  1. Re: BBOTD 12th of August 6.35 Newmarket: Greek War 1pt win @ 9/1 Will Hill BOG Sent off favourite on debut and ran well for a way before finishing 5th beaten 3 lengths. Didn't go unbacked that day and no surprise to see this horse give the odds on favourite a real fright here. Faces different conditions today encountering a sound surface and stepping up a furlong, which on breeding looks sure to help, and feel that the 9/1 available offers solid value.

  2. Re: BBOTD 11th August 7.15 Stratford: Monkhair 1pt win @ 12/1 Will Hill BOG Back to the jumps for a change tonight for me and I like the look of Tony Carroll's horse Monkhair. Is well handicapped on best known form having won from higher in the past, has won over the trip and was going well enough LTO before falling two from home - wasn't going to win on that occasion but was a far better run than most recent efforts. If able to build on that step back in the right direction then could go close with a capable apprentice claiming, what might prove valuable, additional 5lbs.

  3. Re: Flat Racing 10th of August Wolves 6.20: Cut the Cackle 0.5pts e/w @ 33/1 Ladbrokes BOG Horse has shown zilch since October last year however handicap mark has plummeted as a consequence. Been off the track since December and reappears today for new yard who have slapped first time headgear on straight away which is interesting. Did win last June from a mark of 70 and won a handicap from 82 in 2yo days so todays mark of only 60 sees the horse drop down to a a 0-60 handicap for first time in career. Taking a definite chance here but if change of yard and application of headgear spark a bit of life back into the horse then could go very well here in a race that may not take a lot of winning.

  5. Re: bbotd tuesday 9th Ayr 4.00: Spirit of a Nation 1pt win @ 16/1 Ladbrokes BOG Badly disappointed LTO when well beaten over 2m at York, however if able to forgive that run then the penultimate performance when winning over a similar trip to todays would give the horse every chance here. Won quite cosily in the end that day from a mark only 2lbs lower than todays in similar ground conditions. Fair apprentice booked today claiming additional 5lbs makes the horse quite attractively weighted. Has won from marks as high as 80 (5lbs higher), albeit over shorter distance, however proves that this mark is not beyond the horse. 16/1 looks quite a nice price if able to ignore poor LTO performance.

  6. Re: BBOTD Monday 8th Aug 3.15 Wolves: Buxton 1pt win @ 12/1 Will Hill BOG Horse looks very well handicapped on best known form. Is now 4lbs lower than last winning mark when winning over this trip at Brighton in April and has won from as high as 80 in the past. Dropped to only 66 now thanks to a couple of woeful recent efforts - however last couple of runners from stable offer hope that the horse may leave that form behind today. With a decent pace likely thanks to the presence of Glenridding in the field the race may get run to suit this hold up horse. Think 14/1 looks a little generous as if horse puts best foot forward would be entitled to go very close from this mark.

  7. Re: saturday bbotd 2.00 Ascot: Sohraab 1pt win @ 10/1 Will Hill BOG If able to reproduce C&D running from penultimate start when only beaten a half length by Medicean Man then would have a live chance. Was a little disappointing LTO when better off with that rival, however has another pull in the weights and running from 5lbs lower than highest winning mark and with Richard Hughes (decent strike rate for stable in 2011) a positive jockey booking, I think this horse has an outstanding chance at 10/1. Hughie Morrison has his string in decent form at the minute too.

Sorry, that was a mis-type, current bett365 price for woolfall treasure is 16/1 with Bet365 - if thats a problem, no problem with the 14/1 :ok
  9. Re: Flat Racing - Fri 5th August Brighton 3.30: Spanish Acclaim 1pt win @ 7/1 Ladbrokes BOG Had a couple of runs back so far this season and the latter of which was a vast improvement in first time blinkers when finishing 3rd at Epsom. 1lb lower today and every chance if the headgear has a similar affect again. Has all important C&D form, goes on the forecast ground and looks a decent bet at current 7/1.

  11. 3.30 Brighton: Plattsburgh 1pt win @ 3/1 Ladbrokes BOG Mark Johnston has an enviable record at Brighton with a 30% strike rate and £47 profit to level stakes over the last five seasons. He sends one runner here today, the in-form Plattsburgh. Won comfortably over this trip at Doncaster on penultimate start before running with great credit over the same trip to finish a close runner-up in a better race than todays LTO at Ffos Las. Only 1lb higher than that run today and I think this progressive 3yo could take all the beating with Darryl Holland taking just this one ride at Brighton today.

  13. Re: Shergar Cup Thread

Not something I've ever taken much interest in but then i don't rate 'jockey' as one of the main factors when I'm making a selection My view is that there are dozens of competant jockeys out there - if they're on the right horse they'll win. I just don't think there's enough difference between the top few dozen jockeys (basically the ones who ride every day) to make it worthwhile spending time on. And whatever differences there are can't be quantified in advance of the race. Good jockeys do bad rides and bad jockeys do good rides. You don't know in advance which it's going to be so it's just part of the randomness. On the other hand once I've made a selection then a good jockey on my horse is a bonus but the horse has to be selected on it's own record
Think this is one of the most sensible things I have read regarding jockeys and their abilities in any thread - cheers Trotter, just about bang on the money mate :ok Joe: happy birthday friday mate and enjoy your free day on Saturday, you lucky git :cheers
  14. Re: BBOTD - 3rd August 3.30 Brighton: Mujood 1pt win @ 20/1 Will Hill BOG The last time this horse won was over C&D in May last year. Horse is well handicapped on that form now running from 9lbs lower so not without a chance at the weights. Very open looking race and if the horse consents to put it's best foot forward then could go close for a stable who enjoy a decent record at the track.

  15. Re: BBOTD 2nd Aug 6.00 Ffos Las: George Thisby 1pt win @ 11/4 Will Hill BOG This horse is interesting dropped back to 6f for first time in a few starts. C&D winnner last year and is looking well handicapped on best known form having won here from 3lbs higher. Ran well LTO to finish a good 2nd over a mile. Ground conditions no problem and as long as things don't happen to quick for this one then should go very close.

  16. Re: Flat Racing - 1st August 8.55 Carlisle: Tropical Duke 1pt win @ 12/1 Bet365 BOG Ron Barr had two runners go well in similar events at Thirsk on Saturday and think he has a couple of decent chances tonight in the shape of Sea Salt in the first and also this horse Tropical Duke in the lucky last. Very well handicapped on best known form having won from 7lbs higher in August last year - last couple of runs definite step in the right direction after some poor efforts so may be ready to run a big race. Only negative is lack of form at this trip, however decent price and good chance here.

4.05 Chester: My Kingdom 1pt win @ 8/1 Ladbrokes BOG Horse is a little hit or miss, however won well from the front on penultimate start from 4lbs lower at Epsom before a disappointing effort LTO. Ideal draw for racing style and reunited with Sylvester De Sousa today the horse still looks to be on a fair mark. Decent claims in competitive looking handicap for an owner who likes winners at this track.
Apologies BH, this is for Kingscroft NOT My Kingdom!! Sorry mate :ok
