think this one is well worth the step back up to 12f here today. Ran with great credit over 10f LTO when beaten under two lengths by Woop Woop who hosed in yesterday from a higher mark - was doing all best work at the end so every chance that the step back up in trip may help. Runs from the same mark here today and if able to run to a similar level of form as that LTO run would not be far away IMO. The 11/1 available looks generous here.

  10. Re: BBOTD - Weds 23 November 1.05 Lingfield: Belle Bayardo 1pt win @ 9/1 Ladbrokes BOG Sorry andy but have to put this one up too. All wins to date over 5f including round here, however has some decent form over this trip and is very attractively handicapped on best known form. Trainer going great guns at present and drawn well so has to be a big price at current 9/1.

  11. Re: BBOTD - Tuesday, 22nd of November 2.10 Southwell: Soopacal 1pt win @ 14/1 Ladbrokes BOG Returned from 5 months off the track with quite a nice effort over C&D this month ; is very well handicapped on best known form, especially with Justin Newman good value for his 5lbs additional claim ; has course form, albeit over 5f but this step up to 6f looks interesting given way the horse ran LTO. Drawn well and no surprise to see it go well at a price.

  12. Re: BBOTD Monday 21st of November 2.15 Ludlow: Medicinal 1pt win @ 12/1 PP BOG Tight little handicap this with cases that could be made for each horse. The favourite looks the one to beat, however at the prices a small stakes wager on the outsider of the bunch could be the best value available. Trainer in tidy form at the minute and this horse returns to chasing after over two years having been showing regressive form over hurdles recently. However, current handicap mark for this former Paul Nicholls trained horse is sorely tempting and if in any kind of form after a short break could be absolutely hurled in here and no surprise to see recent form left well behind returned to the larger obstacles for an in-form yard.

  13. Re: BBOTD Saturday 19th of November 3.00 Lingfield: Sugar Beet 1pt win @ 8/1 Bet365 BOG A whole host of front runners in this contest today ensure this will be run at a break neck speed and every chance that they will slit each others throats and leave the door open for a hold up horse. This gives every chance to Ron Harris' horse Sugar Beet whose hold up tactics may prove ideal today - won on penultimate start in a similar contest where front runners set off too fast setting the race up for finisher. Trainer in decent heart and if the race pans out as I hope then the 8/1 available may prove great value.

  14. Re: BBOTD Friday 18th of November 3.30 Kempton: Rasheed 1pt win @ 12/1 Bet365 BOG Horse has been running relatively poorly in handicap company both on turf and the all weather, however from a mark of onl;y 70 it really must be considered here returned to the scene of it's only victory in maiden company. If the form of that race is taken literally then the horse should be more than capable of winning from 70 and hailing from a top yard it would be no surprise to see an improvement back over the only course the horse has won at.

  15. Re: BBOTD Thursday 17th of November 2.00 Hereford: Tout Regulier 1pt win @ 15/2 Bet365 BOG Willing to give this one a chance in a wide open looking race today. Has it all to prove over fences having been a half decent hurdler before three disappointing efforts over the larger obstacles. However, was certainly running a better race when last seen in August before taking a tumble at the last fence - looked booked for second that day. If none the worse for that fall then may be running from quite a lenient mark here on first effort in handicap company. Stable in decent heart and think the 15/2 available offers decent win value here.

  16. Re: BBOTD - Wednesday, 16th of November 1.30 Warwick: Lama Farmer 1pt win @ 9/1 Boylesports BOG Down to quite a tempting mark having been quite disappointing to date over fences. Didn't see out 3m2f LTO and dropped back to a more realistic trip here. Stable form solid at the minute and in an open looking race think it may be worth chancing this potentially well treated horse.

  17. Re: BBOTD Tuesday 15th of November 12.50 Southwell: Rios Girl 1pt win @ 10/1 Ladbrokes BOG Wide open contest here and think that Rio's Girl has a live chance at a price. Being out of Captain Rio, the fibresand should suit; horse is now back down to last winning mark; first run for new yard could bring about improvement and with Amy Ryan good for her additional 3lbs claim I think everything may be in place for a big run here. 10/1 looks a decent bet.

  18. Re: BBOTD - Monday, 14th of November 3.00 Plumpton: Watergate 1pt win @ 7/1 Bet365 BOG Giving weight away all round here but dropped back into a 0-100 for the first time over hurdles. Decent winner from 10lbs lower in March in a better contest than this and ground should cause no concern having looked the likely winner over fences on soft ground on the start before that victory. Stable in fine form just now and think this horse may just be too good for these in an open looking race.

  19. Re: BBOTD Saturday 12th of November 3.10 Cheltenham: Raslan 1pt win @ 20/1 Will Hill BOG Decent price available for this David Pipe horse IMO. Stable had a decent day here yesterday and are bang in form, this horse ran well here to finish 10l 4th in a competitive event from 18lbs higher so therefore on the face of it is very well handicapped and with course and distance no issue, and with conor o farrell good for his claim, I think this horse could leave recent disappointing running behind at a nice price.

  20. Re: BBOTD - Friday, 11th of November 2.55 Cheltenham: Ericht 1pt win @ 5/1 Bet365 BOG Cracking novice hurdle event here and I really fancy the Nicky Henderson horse here. Has some of the best bumper form on offer and if taking to hurdles would go very close, especially in receipt of weight from the market leaders. Conditions appear fine and with trainer in such good form, I think the 5/1 available is a decent value bet.
