  1. Re: Bulgaria A PFG I will probably lay Loko Plovdiv. The match is a fierce derby and it's totally unpredictable. Both teams have solid (even flawless in the case of Botev) home records and they are poor away teams. But I do not think Loko will have a big advantage only because the match is played at their stadium. Both teams started ok after the winter break - Loko with away win, away loss and home draw againt CSKA; Botev with two home wins and a narrow away loss. So I cannot see why Loko is such a huge favourite to win it. I believe the match is postponed and will be played on Saturday so we will have some team news by then. Tosh will certainly keep an eye on this one ;) Oh, I must admit I am biased - Botev is my favourite team even though I couldn't care less about the Bulgarian league.

  2. Re: Russia Premier Division (Mar 10-11) Loko Moscow is hardly known for strong starts of the season. Kuban will be looking for a good result at its first home match in the Premier League after promotion so I can see value in 1X. No liquidity so far at Betfair, bookies offer 1.66 for 1X. Small stake 2/10 for me. CSKA Moscow sould take care of Rubin but odds are too low for my taste, especially for an opening round. Spartak Moscow is expected to be stronger than Dinamo Moscow but Dinamo had very good results in pre-season so perhaps they have the advantage in form. Saturn were the Kings of Draws last season (16 in 30 matches), Zenit had 6 draws in 15 matches at home so perhaps the value in this match is in the draw.

  3. Re: Croatia HNL Liga (Feb 17) Georgi Ivanov (the new Rijeka player) was regarded as a great talent 10 years ago. He is tall, strong, aggressive and good with headers. He started his career at Loko Plovdiv, then Levski bought him and he performed well for them, especially against their CSKA Sofia. He also played a few matches for our national team. He was aventually transferred to a Western club - Rennes, but he failed to deliver there. Then his career continued in Turkey - first and second division clubs and he came back to Levski. He was hardly noticed in the CL matches of Levski this season because he wasn't the first-choice striker. He is a decent player at the level of Bulgarian league so I guess he is OK for Croatia too. Great fighter but nothing too exciting. Loses his temper easily.

  4. Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Cyprus - Bulgaria Final of the tournament in Cyprus. Yesterday Bulgaria had little trouble beating Latvia 2:0 and Cyprus won 2:1 against Hungary (allegedly with a bit of help from a local referee). Bulgaria will start with 3 strikers today and they (we) are favourites to win the match. Referee help worries me though so I will take Bulgaria to win with a small stake only (1/10 - odds 2.1 bet365). I believe this should be a match with Over 2.5 goals but I can't find this market at Betfair and Bet365. Bulgaria starting lineup: Petkov (GK - Levski), Kishishev (Charlton), Topuzakov (Levski), Valentin Iliev (CSKA Sofia), Zanev (Litex), Marian Hristov (Wolfsburg), Stanislav Angelov (Levski), Todorov (Portsmouth), Telkiyski (Levski), Berbatov (Tottenham), Bozinov (Juventus). Iankov (Hannover) should replace Hristov in the second half. Strikers Genkov and Yankovich are expected to play in the second half as well. There's value in two HT/FT bets - Bulgaria/Bulgaria and Bulgaria/Draw as I believe that we will be leading at HT (because of all big name strikers starting the match and expected to be substituted around HT). The other match in the tournament is Hungary - Latvia. Latvia was poor yesterday but Hungary also disappointed. I still think that Hungary is the better team, odds for Hungary to win is nice (2.6) but I will skip it.

  5. Re: International Friendlies ( Feb 6-8) Bulgaria - Latvia Starting lineup for Bulgaria: Ivankov (GK - Kayserispor) - Kishishev (Charlton), Tomasic (Levski), Tunchev (CSKA Sofia) , Zanev (Litex), Iankov (Hannover), Marian Hristov (Wolfsburg), Peev (Amkar), Jankovic (Dalian Shide), Yovov (Levski), Todorov (Portsmouth) No Berbatov or Bozinov in attack, but maybe we'll see them in the second half. Latvia is without Igors Stepanovs, Andrejs Prohorenkovs, Andrejs Rubins, Maris Smirnovs, and Jurijs Laizans. It was raining yesterday so the pitch is not in best condition. Bulgaria skipped training yesterday due to teh rain. I expect a solid defensive play from Latvia - most of their players play in the Latvian League, which is due to start in April, so I can't see them being in great physical condition. Verpakovskis (Getafe) and Gorks (Blackpool) should be OK. Bulgarian coach Stoichkov says he will use two different lineups for the two friendlies in Cyprus and I think he might be underestimating the Latvians. I will go for Under 2.5 (odds around 1.8) and Bulgaria to win (odds around 1.75) with small stakes as this is a friendly.
